[ John 15:9 - 15:17 ] - hymn 542 Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. — 2 Peter 3:18 Pablo Casals was considered to be the preeminent cellist of the first half of the 20th century. When he was still playing his cello in the middle of his tenth decade of life, a young reporter asked, ¡°Mr. Casals, you are 95 years old and the greatest cellist that ever lived. Why do you still practice 6 hours a day?¡± Mr. Casals answered, ¡°Because I think I¡¯m making progress.¡± What a great attitude! As believers in Christ, we should never be satisfied to think we have reached some selfproclaimed pinnacle of spiritual success, but rather continue to ¡°grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ¡±(2 Peter 3:18). Jesus reminds us in John 15:16 that He chose us to ¡°go and bear fruit.¡±The result of healthy growth is continuing to bear spiritual fruit throughout our lives. Our Lord promises: ¡°I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit¡±(v.5). In a steady and faithful progression to become more and more like the One we love and serve, we can be confident that He who began ¡°a good work¡±in us will continue it until it is finally finished on the day when He returns (Phil.1:6). — Cindy Hess Kasper		[ 요한복음 15:9 - 15:17 ] - 찬송가 542 장 오직 우리 주 곧 구주 예수 그리스도의 은혜와 그를 아는 지식에서 자라 가라 — 베드로후서 3:18 파블로 카잘스는 20세기 전반기의 가장 뛰어난 첼로연주자로 알려져 있습니다. 그가 90세 중반의 나이에도 여전히 첼로를 연주하고 있을 때, 한 젊은 기자가 이렇게 물었습니다. “카잘스씨, 당신은 95세이고 가장 위대한 첼로 연주자이십니다. 그런데 왜 아직도 매일 6시간씩 연습하십니까?” 카잘스가 대답했습니다. “내가 계속 나아지고 있다고 생각하기 때문이지요.” 이 얼마나 훌륭한 마음가짐입니까! 우리도 그리스도를 믿는 자로서 절대로 어떤 자신이 정한 영적 성취의 정점에 도달했다고 착각하면서 만족하지 말고, 계속해서 “우리 주 곧 구주 예수 그리스도의 은혜와 그를 아는 지식에서 자라 가야”(벧후 3:18) 합니다. 예수님은 우리로 “가서 열매를 맺게”하기 위하여 우리를 택하셨다고 요한복음 15장 16절에서 상기시켜 주십니다. 우리 주님은 “나는 포도나무요 너희는 가지니 그가 내 안에, 내가 그 안에 거하면 사람이 열매를 많이 맺나니”(5절)라고 약속해주십니다. 우리가 꾸준히 그리고 성실하게 우리가 사랑하고 섬기는 주님을 더욱더 닮아갈 때, 우리 속에 “착한 일”을 시작하신 주님이 다시 오실 그날에 온전히 이루실 그때까지 그 일을 계속하실 것이라는 것을 우리는 확신할 수 있습니다(빌 1:6).

produces fruit in our lives.

John 15:9-17

[9] "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
[10] "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.
[11] "These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
[12] "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
[13] "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
[14] "You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
[15] "No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
[16] "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
[17] "These things I command you, that you love one another.

주님은 부족함 없는 포도나무시니
내 구주께 더 가까이 나아가리라
주님만이 나로 열매 맺게 하시니
하늘 능력의 복된 근원되시네

하나님은 우리 마음에 은밀히 역사하셔서
우리 삶에 열매를 맺게 하신다.

요한복음 15:9-17

[9] 아버지께서 나를 사랑하신 것 같이 나도 너희를 사랑하였으니 나의 사랑 안에 거하라
[10] 내가 아버지의 계명을 지켜 그의 사랑 안에 거하는 것 같이 너희도 내 계명을 지키면 내 사랑 안에 거하리라
[11] 내가 이것을 너희에게 이름은 내 기쁨이 너희 안에 있어 너희 기쁨을 충만하게 하려 함이라
[12] 내 계명은 곧 내가 너희를 사랑한 것 같이 너희도 서로 사랑하라 하는 이것이니라
[13] 사람이 친구를 위하여 자기 목숨을 버리면 이보다 더 큰 사랑이 없나니
[14] 너희는 내가 명하는 대로 행하면 곧 나의 친구라
[15] 이제부터는 너희를 종이라 하지 아니하리니 종은 주인이 하는 것을 알지 못함이라 너희를 친구라 하였노니 내가 내 아버지께 들은 것을 다 너희에게 알게 하였음이라
[16] 너희가 나를 택한 것이 아니요 내가 너희를 택하여 세웠나니 이는 너희로 가서 열매를 맺게 하고 또 너희 열매가 항상 있게 하여 내 이름으로 아버지께 무엇을 구하든지 다 받게 하려 함이라
[17] 내가 이것을 너희에게 명함은 너희로 서로 사랑하게 하려 함이라
