Leaving It Behind		버려두고 떠나기
[ John 4:9 - 4:14 ] - hymn 93 The woman then left her waterpot [and said,] ¡°Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?¡± — John 4:28-29 In the year or so after our teenage son got his driver¡¯s license and started carrying a wallet, we got several calls from people who had found it somewhere. We cautioned him to be more careful and not leave it behind. Leaving things behind, though, is not always a bad thing. In John 4, we read about a woman who had come to draw water at a well. But after she encountered Jesus that day, her intent suddenly changed. Leaving her water jar behind, she hurried back to tell others what Jesus had said to her (vv.28-29). Even her physical need for water paled in comparison to telling others about the Man she had just met. Peter and Andrew did something similar when Jesus called them. They left their fishing nets (which was the way they earned their living) to follow Jesus(Matt.4:18-20). And James and John left their nets, boat, and even their father when Jesus called them (vv.21-22). Our new life of following Jesus Christ may mean that we have to leave things behind, including those that don¡¯t bring lasting satisfaction. What we once craved cannot compare with the life and ¡°living water¡± that Jesus offers. — Cindy Hess Kasper		[ 요한복음 4:9 - 4:14 ] - 찬송가 93 장 여자가 물동이를 버려두고…이르되 내가 행한 모든 일을 내게 말한 사람을 와서 보라 이는 그리스도가 아니냐 하니 — 요한복음 4:28-29 십대 아들이 운전면허증을 따고 지갑을 가지고 다니기 시작한 이후로, 우리는 사람들로부터 그 지갑을 어디서 주웠다는 연락을 여러 번 받았습니다. 우리는 아들에게 좀 더 조심하고 지갑을 아무 데나 두고 오지 말라고 주의를 주었습니다. 그렇지만, 뭔가를 두고 간다는 것이 늘 나쁜 일만은 아닙니다. 요한복음 4장에서 우리는 우물가에 물을 길러 온 여인에 대한 이야기를 읽습니다. 그런데 그날 예수님을 만나고 난 후 물을 길으러 왔던 그녀의 목적이 갑자기 바뀌어버렸습니다. 그녀는 물동이를 버려두고, 급히 돌아가서 예수님이 자기에게 한 말을 다른 사람들에게 이야기했습니다(28-29절). 물이 필요했던 실제의 상황조차도 방금 만난 그분에 대해 다른 사람들에게 이야기하는 것에는 비교할 바가 못 되었던 것입니다. 베드로와 안드레도 예수님이 처음 그들을 부르셨을 때 비슷한 일을 했습니다. 그들은 생계 수단이었던 그물을 버려두고 예수님을 따랐습니다(마 4:18-20). 야고보와 요한도 예수님이 부르셨을 때 그물과 배, 그리고 심지어는 그들의 아버지까지 버려두고 예수님을 따랐습니다(21-22절). 예수 그리스도를 따르는 우리의 새로운 삶은 영원한 만족을 주지 못하는 것들을 비롯해서 많은 것들을 버려두고 떠나는 것을 의미할 수도 있습니다. 우리가 한때 갈망했던 것들은 예수님이 주시는 생명과 “생수”에는 비견될 수 없습니다.

Christ showed His love by dying for us; we show ours by living for Him.

John 4:9-14,27-29

[9] Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, "How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
[10] Jesus answered and said to her, 'If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water."
[11] The woman said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?
[12] "Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?"
[13] Jesus answered and said to her, 'Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,
[14] 'but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."

[27] And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, "What do You seek?" or, "Why are You talking with her?"
[28] The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men,
[29] "Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"

이제 오직 예수님만 만족 주시며
다른 이름은 내게 없다네
주 예수 안에서 찾을 수 있는
사랑과 생명, 영원한 기쁨이 있을 뿐

그리스도는 우리를 위해 죽으심으로 그분의 사랑을 보여주셨고,
우리는 그분을 위해 살아감으로 우리의 사랑을 보여준다.

요한복음 4:9-14,27-29

[9] 사마리아 여자가 이르되 당신은 유대인으로서 어찌하여 사마리아 여자인 나에게 물을 달라 하나이까 하니 이는 유대인이 사마리아인과 상종하지 아니함이러라
[10] 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 네가 만일 하나님의 선물과 또 네게 물 좀 달라 하는 이가 누구인 줄 알았더라면 네가 그에게 구하였을 것이요 그가 생수를 네게 주었으리라
[11] 여자가 이르되 주여 물 길을 그릇도 없고 이 우물은 깊은데 어디서 당신이 그 생수를 얻겠사옵나이까
[12] 우리 조상 야곱이 이 우물을 우리에게 주셨고 또 여기서 자기와 자기 아들들과 짐승이 다 마셨는데 당신이 야곱보다 더 크니이까
[13] 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 이 물을 마시는 자마다 다시 목마르려니와
[14] 내가 주는 물을 마시는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리니 내가 주는 물은 그 속에서 영생하도록 솟아나는 샘물이 되리라

[27] 이 때에 제자들이 돌아와서 예수께서 여자와 말씀하시는 것을 이상히 여겼으나 무엇을 구하시나이까 어찌하여 그와 말씀하시나이까 묻는 자가 없더라
[28] 여자가 물동이를 버려 두고 동네로 들어가서 사람들에게 이르되
[29] 내가 행한 모든 일을 내게 말한 사람을 와서 보라 이는 그리스도가 아니냐 하니
