Standing On The Edge		가장자리에 서서
[ Joshua 3:9 - 3:17 ] - hymn 301 [The Israelites] set out ... to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before [them]. — Joshua 3:14 My little girl stood apprehensively at the pool¡¯s edge. As a nonswimmer, she was just learning to become comfortable in the water. Her instructor waited in the pool with outstretched arms. As my daughter hesitated, I saw the questions in her eyes: Will you catch me? What will happen if my head goes under? The Israelites may have wondered what would happen when they crossed the Jordan River. Could they trust God to make dry ground appear in the riverbed? Was God guiding their new leader, Joshua, as He had led Moses? Would God help His people defeat the threatening Canaanites who lived just across the river? To learn the answers to these questions, the Israelites had to engage in a test of faith¦¡they had to act. So they ¡°set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before [them]¡±(v.14). Exercising their faith allowed them to see that God was with them. He was still directing Joshua, and He would help them settle in Canaan (vv.7,10,17). If you are facing a test of faith, you too can move forward based on God¡¯s character and His unfailing promises. Relying on Him will help you move from where you are to where He wants you to be. — Jennifer Benson Schuldt		[ 여호수아 3:9 - 3:17 ] - 찬송가 301 장 백성이 요단을 건너려고 자기들의 장막을 떠날 때에 제사장들은 언약궤를 메고 백성 앞에서 나아가니라 — 여호수아 3:14 어린 딸이 수영장 난간에 불안해하며 서 있었습니다. 수영을 처음 해 보는 아이는 이제 막 물과 친숙해지려고 노력하고 있었습니다. 딸의 수영강사가 수영장 안에서 손을 벌리고 기다리고 있었습니다. 주저하는 딸의 눈 속에서 나는 이런 질문을 읽을 수 있었습니다. ‘나를 잡아줄 거죠? 머리가 물속으로 빠지면 어떻게 되지요?’ 이스라엘 백성들도 요단강을 건널 때 어떤 일이 일어날까 의심했을 것입니다. 정말로 하나님이 강바닥의 마른 땅이 드러나게 하실까? 하나님이 모세를 이끄셨던 것처럼 그들의 새 지도자 여호수아도 그렇게 인도해 주실까? 하나님의 백성들을 도와 바로 강 건너에 살고 있는 위협적인 가나안 족속을 물리치게 해 주실까? 그런 질문들의 답을 얻기 위해 이스라엘 백성들은 믿음의 시험에 통과해야 했으며, 바로 행동으로 옮겨야 했던 것입니다. 그래서 그들은 “요단을 건너려고 자기들의 장막을 떠날 때에 제사장들은 언약궤를 메고 백성 앞에서 나아갔습니다”(14절). 그들의 믿음을 직접 실행해 봤을 때, 그들은 하나님이 그들과 함께 계심을 볼 수 있었습니다. 하나님은 여호수아를 계속 인도하고 계셨고, 그가 이스라엘 백성들을 가나안에 정착할 수 있도록 도와줄 것이었습니다(7, 10, 17절). 만약 당신이 믿음의 시험을 마주하고 있다면, 당신도 하나님의 성품과 하나님의 확실한 약속에 의지하여 나아가십시오. 하나님을 의지하면 당신이 있는 곳으로부터 하나님이 우리가 있기를 원하시는 곳으로 옮겨가는 데 도움이 될 것입니다.

Lord, we¡¯re prone to quickly forget Your goodness
and care for us. May we trust You today and into the
new year—whatever uncertainties we face. You are the
God who can be trusted.

Fear fades when we trust our Father.

Joshua 3:9-17

[9] So Joshua said to the children of Israel, "Come here, and hear the words of the LORD your God."
[10] And Joshua said, "By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Hivites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Jebusites:
[11] "Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan.
[12] "Now therefore, take for yourselves twelve men from the tribes of Israel, one man from every tribe.
[13] "And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests who bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, the waters that come down from upstream, and they shall stand as a heap."
[14] So it was, when the people set out from their camp to cross over the Jordan, with the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people,
[15] and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest),
[16] that the waters which came down from upstream stood still, and rose in a heap very far away at Adam, the city that is beside Zaretan. So the waters that went down into the Sea of the Arabah, the Salt Sea, failed, and were cut off; and the people crossed over opposite Jericho.
[17] Then the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan.

주님, 우리는 주님의 선하심과 우리를 돌보심을 쉽게 잊어버리는
경향이 있습니다. 오늘도 어떤 불확실한 일이 있더라도
주님을 신뢰하며 새해를 맞게 해 주옵소서.
주님은 우리의 신실한 하나님이십니다.

두려움은 우리 하나님 아버지를 신뢰할 때 사라진다.

여호수아 3:9-17

[9] 여호수아가 이스라엘 자손에게 이르되 이리 와서 너희의 하나님 여호와의 말씀을 들으라 하고
[10] 또 말하되 살아 계신 하나님이 너희 가운데에 계시사 가나안 족속과 헷 족속과 히위 족속과 브리스 족속과 기르가스 족속과 아모리 족속과 여부스 족속을 너희 앞에서 반드시 쫓아내실 줄을 이것으로서 너희가 알리라
[11] 보라 온 땅의 주의 언약궤가 너희 앞에서 요단을 건너가나니
[12] 이제 이스라엘 지파 중에서 각 지파에 한 사람씩 열두 명을 택하라
[13] 온 땅의 주 여호와의 궤를 멘 제사장들의 발바닥이 요단 물을 밟고 멈추면 요단 물 곧 위에서부터 흘러내리던 물이 끊어지고 한 곳에 쌓여 서리라
[14] 백성이 요단을 건너려고 자기들의 장막을 떠날 때에 제사장들은 언약궤를 메고 백성 앞에서 나아가니라
[15] 요단이 곡식 거두는 시기에는 항상 언덕에 넘치더라 궤를 멘 자들이 요단에 이르며 궤를 멘 제사장들의 발이 물 가에 잠기자
[16] 곧 위에서부터 흘러내리던 물이 그쳐서 사르단에 가까운 매우 멀리 있는 아담 성읍 변두리에 일어나 한 곳에 쌓이고 아라바의 바다 염해로 향하여 흘러가는 물은 온전히 끊어지매 백성이 여리고 앞으로 바로 건널새
[17] 여호와의 언약궤를 멘 제사장들은 요단 가운데 마른 땅에 굳게 섰고 그 모든 백성이 요단을 건너기를 마칠 때까지 모든 이스라엘은 그 마른 땅으로 건너갔더라
