Fragrant Living		향기로운 삶
[ Philippians 4:10 - 4:20 ] - hymn 452 I am full, having received ... the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma ... well pleasing to God. — Philippians 4:18 I¡¯m grateful that God has given us the sense of smell so we can enjoy the many fragrances of life. I think of how much I enjoy something as simple as the fresh and inviting aroma of after-shave lotion in the morning. Or the mellow smell of fresh-cut grass in the spring. I especially enjoy sitting in the backyard when the delicate scent of my favorite roses fills the air. And then there are the savory aromas of delicious food. So it catches my attention when the apostle Paul says that our generous acts of love toward others are like a ¡°sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God¡±(Phil.4:18). When we think of helping those in need, we usually think of it as the right thing to do—or even the Christlike thing to do. But Paul says that our intentional act of reaching out to meet someone¡¯s need actually fills the throne room of God with a fragrance that brings pleasure to Him. We can please God with the aromas that rise from being a blessing to others! What an added incentive this is for us to perform deeds of kindness in His name. Who might need your act of kindness today? Ask God to lead you to someone. Be a blessing. It¡¯s a fragrant thing to do! — Joe Stowell		[ 빌립보서 4:10 - 4:20 ] - 찬송가 452 장 너희가 준 것을 받으므로 내가 풍족하니 이는 받으실 만한 향기로운 제물이요 하나님을 기쁘시게 한 것이라 — 빌립보서 4:18 나는 삶의 많은 향기를 즐길 수 있도록 하나님이 우리에게 후각을 주신 것에 감사합니다. 아침에 일어나 애프터셰이브 로션을 바를 때 맡게 되는 신선하고 좋은 향기 같은 단순한 것도 내가 얼마나 즐기는지 생각해봅니다. 또 봄에 갓 깎은 풀의 부드러운 향내도 마찬가지입니다. 특히 내가 좋아하는 장미의 은은한 향기로 가득한 뒤뜰에 앉아있는 것도 참 좋아합니다. 게다가 맛있는 음식의 구수한 냄새 또한 빠질 수가 없지요. 이런 이유로 바울사도가 다른 사람을 향한 우리의 친절한 행위가 “받으실 만한 향기로운 제물이요 하나님을 기쁘시게 한 것”(빌 4:18)과 같다고 한 말이 나의 주의를 끕니다. 우리가 궁핍에 처한 이들을 도와주려 할 때, 우리는 응당 해야 할 바른 일이라고 생각하고, 예수님처럼 하는 것이라고 생각합니다. 그러나 바울은 어떤 사람의 필요를 채우기 위해 베푸는 우리의 의도적인 행위는 실제로 하나님의 왕좌가 있는 방을 하나님이 기뻐하시는 향기로 가득 채우는 것이라고 이야기합니다. 우리는 우리가 다른 사람들에게 축복이 되어줄 때 나오는 향기로 인해 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 있습니다. 우리가 주님의 이름으로 친절을 행할 때 이것이 얼마나 큰 격려가 되는지요! 오늘 누가 당신의 친절을 필요로 합니까? 당신을 누군가에게로 인도해달라고 주님께 간구하십시오. 축복이 되어주십시오. 그것은 우리가 해야 할 향기로운 일입니다.

Blessing others is a blessing to God.

Philippians 4:10-20

[10] But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity.
[11] Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:
[12] I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
[13] I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
[14] Nevertheless you have done well that you shared in my distress.
[15] Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only.
[16] For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities.
[17] Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account.
[18] Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.
[19] And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
[20] Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

내가 오늘 사람들을 위해서 하고 싶은 것들을 적어봅시다.

다른 사람을 축복함은 하나님께 드려지는 축복이다.

빌립보서 4:10-20

[10] 내가 주 안에서 크게 기뻐함은 너희가 나를 생각하던 것이 이제 다시 싹이 남이니 너희가 또한 이를 위하여 생각은 하였으나 기회가 없었느니라
[11] 내가 궁핍하므로 말하는 것이 아니니라 어떠한 형편에든지 나는 자족하기를 배웠노니
[12] 나는 비천에 처할 줄도 알고 풍부에 처할 줄도 알아 모든 일 곧 배부름과 배고픔과 풍부와 궁핍에도 처할 줄 아는 일체의 비결을 배웠노라
[13] 내게 능력 주시는 자 안에서 내가 모든 것을 할 수 있느니라
[14] 그러나 너희가 내 괴로움에 함께 참여하였으니 잘하였도다
[15] 빌립보 사람들아 너희도 알거니와 복음의 시초에 내가 마게도냐를 떠날 때에 주고 받는 내 일에 참여한 교회가 너희 외에 아무도 없었느니라
[16] 데살로니가에 있을 때에도 너희가 한 번뿐 아니라 두 번이나 나의 쓸 것을 보내었도다
[17] 내가 선물을 구함이 아니요 오직 너희에게 유익하도록 풍성한 열매를 구함이라
[18] 내게는 모든 것이 있고 또 풍부한지라 에바브로디도 편에 너희가 준 것을 받으므로 내가 풍족하니 이는 받으실 만한 향기로운 제물이요 하나님을 기쁘시게 한 것이라
[19] 나의 하나님이 그리스도 예수 안에서 영광 가운데 그 풍성한 대로 너희 모든 쓸 것을 채우시리라
[20] 하나님 곧 우리 아버지께 세세 무궁하도록 영광을 돌릴지어다 아멘
