The Ultimate Reunion		궁극적인 재회
[ 1 Thessalonians 4:13 - 4:18 ] - hymn 180 We who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them. — 1 Thessalonians 4:17 I¡¯ll never forget the vigil of sitting by my dad¡¯s bed as he spent his last few days with us before slipping into eternity. To this day the moment of his passing continues to have a profound effect on me. My dad was always there for me. I could call him whenever I needed counsel. I have great memories of our days fishing together; we would talk about God and the Bible, and I would prompt him to tell those fun stories from his youth on the farm. But when Dad took his last breath, I became aware of the irreversible finality of death. He was gone from this world. And my heart had a vacancy sign hung on its door. Yet, even in the midst of such loss and grief, God¡¯s Word speaks encouragingly into the emptiness. The apostle Paul teaches us that at the coming of the Lord Jesus, those who have gone on before will rise first and we ¡°shall be caught up together with them ... And thus we shall always be with the Lord¡±(1 Thess. 4:17). Now that¡¯s a reunion I¡¯m really looking forward to! Not only to be reunited with my dad, but to be with Jesus forever. C.S.Lewis said, ¡°Christians never say goodbye.¡± I¡¯m eagerly awaiting that ultimate reunion! — Joe Stowell		[ 데살로니가전서 4:13 - 4:18 ] - 찬송가 180 장 우리 살아남은 자들도 그들과 함께 구름 속으로 끌어 올려 — 데살로니가전서 4:17 아버지가 영원히 떠나시기 전 마지막 며칠을 우리와 함께 보내실 때 아버지 침대 옆에 앉아 밤을 새우던 것을 나는 결코 잊을 수 없습니다. 아버지가 돌아가시던 그 순간은 오늘까지도 나에게 깊은 영향을 계속해서 주고 있습니다. 아버지는 나를 위하여 항상 그곳에 계셔서, 내가 조언이 필요할 때마다 아버지에게 전화를 할 수 있었습니다. 우리가 같이 낚시를 하던 날들에 대한 아름다운 추억도 남아 있습니다. 우리는 하나님과 성경에 대해 이야기를 나누기도 하고, 아버지를 재촉하여 아버지가 어렸을 때 지냈던 농장에서의 재미있는 이야기를 듣기도 했습니다. 그러나 아버지가 마지막 숨을 거두실 때 나는 죽음이 되돌리지 못하는 결말이라는 것을 깨닫게 되었습니다. 아버지는 이 세상을 떠나셨고, 내 마음의 문에 ‘비어 있음’이라는 표지가 내걸렸습니다. 그러나 그런 이별과 슬픔 가운데서조차도, 성경은 공허함 속에 용기를 북돋우는 말을 심어줍니다. 바울사도는 우리에게 주 예수님이 다시 오실 때 죽은 자들이 먼저 일어나고 우리는 “그들과 함께 구름 속으로 끌어올려…그리하여 우리가 항상 주와 함께 있으리라”(살전 4:17)라고 가르쳐줍니다. 이제 내가 진정 기대하는 재회는 바로 그것입니다! 나는 내 아버지와 재회하는 것뿐만 아니라 예수님과 영원히 함께 있게 될 것을 기대합니다. C.S.루이스는 “그리스도인은 결코 작별인사를 하지 않는다.”라고 했습니다. 나는 이 궁극적인 재회를 간절히 기다리고 있습니다!

Lord, in the midst of our sorrow and loss, remind
us of the glorious eternal reunion that is waiting
for us. Comfort us in our grief and fill our hearts
with joyful anticipation of the day You will return!

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

[13] But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
[15] For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
[16] For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
[17] Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
[18] Therefore comfort one another with these words.

주님, 우리의 슬픔과 상실 가운데서도 영광스러운 영원한 재결합이
우리를 기다리고 있다는 것을 잊지 않게 해주소서.
슬픔 가운데서 우리를 위로해주시고, 주님이 다시 오실 그날을
기쁨으로 기대하는 마음으로 우리를 채워주소서.

데살로니가전서 4:13-18

[13] 형제들아 자는 자들에 관하여는 너희가 알지 못함을 우리가 원하지 아니하노니 이는 소망 없는 다른 이와 같이 슬퍼하지 않게 하려 함이라
[14] 우리가 예수께서 죽으셨다가 다시 살아나심을 믿을진대 이와 같이 예수 안에서 자는 자들도 하나님이 그와 함께 데리고 오시리라
[15] 우리가 주의 말씀으로 너희에게 이것을 말하노니 주께서 강림하실 때까지 우리 살아 남아 있는 자도 자는 자보다 결코 앞서지 못하리라
[16] 주께서 호령과 천사장의 소리와 하나님의 나팔 소리로 친히 하늘로부터 강림하시리니 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자들이 먼저 일어나고
[17] 그 후에 우리 살아 남은 자들도 그들과 함께 구름 속으로 끌어 올려 공중에서 주를 영접하게 하시리니 그리하여 우리가 항상 주와 함께 있으리라
[18] 그러므로 이러한 말로 서로 위로하라
