Learn The Cost		치르신 대가를 알자
[ 1 Peter 1:17 - 1:21 ] - hymn 266 You were bought at a price. — 1 Corinthians 6:20 We gave our 2-year-old son a pair of new boots recently. He was so happy that he didn¡¯t take them off until it was bedtime. But the next day he forgot all about the boots and put on his old sneakers. My husband said, ¡°I wish he knew how much things cost.¡± The boots were expensive, but a young child doesn¡¯t know about working hours, salaries, and taxes. A child receives the gifts with open arms, but we know that he can¡¯t be expected to fully appreciate the sacrifices his parents make to give him new things. Sometimes I behave like a child. With open arms I receive God¡¯s gifts through His many mercies, but am I thankful? Do I consider the price that was paid so I can live a full life? The cost was expensive—more than ¡°corruptible things, like silver or gold.¡± As we read in 1 Peter, it required ¡°the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot¡±(1:18-19). Jesus gave His life, a high price to pay, to make us part of His family. And God raised Him from the dead (v.21). When we understand the cost of our salvation, we learn to be truly thankful.		[ 베드로전서 1:17 - 1:21 ] - 찬송가 266 장 [너희는] 값으로 산 것이 되었으니 — 고린도전서 6:20 최근에 우리는 두 살 난 아들에게 새 장화를 사 주었습니다. 아이는 너무나 좋아서 잠자기 직전까지 장화를 벗지 않았습니다. 그러나 아이는 그 다음날 장화에 대한 것은 다 잊어버리고 낡은 운동화를 신었습니다. 남편이 이렇게 말했습니다. “그게 얼마나 비싼 건지 녀석이 알기나 할까.” 장화는 비싼 물건이지만, 그걸 사기 위해 얼마나 오래 일을 하고, 얼마의 봉급을 받고, 얼마나 세금을 내는지에 대해 아이는 알지 못합니다. 아이는 두 팔을 내밀어 선물을 받지만 우리는 그에게 무언가 새것을 사주기 위해서 치른 부모의 희생을 아이가 충분히 이해하리라고는 기대하지 않습니다. 때로는 나도 어린아이처럼 행동합니다. 하나님이 그분의 자비로 주시는 선물들을 두 팔 벌려 받으면서도 나는 과연 그것에 대해 감사를 하고 있는 걸까요? 나의 영생을 위해 지불된 값을 생각하고 있는 걸까요? 그 값은 “은이나 금 같이 없어질 것”보다 훨씬 더 비쌌습니다. 베드로전서의 말씀처럼 그것을 위해 “오직 흠 없고 점 없는 어린양 같은 그리스도의 보배로운 피”(1:18-19)가 필요했습니다. 예수님은 우리를 주님의 가족으로 삼기 위해 그분의 생명을 내어주심으로 값비싼 대가를 치르셨습니다. 그리고 하나님은 그를 죽음에서 일으키셨습니다(21절). 우리의 구원을 위하여 치르신 대가를 우리가 이해할 때, 우리는 진정으로 감사하는 것을 배우게 됩니다.

Lord, help me to understand, to take in what it meant for You, the Holy One, to bear my sin. Remind me to give You thanks for salvation and for all the ways You show me Your love throughout my day today.

Salvation is infinitely costly, but absolutely free.

1 Peter 1:17-21

[17] And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one's work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear;
[18] knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
[19] but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
[20] He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you
[21] who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

주님, 저의 죄를 대신 감당하심이 거룩하신 주님께는
어떤 고통이었는지 제가 깨닫고 받아들일 수 있도록 도와주소서.
저를 구원하시고 여러 모양으로 사랑하시는 것을
오늘 종일토록 감사하게 일깨워주소서.

구원은 무한한 대가를 치른 것을 우리가 완전히 거저 받는 것이다.

베드로전서 1:17-21

[17] 외모로 보시지 않고 각 사람의 행위대로 심판하시는 이를 너희가 아버지라 부른즉 너희가 나그네로 있을 때를 두려움으로 지내라
[18] 너희가 알거니와 너희 조상이 물려 준 헛된 행실에서 대속함을 받은 것은 은이나 금 같이 없어질 것으로 된 것이 아니요
[19] 오직 흠 없고 점 없는 어린 양 같은 그리스도의 보배로운 피로 된 것이니라
[20] 그는 창세 전부터 미리 알린 바 되신 이나 이 말세에 너희를 위하여 나타내신 바 되었으니
[21] 너희는 그를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리시고 영광을 주신 하나님을 그리스도로 말미암아 믿는 자니 너희 믿음과 소망이 하나님께 있게 하셨느니라
