More Than Waiting		기다리는 일 그 이상
[ Acts 1:1 - 1:11 ] - hymn 179 A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father. — John 16:16 I don¡¯t know how it works where you live, but when I have to call for a repair for one of my appliances, the company says something like, ¡°The repairman will be there between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.¡± Since I don¡¯t know when the repair person will arrive, all I can do is wait. Jesus told His followers that He would soon be leaving them and they would need to wait for His return in ¡°a little while¡± (John 16:16). After His resurrection, they saw Him again and they hoped He would be establishing His kingdom on earth at that time. But He told them, ¡°It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority¡± (Acts 1:7). They would have to wait even longer. But they were to do more than wait. Jesus told His followers that they were to ¡°be witnesses to [Him] in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth¡±(v.8). And He gave them the Holy Spirit to empower them to do this. We still wait for Jesus¡¯ return. And while we do, it¡¯s our delight, in the Holy Spirit¡¯s power, to tell and show others who He is, what He has done for all of us through His death and resurrection, and that He has promised to return. — Anne Cetas		[ 사도행전 1:1 - 1:11 ] - 찬송가 179 장 조금 있으면 너희가 나를 보지 못하겠고 조금 있으면 너희가 나를 보리니 이는 내가 아버지께로 가기 때문이라 - 요한복음 16:16(흠정역) 당신이 사는 지역에서는 어떤지 모르겠지만, 내가 가전제품을 수리하기 위해 전화를 걸면 그 회사는 “수리하는 사람이 오후 1시에서 5시 사이에 도착할 겁니다.”라는 식으로 말을 합니다. 수리하는 사람이 언제 올지 모르기 때문에 내가 할 수 있는 일이라고는 그저 기다리는 것뿐입니다. 예수님은 제자들에게 그들 곁을 곧 떠나셨다가 “조금 있으면” 다시 돌아올 것이니 기다리라고 말씀하셨습니다(요 16:16). 예수님이 부활하신 후에, 제자들은 예수님을 다시 보고 이제 예수님이 이 땅 위에 주님의 나라를 세우실 것을 기대했습니다. 그러나 주님은 제자들에게 “때와 시기는 아버지께서 자기의 권한에 두셨으니 너희가 알 바 아니요”(행 1:7)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 제자들은 더 오랫동안 기다려야 할지도 모릅니다. 그러나 그들은 기다리는 것 이상의 일을 해야 했습니다. 예수님은 제자들에게 “예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내[주님의] 증인이 되리라”(8절)라고 하시고, 그들에게 성령을 주셔서 그들이 그 일을 행하도록 권능을 주셨습니다. 우리는 여전히 예수님의 다시 오심을 기다립니다. 그리고 우리가 기다리는 동안, 우리가 성령의 권능 안에서 다른 사람들에게 예수님이 누구시며, 예수님의 죽음과 부활을 통해서 주님이 우리 모두를 위해 무슨 일을 하셨고, 주님이 다시 돌아오신다고 약속하신 것을 기쁨으로 말하고 보여줍니다.

Dear Lord, we love You so much. We want
our words and our lives to be a witness
of Your goodness and grace. Please use
us in ways we never thought possible.

Wait and witness till Jesus returns.

Acts 1:1-11

[1] The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
[2] until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen,
[3] to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
[4] And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me;
[5] "for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now."
[6] Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"
[7] And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.
[8] "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
[9] Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
[10] And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,
[11] who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."

사랑하는 주님, 주님을 너무나 사랑합니다.
우리의 말과 우리의 삶이
주님의 선하심과 은혜로우심을 증거하게 해주소서.
우리가 결코 가능하지 않다고 생각했던 방법들로 우리를 사용해주소서.

예수님이 다시 오실 때까지 기다리면서 증인의 삶을 살라.

사도행전 1:1-11

[1] 데오빌로여 내가 먼저 쓴 글에는 무릇 예수께서 행하시며 가르치시기를 시작하심부터
[2] 그가 택하신 사도들에게 성령으로 명하시고 승천하신 날까지의 일을 기록하였노라
[3] 그가 고난 받으신 후에 또한 그들에게 확실한 많은 증거로 친히 살아 계심을 나타내사 사십 일 동안 그들에게 보이시며 하나님 나라의 일을 말씀하시니라
[4] 사도와 함께 모이사 그들에게 분부하여 이르시되 예루살렘을 떠나지 말고 내게서 들은 바 아버지께서 약속하신 것을 기다리라
[5] 요한은 물로 침례를 베풀었으나 너희는 몇 날이 못되어 성령으로 침례를 받으리라 하셨느니라
[6] 그들이 모였을 때에 예수께 여쭈어 이르되 주께서 이스라엘 나라를 회복하심이 이 때니이까 하니
[7] 이르시되 때와 시기는 아버지께서 자기의 권한에 두셨으니 너희가 알 바 아니요
[8] 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라
[9] 이 말씀을 마치시고 그들이 보는데 올려져 가시니 구름이 그를 가리어 보이지 않게 하더라
[10] 올라가실 때에 제자들이 자세히 하늘을 쳐다보고 있는데 흰 옷 입은 두 사람이 그들 곁에 서서
[11] 이르되 갈릴리 사람들아 어찌하여 서서 하늘을 쳐다보느냐 너희 가운데서 하늘로 올려지신 이 예수는 하늘로 가심을 본 그대로 오시리라 하였느니라
