A REFUGE; A JUDGE		공의와 자비가 공존하는
[ Nahum 1:1 - 1:9 ] - hymn 282 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble. — Nahum 1:7 When a defendant stands before a judge, he or she is at the mercy of the court. If the defendant is innocent, the court should be a refuge. But if the defendant is guilty, we expect the court to exact punishment. In Nahum, we see God as both a refuge and a judge. It says, ¡°The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble¡±(1:7 NIV). But it also says, ¡°He will make an end of Nineveh; he will pursue his foes into the realm of darkness¡±(v.8 NIV). Over 100 years earlier, Nineveh had repented after Jonah preached God¡¯s forgiveness, and the land was safe (Jonah 3:10). But during Nahum¡¯s day, Nineveh was plotting ¡°evil against the Lord¡±(Nah.1:11). In chapter 3, Nahum details Nineveh¡¯s destruction. Many people know only one side of God¡¯s dealings with the human race but not the other. They think that He is holy and wants only to punish us, or that He is merciful and wants only to show kindness. In truth, He is judge and refuge. Peter writes that Jesus ¡°committed Himself to Him who judges righteously¡±(1 Peter 2:23). As a result, He ¡°bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness¡±(v.24). The whole truth about God is good news! He is judge, but because of Jesus, we can go to Him as our refuge. — Dave Branon		[ 나훔 1:1 - 1:9 ] - 찬송가 282 장 여호와는 선하시며 환난 날에 산성이시라 — 나훔 1:7 피고인이 판사 앞에 설 때 피고인은 법정의 결정에 따라 좌우됩니다. 만일 피고인이 무죄라면 법정은 피난처가 되어야 합니다. 하지만 피고인이 유죄라면 우리는 정확한 처벌을 해줄 것을 법정에 기대합니다. 나훔서에서 우리는 하나님이 피난처도 되시고 심판자도 되시는 것을 봅니다. 나훔서는 “여호와는 선하시며 환난 날에 산성이시라”(1:7)라고 하면서 동시에 “그가 범람하는 물로 그곳을 진멸하시고 자기 대적들을 흑암으로 쫓아내시리라”(8절)라고 말합니다. 요나가 하나님의 용서를 전했을 때 니느웨는 회개했고, 그 후 100년이 넘는 동안 그 땅은 안전했습니다(욘 3:10). 하지만 나훔의 시대에 니느웨는 “여호와께 악을 꾀하고”있었습니다(나 1:11). 나훔은 3장에서 니느웨의 파멸을 상세히 다루고 있습니다. 많은 사람들은 인간을 다루시는 하나님의 한 면만 알고 다른 면은 모르고 있습니다. 사람들은 하나님이 성스러워서 우리를 오직 벌하려고만 하신다고 생각하거나, 아니면 그분이 자비로워서 오직 사랑만 보여주시려 한다고 생각합니다. 그러나 사실, 하나님은 심판자이시며 동시에 피난처이십니다. 베드로는 예수님이 “오직 공의로 심판하시는 이에게 부탁하셨다”(벧전 2:23)라고 쓰고 있습니다. 그 결과 주님은 “우리 죄를 자기의 몸에 몸소 지시고서 나무에 달리셨습니다. 그것은 우리가 죄에는 죽고 의에는 살게 하시려는 것이었습니다”(24절, 새번역). 하나님에 대한 온전한 진리가 복음입니다! 하나님은 심판자이시지만 예수님 때문에 우리는 하나님을 우리의 피난처로 삼아 그분께 나아갈 수 있습니다.

Lord, never let us underestimate You
by seeing only one side of Your role in our lives.
Help us to enjoy Your love and kindness
while recognizing how much You hate evil.

Nahum 1:1-9

[1] The burden against Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
[2] God is jealous, and the LORD avenges; The LORD avenges and is furious. The LORD will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies;
[3] The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked. The LORD has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet.
[4] He rebukes the sea and makes it dry, And dries up all the rivers. Bashan and Carmel wither, And the flower of Lebanon wilts.
[5] The mountains quake before Him, The hills melt, And the earth heaves at His presence, Yes, the world and all who dwell in it.
[6] Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are thrown down by Him.
[7] The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.
[8] But with an overflowing flood He will make an utter end of its place, And darkness will pursue His enemies.
[9] What do you conspire against the LORD? He will make an utter end of it. Affliction will not rise up a second time.

주님, 우리 삶에서 역사하시는 주님의 역할을
한 부분만 봄으로써 주님을 과소평가하지 않게 해주소서.
주님이 얼마나 죄를 싫어하는지 깨달으면서
우리가 주님의 사랑과 친절을 즐길 수 있게 도와주소서.

십자가에는 하나님의 공의와 자비가 교차하고 있다.

[2] 여호와는 질투하시며 보복하시는 하나님이시니라 여호와는 보복하시며 진노하시되 자기를 거스르는 자에게 여호와는 보복하시며 자기를 대적하는 자에게 진노를 품으시며
[3] 여호와는 노하기를 더디하시며 권능이 크시며 벌 받을 자를 결코 내버려두지 아니하시느니라 여호와의 길은 회오리바람과 광풍에 있고 구름은 그의 발의 티끌이로다
[4] 그는 바다를 꾸짖어 그것을 말리시며 모든 강을 말리시나니 바산과 갈멜이 쇠하며 레바논의 꽃이 시드는도다
[5] 그로 말미암아 산들이 진동하며 작은 산들이 녹고 그 앞에서는 땅 곧 세계와 그 가운데에 있는 모든 것들이 솟아오르는도다
[6] 누가 능히 그의 분노 앞에 서며 누가 능히 그의 진노를 감당하랴 그의 진노가 불처럼 쏟아지니 그로 말미암아 바위들이 깨지는도다
[7] 여호와는 선하시며 환난 날에 산성이시라 그는 자기에게 피하는 자들을 아시느니라
[8] 그가 범람하는 물로 그 곳을 진멸하시고 자기 대적들을 흑암으로 쫓아내시리라
[9] 너희는 여호와께 대하여 무엇을 꾀하느냐 그가 온전히 멸하시리니 재난이 다시 일어나지 아니하리라
