[ Revelation 22:1 - 22:5 ] - hymn 91 He was caught up into Paradise and heard inexpressible words. — 2 Corinthians 12:4 My friend Gus passed away a few months ago. Gus was a fellow trout fisherman. Weekends usually found him in his little boat on a nearby lake, casting for fish. I got a letter from his daughter Heidi the other day. She told me she¡¯s been talking about heaven with her grandkids since Gus went to his home in heaven. Her 6-year-old grandson, who also loves to fish, explained what heaven is like and what Great-Grandpa Gus is doing: ¡°It¡¯s really beautiful,¡± he mused, ¡°and Jesus is showing Grandpa Gus where the best fishing holes are.¡± When Paul reported his God-given vision of heaven, words failed him. He said, ¡°I was caught up to paradise and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words¡±(2 Cor.12:4 nlt). Words cannot convey the facts of heaven—perhaps because we humans are unable to comprehend them. While we might gain some comfort from knowing more details about heaven, it is not the knowledge of heaven that assures us; it is our knowledge of God Himself. Because I know Him and I know how good He is, I can leave this life and everything in it with utter confidence that heaven will be beautiful and Jesus will show me ¡°where the best fishing holes are¡±—because that¡¯s the kind of God He is! — David Roper		[ 요한계시록 22:1 - 22:5 ] - 찬송가 91 장 그가 낙원으로 이끌려가서 말로 표현할 수 없는 말을 들었으니 — 고린도후서 12:4 나와 마찬가지로 송어 낚시를 즐기던 친구 거스가 몇 달 전 죽었습니다. 그는 주말이면 보통 근처 호수에서 그의 작은 배를 띄워 낚싯줄을 드리우곤 했습니다. 며칠 전에 나는 그의 딸 하이디로부터 편지 한 통을 받았습니다. 그녀는 아버지가 천국 본향으로 떠난 이후 그녀의 손자, 손녀들에게 천국에 관한 이야기를 해왔다고 했습니다. 그녀의 6살 된 손자도 역시 낚시를 좋아하는데, 천국이 어떤 곳인지 그리고 증조할아버지가 무엇을 하고 있는지를 이렇게 설명했다고 합니다. “그곳은 정말 아름다운 곳이에요. 그리고 예수님께서 할아버지께 제일 좋은 낚시자리가 어딘지 보여주고 계세요.” 바울은 주님께서 보여주신 천국의 모습을 말로 표현할 수 없었습니다. “[내가] 낙원으로 이끌려가서 말로 표현할 수 없는 말을 들었으니 사람이 가히 이르지 못할 말이로다”(고후 12:4). 말로는 천국의 모습들을 제대로 전달할 수 없습니다. 아마도 그것은 우리 인간이 그것들을 이해할 수 없기 때문일 것입니다. 우리가 천국을 더 자세히 알게 될 때 어떤 위안을 얻을 수 있을지도 모르겠지만, 우리를 확신시켜주는 것은 천국에 관한 지식이 아니라 하나님 그분에 관한 지식입니다. 나는 하나님을 알고 또 하나님이 얼마나 좋으신 분인지 알기 때문에, 천국이 아름다울 거라는 것과 예수님이 나에게 ‘최고의 낚시자리’를 보여주실 것이라는 완전한 확신을 갖고 내 삶과 삶속의 모든 것을 주님께 맡길 수 있습니다. 하나님은 바로 그런 분이십니다!

Revelation 22:1-5

[1] And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
[2] In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
[3] And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.
[4] They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.
[5] There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

하나님께 날마다 간구하고 기도하오니
우리의 심령에 당신을 온전히 드러내 보여주시고
우리의 감각을 일깨워 다가올 천국을
보고 듣고 맛보고 느낄 수 있게 해주소서

이 땅에서의 어떤 것도 천국에서 그리스도와 함께 하는 것에
비교할 수 없다.

요한계시록 22:1-5

[1] 또 그가 수정 같이 맑은 생명수의 강을 내게 보이니 하나님과 및 어린 양의 보좌로부터 나와서
[2] 길 가운데로 흐르더라 강 좌우에 생명나무가 있어 열두 가지 열매를 맺되 달마다 그 열매를 맺고 그 나무 잎사귀들은 만국을 치료하기 위하여 있더라
[3] 다시 저주가 없으며 하나님과 그 어린 양의 보좌가 그 가운데에 있으리니 그의 종들이 그를 섬기며
[4] 그의 얼굴을 볼 터이요 그의 이름도 그들의 이마에 있으리라
[5] 다시 밤이 없겠고 등불과 햇빛이 쓸 데 없으니 이는 주 하나님이 그들에게 비치심이라 그들이 세세토록 왕 노릇 하리로다
