Unwelcome Visitors		달갑지 않은 손님
[ James 1:2 - 1:12 ] - hymn 341 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. — James 1:2-3 Recently my wife, Marlene, and I received a panicky phone call from our son and his wife. The night before, they had found two bats in their house. I know bats are an important part of the ecosystem, but they are not my favorite among God¡¯s creatures, especially when they are flying around inside. Yet Marlene and I were thankful we could go over to our kids¡¯house and help. We helped them to plug the holes that might have been used by these unwelcome visitors to enter their house. Another unwelcome visitor that often intrudes into our lives is suffering. When trials come, we can easily panic or lose heart. But these difficult circumstances can become the instruments our loving heavenly Father uses to make us more like Christ. That¡¯s why James wrote, ¡°My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work¡±(James 1:2-4). We are not expected to enjoy trials or to celebrate suffering. But when these unwelcome visitors arrive, we can look for God¡¯s hand in them and trust that He can use them to make us more like His Son. — Bill Crowder		[ 야고보서 1:2 - 1:12 ] - 찬송가 341 장 내 형제들아 너희가 여러 가지 시험을 당하거든 온전히 기쁘게 여기라 이는 너희 믿음의 시련이 인내를 만들어내는 줄 너희가 앎이라 — 야고보서 1:2-3 최근에 아내 말린과 나는 아들 내외가 몹시 허둥대면서 건 전화를 받았습니다. 전날 밤 박쥐 두 마리가 그들 집에 들어온 것을 알게 된 것이었습니다. 박쥐는 생태계의 중요한 부분이기는 하지만, 하나님이 만드신 것 중에 내가 좋아하지 않는 것입니다. 특히 집안에서 날아다닐 때는 더욱 그렇습니다. 그럼에도 말린과 나는 아들 집에 가서 도울 수 있음에 감사했습니다. 우리는 아들 내외가 이 달갑지 않은 방문객들이 들어왔을지도 모를 구멍들을 막는 것을 도와주었습니다. 종종 우리 삶을 침해하는 또 다른 반갑지 않은 손님은 고통입니다. 시련이 다가오면 우리는 쉽게 공황에 빠지거나 낙심합니다. 하지만 이런 어려운 상황들은 우리 사랑의 하나님 아버지께서 우리를 보다 더 그리스도를 닮도록 만드시기 위해 사용하는 도구입니다. 그러기에 야고보는 “내 형제들아 너희가 여러 가지 시험을 당하거든 온전히 기쁘게 여기라 이는 너희 믿음의 시련이 인내를 만들어 내는 줄 너희가 앎이라 인내를 온전히 이루라”(약 1:2-4)라고 한 것입니다. 굳이 시련을 즐기라거나 고통을 찬양하라는 것은 아니지만, 이런 달갑지 않은 불청객들이 오면 우리는 그들 속에 있는 하나님의 손길을 바라보고, 하나님이 우리를 더욱더 그분의 아들처럼 만드시기 위해 그것들을 사용하신다는 것을 믿어야 합니다.

Thank You, Father, that You give to us each day
what You know is best.
We¡¯re thankful that we can trust Your heart,
which is kind beyond all measure.

Trials may visit us, but our God is always with us.

James 1:2-12

[2] My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
[3] knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
[4] But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
[5] If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
[6] But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
[7] For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
[8] he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
[9] Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation,
[10] but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away.
[11] For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.
[12] Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

하나님 아버지, 주님이 최선이라고 여기시는 것을
매일 우리에게 주셔서 감사합니다.
우리가 도저히 측량할 수 없는 주님의 마음을
신뢰할 수 있게 하시니 감사합니다.

시련이 닥칠 수도 있겠지만
우리 하나님은 항상 우리와 함께 하신다.

야고보서 1:2-12

[2] 내 형제들아 너희가 여러 가지 시험을 당하거든 온전히 기쁘게 여기라
[3] 이는 너희 믿음의 시련이 인내를 만들어 내는 줄 너희가 앎이라
[4] 인내를 온전히 이루라 이는 너희로 온전하고 구비하여 조금도 부족함이 없게 하려 함이라
[5] 너희 중에 누구든지 지혜가 부족하거든 모든 사람에게 후히 주시고 꾸짖지 아니하시는 하나님께 구하라 그리하면 주시리라
[6] 오직 믿음으로 구하고 조금도 의심하지 말라 의심하는 자는 마치 바람에 밀려 요동하는 바다 물결 같으니
[7] 이런 사람은 무엇이든지 주께 얻기를 생각하지 말라
[8] 두 마음을 품어 모든 일에 정함이 없는 자로다
[9] 낮은 형제는 자기의 높음을 자랑하고
[10] 부한 자는 자기의 낮아짐을 자랑할지니 이는 그가 풀의 꽃과 같이 지나감이라
[11] 해가 돋고 뜨거운 바람이 불어 풀을 말리면 꽃이 떨어져 그 모양의 아름다움이 없어지나니 부한 자도 그 행하는 일에 이와 같이 쇠잔하리라
[12] 시험을 참는 자는 복이 있나니 이는 시련을 견디어 낸 자가 주께서 자기를 사랑하는 자들에게 약속하신 생명의 면류관을 얻을 것이기 때문이라
