A Gift Of Hope		희망의 선물
[ Judges 13:1 - 13:7 ] - hymn 337 He shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. — Judges 13:5 When a powerful typhoon swept through the city of Tacloban, Philippines, in 2013, an estimated 10,000 people died, and many who survived found themselves homeless and jobless. Necessities became scarce. Three months later, while the town was still struggling to dig itself out from the destruction, a baby was born on a roadside near Tacloban amid torrents of rain and strong wind. Although the weather brought back painful memories, residents worked together to fi-nd a midwife and transport the mother and newborn to a clinic. The baby survived, thrived, and became a symbol of hope during a time of despair. Forty years of Philistine oppression marked a grim period in Israel¡¯s national history. During this time, an angel informed an Israelite woman that she would give birth to a special son (Judg.13:3). According to the angel, the baby would be a Nazirite—a man set apart to God—and would ¡°begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines¡±(v.5). The infant, Samson, was a gift of hope born in a troubled time. Trouble is unavoidable, yet Jesus has the power to rescue us from despair. Christ was born ¡°to give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet in the way of peace¡±(Luke 1:76-79). — Jennifer Benson Schuldt		[ 사사기 13:1 - 13:7 ] - 찬송가 337 장 그가 블레셋 사람의 손에서 이스라엘을 구원하기 시작하리라 — 사사기 13:5 2013년 강력한 태풍이 필리핀의 태클로반 시를 휩쓸고 지나갔을 때 어림잡아 만 명가량이 사망했으며, 살아남은 많은 사람들도 집과 일터를 잃어버리고 생활필수품도 아주 부족했습니다. 그로부터 석 달 후 재난으로부터 벗어나려고 지역 주민들이 여전히 몸부림을 치고 있을 때, 강한 비바람이 다시 몰아쳤는데 그 와중에 태클로반 근처의 길가에서 한 아기가 태어났습니다. 날씨는 이전의 고통스런 기억들을 다시 생각나게 해주었지만, 주민들은 힘을 모아 산파를 찾아내고 산모와 갓난아이를 진료소로 옮겼습니다. 아기는 살아났고 튼튼하게 자라나 절망의 시간 속에서 희망의 상징이 되었습니다. 이스라엘 민족의 역사에는 40년간 블레셋의 억압을 받은 냉혹한 시기가 있었습니다. 이 기간에 한 천사가 이스라엘 여인에게 나타나 특별한 아들을 낳을 것이라고 알려주었습니다(삿 13:3). 천사에 의하면 그 아이는 하나님께 바쳐진 나실인이 될 것이며, “블레셋 사람의 손에서 이스라엘을 구원하기 시작”(5절)할 것이라고 했습니다. 갓난아이 삼손은 고통의 시절에 태어난 희망의 선물이었습니다. 고통은 피할 수 없습니다. 그러나 예수님은 우리를 절망에서 구해내실 수 있는 능력을 가지고 계십니다. 예수님은 “어둠과 죽음의 그늘에 앉은 자에게 비치고 우리 발을 평강의 길로 인도하시기”(눅 1:76-79) 위해 태어나셨습니다.

Lord, help me to see beyond my circumstances
and put my hope in You.
All authority and power are Yours. Remind me of
Your goodness, and let me rest in Your love.

Jesus is the hope that calms life¡¯s storms.

Judges 13:1-7

[1] Again the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD, and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.
[2] Now there was a certain man from Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren and had no children.
[3] And the Angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, "Indeed now, you are barren and have borne no children, but you shall conceive and bear a son.
[4] "Now therefore, please be careful not to drink wine or similar drink, and not to eat anything unclean.
[5] "For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines."
[6] So the woman came and told her husband, saying, "A Man of God came to me, and His countenance was like the countenance of the Angel of God, very awesome; but I did not ask Him where He was from, and He did not tell me His name.
[7] "And He said to me, 'Behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. Now drink no wine or similar drink, nor eat anything unclean, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb to the day of his death.'"

주님, 제 환경을 뛰어넘어 바라보며
주님 안에 소망을 둘 수 있게 도와주소서.
모든 권위와 능력은 다 주님의 것이오니 주님의 선하심을
다시 기억하고 주님의 사랑 안에서 쉼을 얻게 하소서.

예수님은 인생의 폭풍우를 잠잠케 하시는 희망이 되신다.

사사기 13:1-7

[1] 이스라엘 자손이 다시 여호와의 목전에 악을 행하였으므로 여호와께서 그들을 사십 년 동안 블레셋 사람의 손에 넘겨 주시니라
[2] 소라 땅에 단 지파의 가족 중에 마노아라 이름하는 자가 있더라 그의 아내가 임신하지 못하므로 출산하지 못하더니
[3] 여호와의 사자가 그 여인에게 나타나서 그에게 이르시되 보라 네가 본래 임신하지 못하므로 출산하지 못하였으나 이제 임신하여 아들을 낳으리니
[4] 그러므로 너는 삼가 포도주와 독주를 마시지 말며 어떤 부정한 것도 먹지 말지니라
[5] 보라 네가 임신하여 아들을 낳으리니 그의 머리 위에 삭도를 대지 말라 이 아이는 태에서 나옴으로부터 하나님께 바쳐진 나실인이 됨이라 그가 블레셋 사람의 손에서 이스라엘을 구원하기 시작하리라 하시니
[6] 이에 그 여인이 가서 그의 남편에게 말하여 이르되 하나님의 사람이 내게 오셨는데 그의 모습이 하나님의 사자의 용모 같아서 심히 두려우므로 어디서부터 왔는지를 내가 묻지 못하였고 그도 자기 이름을 내게 이르지 아니하였으며
[7] 그가 내게 이르기를 보라 네가 임신하여 아들을 낳으리니 이제 포도주와 독주를 마시지 말며 어떤 부정한 것도 먹지 말라 이 아이는 태에서부터 그가 죽는 날까지 하나님께 바쳐진 나실인이 됨이라 하더이다 하니라
