Solid-Rock Faith		반석 같은 믿음
[ Psalms 18:1 - 18:3 ] - hymn 488 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer. — Psalm 18:2 My wife and I both have grandmothers who have lived past 100. Talking with them and their friends, I detect a trend that seems almost universal in the reminiscences of older people: They recall difficult times with a touch of nostalgia. The elderly swap stories about World War II and the Great Depression; they speak fondly of hardships such as blizzards, the childhood outhouse, and the time in college when they ate canned soup and stale bread 3 weeks in a row. Paradoxically, difficult times may help nourish faith and strengthen personal bonds. Seeing this principle lived out, I can better understand one of the mysteries relating to God. Faith boils down to a question of trust. If I do stand on a solid rock of trust in God (Ps.18:2), the worst of circumstances will not destroy that relationship. Solid-rock faith allows me to believe that despite the chaos of the present moment, God does reign. Regardless of how worthless I may feel, I truly matter to a God of love. No pain lasts forever, and no evil triumphs in the end. Solid-rock faith sees even the darkest deed of all history, the death of God¡¯s Son, as a necessary prelude to the brightest moment in all history—His resurrection and triumph over death. — Philip Yancey		[ 시편 18:1 - 18:3 ] - 찬송가 488 장 여호와는 나의 반석이시요 나의 요새시요 나를 건지시는 이시요 — 시편 18:2 우리 할머니와 아내의 할머니 두 분 다 100세를 넘어 장수하고 계십니다. 그분들이나 그들의 친구 분들과 이야기를 나누면서 노인들의 추억담을 듣다보면, 나이 든 사람들 거의 모두가 보편적으로 가지고 있는 어떤 경향을 발견하게 됩니다. 그들은 어려웠던 시간들에 대해 일종의 향수를 가지고 있다는 것입니다. 나이 드신 분들은 제2차 세계대전이나 대공황에 관한 이야기들을 주고받기도 하고, 눈보라나 어린 시절의 실외화장실, 3주 내내 캔에 든 수프와 상한 빵을 먹어야 했던 대학시절 같은 고난들을 애정을 갖고 이야기합니다. 역설적이게도, 힘든 시간들은 믿음을 자라게 하고 인간관계를 강하게 결속시킵니다. 이러한 원리가 삶 속에 살아 숨 쉬는 것을 보면서 나는 하나님에 대한 신비 중 하나를 더 잘 이해할 수 있게 되었습니다. 믿음은 결국 신뢰의 문제로 요약됩니다. 만일 내가 하나님을 신뢰하는 반석 위에 서 있다면(시 18:2), 최악의 상황이라도 그 관계를 깨뜨리지 못할 것입니다. 반석 같은 믿음은 지금 이 순간이 혼란스러워 보여도 하나님께서 통치하고 계시다는 것을 믿게 해줍니다. 내가 얼마나 쓸모없게 느껴지는가에 상관없이 나는 사랑이신 하나님께 진정으로 소중한 존재입니다. 영원히 지속되는 고통은 없으며 어떤 악도 결국은 모두 패배합니다. 반석 같은 믿음은 모든 역사를 통틀어 가장 암울했던 하나님의 아들의 죽음조차도, 모든 역사 중 가장 찬란한 순간인, 사망을 이기신 예수님의 부활을 위해 필요한 서곡으로 바라볼 수 있게 합니다.

Lord, You are the Rock, the object of my faith. My faith stands on You and not on my shifting feelings; otherwise I would be sure to fall.

Christ, the Rock, is our sure hope.

Psalm 18:1-3,46

[1] To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD, who spoke to the LORD the words of this song on the day that the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he Said: I will love You, O LORD, my strength.
[2] The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
[3] I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.

[46] The LORD lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let the God of my salvation be exalted.

주님, 주는 반석이시요 내 믿음의 대상이십니다.
나의 믿음을 흔들리는 내 감정 위에 세우지 않고
주님 위에 세웁니다.
그렇지 않으면 반드시 넘어질 것을 압니다.

반석이신 그리스도는 우리의 확실한 소망이다.
