[ Jeremiah 42:1 - 42:12 ] - hymn 543 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? — Psalm 27:1 Someone was shadowing me. In a darkened hallway, I turned the corner to go up a flight of stairs and was alarmed by what I saw, stopping dead in my tracks. It happened again a few days later. I came around the back of a favorite coffee shop and saw the large shape of a person coming at me. Both incidents ended with a smile, however. I¡¯d been frightened by my own shadow! The prophet Jeremiah talked about the difference between real and imagined fears. A group of his Jewish countrymen asked him to find out whether the Lord wanted them to stay in Jerusalem or return to Egypt for safety because they feared the king of Babylon (Jer.42:1-3). Jeremiah told them that if they stayed and trusted God, they didn¡¯t need to be afraid (vv.10-12). But if they returned to Egypt, the king of Babylon would find them (vv.15-16). In a world of real dangers, God had given Israel reason to trust Him in Jerusalem. He had already rescued them from Egypt. Centuries later, the long-awaited Messiah died for us to deliver us from our own sin and fear of death. May our Almighty God show us today how to live in the security of His shadow, rather than in shadowy fears of our own making. — Mart DeHaan		[ 예레미야 42:1 - 42:12 ] - 찬송가 543 장 여호와는 나의 빛이요 나의 구원이시니 내가 누구를 두려워하리요 — 시편 27:1 누군가가 나를 그림자처럼 따라다니고 있었습니다. 어두컴컴해진 복도에서, 코너를 돌아 계단을 올라가려다가 나는 무언가를 보고 흠칫 놀라 가던 걸음을 멈추어야 했습니다. 며칠 후에 같은 일이 또 일어났습니다. 단골 커피가게의 뒤쪽을 막 돌아가려고 할 때, 덩치 큰 사람의 모습이 내게로 오고 있는 것을 보았습니다. 그러나 이 두 경우 다 결국 나는 미소 짓고 말았습니다. 실은 내 그림자를 보고 무서워했던 것입니다! 예레미야 선지자는 진짜 두려움과 상상에 의한 두려움의 차이에 관하여 말하고 있습니다. 한 무리의 이스라엘 사람들이 예레미야에게 와서 주님께서 그들이 예루살렘에 남아있기를 원하시는지, 아니면 그들이 바벨론 왕을 두려워하기 때문에 그들의 안전을 위해 애굽으로 돌아가기를 원하시는지 알아봐달라고 요청했습니다(42:1-3). 예레미야는 그들에게 만일 예루살렘에 머무르며 하나님을 의지한다면 두려워하지 않아도 된다고 말했습니다(10-12절). 그러나 만약 그들이 애굽으로 돌아간다면, 바벨론 왕이 그들을 찾아낼 것이라고 하였습니다(15-16절). 하나님은 실제로 위험에 처한 이스라엘에게 예루살렘에 남아 하나님을 신뢰해야 할 이유를 이미 주셨습니다. 하나님이 이미 그들을 애굽에서 구원해 내셨기 때문이었습니다. 오랜 세월이 지난 후, 오랫동안 기다리던 메시아가 오셔서 우리의 죄와 죽음의 두려움으로부터 우리를 구하시려고 돌아가셨습니다. 전능하신 하나님, 오늘 우리가 우리 스스로 만드는 두려움의 그림자가 아니라, 어떻게 하나님의 안전한 그늘 안에서 살 수 있는지를 보여주소서.

Under the protecting shadow of God¡¯s wing, the little shadows of life lose their terror.

Jeremiah 42:1-12

[1] Now all the captains of the forces, Johanan the son of Kareah, Jezaniah the son of Hoshaiah, and all the people, from the least to the greatest, came near
[2] and said to Jeremiah the prophet, "Please, let our petition be acceptable to you, and pray for us to the LORD your God, for all this remnant (since we are left but a few of many, as you can see),
[3] "that the LORD your God may show us the way in which we should walk and the thing we should do."
[4] Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, "I have heard. Indeed, I will pray to the LORD your God according to your words, and it shall be, that whatever the LORD answers you, I will declare it to you. I will keep nothing back from you."
[5] So they said to Jeremiah, "Let the LORD be a true and faithful witness between us, if we do not do according to everything which the LORD your God sends us by you.
[6] "Whether it is pleasing or displeasing, we will obey the voice of the LORD our God to whom we send you, that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of the LORD our God."
[7] And it happened after ten days that the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah.
[8] Then he called Johanan the son of Kareah, all the captains of the forces which were with him, and all the people from the least even to the greatest,
[9] and said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, to whom you sent me to present your petition before Him:
[10] 'If you will still remain in this land, then I will build you and not pull you down, and I will plant you and not pluck you up. For I relent concerning the disaster that I have brought upon you.
[11] 'Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, of whom you are afraid; do not be afraid of him,' says the LORD, 'for I am with you, to save you and deliver you from his hand.
[12] 'And I will show you mercy, that he may have mercy on you and cause you to return to your own land.'

하늘이 어두워질 때에
등불이 점점 희미해질 때에
두려움의 그림자가 찾아올 때에
주를 신뢰하고 하나님을 바라보라

하나님의 날개 그늘 아래 보호를 받을 때,
삶의 작은 두려움의 그림자들은 사라진다.

예레미야 42:1-12

[1] 이에 모든 군대의 지휘관과 가레아의 아들 요하난과 호사야의 아들 여사냐와 백성의 낮은 자로부터 높은 자까지 다 나아와
[2] 선지자 예레미야에게 이르되 당신은 우리의 탄원을 듣고 이 남아 있는 모든 자를 위하여 당신의 하나님 여호와께 기도해 주소서 당신이 보는 바와 같이 우리는 많은 사람 중에서 남은 적은 무리이니
[3] 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 우리가 마땅히 갈 길과 할 일을 보이시기를 원하나이다
[4] 선지자 예레미야가 그들에게 이르되 내가 너희 말을 들었은즉 너희 말대로 너희 하나님 여호와께 기도하고 무릇 여호와께서 너희에게 응답하시는 것을 숨김이 없이 너희에게 말하리라
[5] 그들이 예레미야에게 이르되 우리가 당신의 하나님 여호와께서 당신을 보내사 우리에게 이르시는 모든 말씀대로 행하리이다 여호와께서는 우리 가운데에 진실하고 성실한 증인이 되시옵소서
[6] 우리가 당신을 우리 하나님 여호와께 보냄은 그의 목소리가 우리에게 좋든지 좋지 않든지를 막론하고 순종하려 함이라 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와의 목소리를 순종하면 우리에게 복이 있으리이다 하니라
[7] 십일 후에 여호와의 말씀이 예레미야에게 임하니
[8] 그가 가레아의 아들 요하난과 그와 함께 있는 모든 군 지휘관과 백성의 낮은 자로부터 높은 자까지 다 부르고
[9] 그들에게 이르되 너희가 나를 보내어 너희의 간구를 이스라엘의 하나님 여호와께 드리게 하지 아니하였느냐 그가 이렇게 이르니라
[10] 너희가 이 땅에 눌러 앉아 산다면 내가 너희를 세우고 헐지 아니하며 너희를 심고 뽑지 아니하리니 이는 내가 너희에게 내린 재난에 대하여 뜻을 돌이킴이라
[11] 여호와의 말씀이니라 너희는 너희가 두려워하는 바벨론의 왕을 겁내지 말라 내가 너희와 함께 있어 너희를 구원하며 그의 손에서 너희를 건지리니 두려워하지 말라
[12] 내가 너희를 불쌍히 여기리니 그도 너희를 불쌍히 여겨 너희를 너희 본향으로 돌려보내리라 하셨느니라
