Life-Giving Rain		생명을 주는 비
[ Acts 6:1 - 6:10 ] - hymn 182 They were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. — Acts 6:10 During the August heat of 1891, R. G. Dyrenforth arrived in Midland, Texas, determined to blast rain from the sky. Known as a ¡°concussionist,¡± he and his team launched and detonated huge balloons filled with explosive gases, fired cannons, and exploded piles of dynamite on the ground—shaking both earth and sky. Some believed he made it rain a little, but most said all he caused was noise. The explosive power was impressive but ineffective. When the early church needed overseers, they sought people with a different kind of power. They chose ¡°seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom¡± (Acts 6:3) to manage the daily distribution of food. One of those was Stephen, a man ¡°full of faith and power, [who] did great wonders and signs among the people¡± (v.8). When disputes arose, those who argued with Stephen ¡°were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke¡±(v.10). The Bible makes it clear that Stephen¡¯s spiritual effectiveness came from being filled with the Holy Spirit, who gave him the right balance of faith, wisdom, and power. God¡¯s Spirit in our lives today replaces the loud noise of self-interest with His gentle, life-giving rain. — David McCasland		[ 사도행전 6:1 - 6:10 ] - 찬송가 182 장 스데반이 지혜와 성령으로 말함을 그들이 능히 당하지 못하여 - 사도행전 6:10 1891년 무더운 8월, 텍사스주 미들랜드에 도착한 다이렌포스는 하늘에서 비를 터뜨리기로 작정했습니다. “충격론자”로 알려졌던 그는 팀원들과 함께 폭발성 가스로 가득 찬 거대한 풍선을 하늘로 날려 폭발시키고, 땅에서는 대포를 쏘고 다이나마이트를 무더기로 터뜨리면서 천지를 진동시켰습니다. 어떤 사람들은 그가 비를 약간 내리게 했다고 믿었지만, 대부분의 사람들은 소음만 요란했다고 말했습니다. 폭발력은 대단했지만 효과는 없었습니다. 감독자가 필요했던 초대교회는 다른 이들과 구분되는 권능을 지닌 사람들을 찾았습니다. 그리고 양식을 매일 나눠주는 일을 담당하도록 “성령과 지혜가 충만하여 칭찬 받는 사람 일곱”(행 6:3)을 택했습니다. 그들 중 한 사람이 “은혜와 권능이 충만하여 큰 기사와 표적을 민간에 행한”(8절) 스데반이었습니다. 논쟁이 벌어졌을 때 스데반과 다투었던 사람들은 “스데반이 지혜와 성령으로 말함을 능히 당하지 못하였습니다”(10절). 성경은 스데반의 영적인 능력이, 믿음과 지혜와 권능을 올바로 균형 잡히게 부어주신 성령님이 그에게 충만함으로 인해 생겨났다고 분명히 말합니다. 오늘날 우리의 삶 가운데 함께 하시는 성령님이, 이기심으로 가득 찬 요란한 소음을 그분의 온화한 생명의 비로 바꾸어주십니다.

Holy Spirit, I want my life to be marked
by Your power. May my words and actions
give life-giving rain to encourage others
to know You and trust You.

In our life for Christ we accomplish nothing without the power of the Spirit.

Acts 6:1-10

[1] Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.
[2] Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, "It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.
[3] "Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;
[4] "but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word."
[5] And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,
[6] whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.
[7] Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
[8] And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.
[9] Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen.
[10] And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

성령님, 제 인생이 당신의 권능으로 감화 받기를 원합니다.
제 말과 행동이 다른 이로 하여금
성령님을 알고 신뢰하도록 격려하는
생명의 비가 되게 하소서.

성령의 능력이 없이는 우리 삶에서 그리스도를 위해
아무것도 이룰 수가 없다.

사도행전 6:1-10

[1] 그 때에 제자가 더 많아졌는데 헬라파 유대인들이 자기의 과부들이 매일의 구제에 빠지므로 히브리파 사람을 원망하니
[2] 열두 사도가 모든 제자를 불러 이르되 우리가 하나님의 말씀을 제쳐 놓고 접대를 일삼는 것이 마땅하지 아니하니
[3] 형제들아 너희 가운데서 성령과 지혜가 충만하여 칭찬 받는 사람 일곱을 택하라 우리가 이 일을 그들에게 맡기고
[4] 우리는 오로지 기도하는 일과 말씀 사역에 힘쓰리라 하니
[5] 온 무리가 이 말을 기뻐하여 믿음과 성령이 충만한 사람 스데반과 또 빌립과 브로고로와 니가노르와 디몬과 바메나와 유대교에 입교했던 안디옥 사람 니골라를 택하여
[6] 사도들 앞에 세우니 사도들이 기도하고 그들에게 안수하니라
[7] 하나님의 말씀이 점점 왕성하여 예루살렘에 있는 제자의 수가 더 심히 많아지고 허다한 제사장의 무리도 이 도에 복종하니라
[8] 스데반이 은혜와 권능이 충만하여 큰 기사와 표적을 민간에 행하니
[9] 이른 바 자유민들 즉 구레네인, 알렉산드리아인, 길리기아와 아시아에서 온 사람들의 회당에서 어떤 자들이 일어나 스데반과 더불어 논쟁할새
[10] 스데반이 지혜와 성령으로 말함을 그들이 능히 당하지 못하여
