Grain On The Mountaintop		산꼭대기의 곡물
[ Psalms 72:12 - 72:20 ] - hymn 214 There will be an abundance of grain in the earth, on the top of the mountains. — Psalm 72:16 I¡¯ve been on a number of mountaintops in the US in my time, and I can tell you that not much grows up there. The summits of mountains are bare rock and lichen. That¡¯s not where you would normally find an abundance of grain. But Solomon, who wrote Psalm 72, asked God for ¡°an abundance of grain ... on the top of the mountains,¡± to characterize his reign as king. If grain on the mountain is so unusual, what is Solomon suggesting? That God¡¯s power can produce results in even the most unpromising soil? Perhaps you think of yourself as a little person, with very little to bring to the kingdom. Take courage: God can produce an abundant harvest through you. This is one of the ironies of faith: God uses the insignificant to accomplish the great. Not many of us are wise or noble; most of us are anonymous and far from extraordinary. Yet all of us can be used. And contrary to what we might think, it is because of our weakness that we can be used by God (1 Cor.1:27-29; 2 Cor.12:10). It¡¯s possible to be too big or proud for God to use, but we can never be too little. ¡°Out of weakness¡± we are ¡°made strong¡±(Heb.11:34). By God¡¯s great power, we can do all that He has called us to do. — David Roper		[ 시편 72:12 - 72:20 ] - 찬송가 214 장 산꼭대기의 땅에도 곡식이 풍성하고…왕성하리로다 - 시편 72:16 나는 살면서 미국에 있는 많은 산들의 꼭대기에 올라봤기에, 그곳에는 자라는 식물이 별로 없다고 말할 수 있습니다. 산꼭대기는 벌거벗은 바위와 이끼로 덮여있습니다. 그곳은 보통 당신이 풍성한 곡물을 찾을 수 있는 그런 장소가 아닙니다. 하지만 시편 72편의 저자인 솔로몬은 왕으로서의 자기 통치를 특징짓기 위해 “산꼭대기의 풍성한 곡물”을 하나님께 구했습니다. 만약 산꼭대기에 곡물이 자란다는 것이 아주 비정상적인 것이라면, 솔로몬은 대체 무엇을 말하고 싶은 걸까요? 전혀 가망 없는 땅에서조차 하나님의 능력으로 수확을 할 수 있다는 것일까요? 어쩌면 당신은 스스로를 하나님의 나라에 가져갈 것이 별로 없는 하찮은 사람으로 생각할지도 모릅니다. 그러나 용기를 내십시오. 하나님은 당신을 통해 풍성한 추수의 결실을 맺으실 수 있습니다. 하나님이 하찮은 사람들을 쓰셔서 엄청난 일들을 이루신다는 것이 믿음에서 아이러니한 일 중의 하나입니다. 우리 많은 사람들은 지혜롭거나 고상하지도 않으며, 또 우리 대부분은 이름도 없고 비범한 것과는 거리가 멉니다. 하지만 우리 모두다 쓰임 받을 수 있습니다. 우리 생각과 상반되게, 우리의 약함 때문에 우리는 하나님께 쓰임 받을 수 있습니다(고전 1:27-29; 고후 12:10). 너무 크거나 너무 자랑할 것이 많아 하나님이 쓰시지 못하는 것이 있을 수는 있겠지만, 하나님이 쓰시기에 너무 작은 것은 결코 없습니다. “연약한 가운데서” 우리는 “강하게 됩니다”(히 11:34). 하나님의 위대한 능력 안에서 우리는 그분이 우리에게 하라고 하신 어떤 일도 할 수 있습니다.

Lord, You work through such common things—
those of us with flaws and weaknesses.
We are in awe of Your power and humbled by Your
choice of us. Our hearts long to be faithful to You.

To experience God¡¯s power, we must first admit that we are weak.

Psalm 72:12-20

[12] For He will deliver the needy when he cries, The poor also, and him who has no helper.
[13] He will spare the poor and needy, And will save the souls of the needy.
[14] He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; And precious shall be their blood in His sight.
[15] And He shall live; And the gold of Sheba will be given to Him; Prayer also will be made for Him continually, And daily He shall be praised.
[16] There will be an abundance of grain in the earth, On the top of the mountains; Its fruit shall wave like Lebanon; And those of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
[17] His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun. And men shall be blessed in Him; All nations shall call Him blessed.
[18] Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, Who only does wondrous things!
[19] And blessed be His glorious name forever! And let the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen and Amen.

주님, 결함도 많고 연약한 우리와 같이
그렇게 평범한 것들을 통해 주님은 역사하십니다.
주님의 능력을 경외하고 우리를 선택하신 주님 앞에 겸허해진 우리는
마음으로 주님께 신실하기를 간절히 원합니다.

하나님의 능력을 경험하려면
먼저 우리의 약함을 인정해야 한다.

시편 72:12-20

[12] 그는 궁핍한 자가 부르짖을 때에 건지며 도움이 없는 가난한 자도 건지며
[13] 그는 가난한 자와 궁핍한 자를 불쌍히 여기며 궁핍한 자의 생명을 구원하며
[14] 그들의 생명을 압박과 강포에서 구원하리니 그들의 피가 그의 눈 앞에서 존귀히 여김을 받으리로다
[15] 그들이 생존하여 스바의 금을 그에게 드리며 사람들이 그를 위하여 항상 기도하고 종일 찬송하리로다
[16] 산 꼭대기의 땅에도 곡식이 풍성하고 그것의 열매가 레바논 같이 흔들리며 성에 있는 자가 땅의 풀 같이 왕성하리로다
[17] 그의 이름이 영구함이여 그의 이름이 해와 같이 장구하리로다 사람들이 그로 말미암아 복을 받으리니 모든 민족이 다 그를 복되다 하리로다
[18] 홀로 기이한 일들을 행하시는 여호와 하나님 곧 이스라엘의 하나님을 찬송하며
[19] 그 영화로운 이름을 영원히 찬송할지어다 온 땅에 그의 영광이 충만할지어다 아멘 아멘
[20] 이새의 아들 다윗의 기도가 끝나니라
