[ Luke 2:6 - 2:7 ] - hymn 579 To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. — Ecclesiastes 3:1 When I was a pastor, I served many women who were moms. I called on them in the hospital and rejoiced with them for their precious babies who had come into the world. I counseled with anxious mothers and tried to assure them that God was watching over their rebellious teenagers. I stood with mothers at the bedside of injured or ill children and felt their pain. And I cried with them in their grief when their son or daughter died. Mary, the mother of Jesus, also experienced times of joy and sorrow. What joy she must have felt when the Christ-child was born! (Luke 2:7). What excitement when the shepherds and later the wise men came to worship Him (vv.8-20; Matt.2:1-12). What uneasiness when Simeon prophesied that a sword would pierce her soul (Luke 2:35). And what heart-wrenching grief as Mary watched her Son dying on the cross! (John 19:25-30). But her seasons of being a mother didn¡¯t end with that terrible scene. She rejoiced that He rose from the grave. Mothers, and all of us for that matter, experience many great joys and intense sorrows. But when we submit our lives to the Lord, every season of life can serve His eternal purposes.		[ 누가복음 2:6 - 2:7 ] - 찬송가 579 장 범사에 기한이 있고 천하 만사가 다 때가 있나니 - 전도서 3:1 목사로 사역할 때 나는 많은 어머니들을 섬겼습니다. 병원으로 찾아가서 세상에 태어난 소중한 아기들을 보며 그들과 함께 기뻐했고, 반항하는 십대자녀들로 인해 불안해하는 어머니들을 상담하며, 하나님이 그들의 자녀들을 지켜보고 계신다는 것을 힘써 확신시키기도 했습니다. 부상을 당했거나 아픈 자녀들의 침상에 어머니들과 함께 서서 그 고통을 같이 느꼈으며, 그들의 아들이나 딸이 죽었을 때 슬픔에 잠겨있는 그들과 함께 울었습니다. 예수님의 어머니 마리아도 기쁨과 슬픔의 시간을 경험했습니다. 아기 그리스도가 태어났을 때 그녀는 얼마나 기뻤을까요(눅 2:7). 목자들이 경배하고 또 나중에 동방박사들이 경배 드리러 왔을 때 얼마나 흥분했을까요(8-20절; 마 2:1-12). 검이 마리아의 마음을 찌를 것이라고 시므온이 예언했을 때 얼마나 불안했을까요(눅 2:35). 그리고 자신의 아들이 십자가에서 죽는 모습을 보면서 얼마나 마음이 찢어졌을까요(요 19:25-30). 그러나 그 끔직한 장면이 어머니로서 그녀의 마지막 장면은 아니었습니다. 무덤에서 예수님이 부활하셨을 때 그녀는 아주 기뻐했습니다. 어머니들, 그리고 어쩌면 우리 모두는 큰 기쁨과 깊은 슬픔을 많이 경험합니다. 그러나 우리의 인생을 주님께 드릴 때, 우리 인생의 각 계절에서 주님의 영원한 목적을 이루게 될 것입니다.

Being a mom is a sacred partnership with God.

Luke 2:6-7,25-35

[6] While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
[7] and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

[25] Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
[26] It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
[27] Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,
[28] Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:
[29] "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace.
[30] For my eyes have seen your salvation,
[31] which you have prepared in the sight of all people,
[32] a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
[33] The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him.
[34] Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,
[35] so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."

주님, 행복한 순간들은
오랜 시간이 지나도 결코 희미해지지 않기에
모든 눈물의 골짜기를 지나더라도
어머니임을 감사드립니다

어머니가 된다는 것은
하나님과 거룩한 파트너십을 갖는 것이다.

누가복음 2:6-7,25-35

[6] 거기 있을 그 때에 해산할 날이 차서
[7] 첫아들을 낳아 강보로 싸서 구유에 뉘었으니 이는 여관에 있을 곳이 없음이러라

[25] 예루살렘에 시므온이라 하는 사람이 있으니 이 사람은 의롭고 경건하여 이스라엘의 위로를 기다리는 자라 성령이 그 위에 계시더라
[26] 그가 주의 그리스도를 보기 전에는 죽지 아니하리라 하는 성령의 지시를 받았더니
[27] 성령의 감동으로 성전에 들어가매 마침 부모가 율법의 관례대로 행하고자 하여 그 아기 예수를 데리고 오는지라
[28] 시므온이 아기를 안고 하나님을 찬송하여 이르되
[29] 주재여 이제는 말씀하신 대로 종을 평안히 놓아 주시는도다
[30] 내 눈이 주의 구원을 보았사오니
[31] 이는 만민 앞에 예비하신 것이요
[32] 이방을 비추는 빛이요 주의 백성 이스라엘의 영광이니이다 하니
[33] 그의 부모가 그에 대한 말들을 놀랍게 여기더라
[34] 시므온이 그들에게 축복하고 그의 어머니 마리아에게 말하여 이르되 보라 이는 이스라엘 중 많은 사람을 패하거나 흥하게 하며 비방을 받는 표적이 되기 위하여 세움을 받았고
[35] 또 칼이 네 마음을 찌르듯 하리니 이는 여러 사람의 마음의 생각을 드러내려 함이니라 하더라
