Watching and Waiting		주시하며 기다리신다
[ Isaiah 18:1 - 18:5 ] - hymn 337 The LORD said to me, ¡°I will take My rest, and I will look from My dwelling place.¡± -Isaiah 18:4 In Isaiah 18, it appears that the whole world is set to battle God¡¯s people. Yet what is the response of the Almighty One? ¡°I will take My rest, and I will look from My dwelling place¡± (v.4). His stillness may appear to have been an acceptance of the conspiracy against them. But it wasn¡¯t. God¡¯s response was His reminder that He acts in His timing-at just the right time according to His will. I think of Jesus waiting 4 days while Lazarus lay in the grave (John 11:39). Was He unaware? Did He not care? Of course He cared! He was waiting for the right time to act and to teach the lessons He wanted to teach. The Bible records God¡¯s ¡°delays,¡± many of which seem at the time to be inexplicable from our point of view. Yet every delay flows from the depths of His wisdom and love. If nothing else, delay, if we accept it, can produce the quieter virtues-humility, patience, endurance, and persistence-qualities that are often the last to be learned. Are you in distress? Does the Lord seem distant and detached? He is not indifferent to your plight, nor is He unmoved by your pleas. He is waiting while His purposes are achieved. Then, at the right moment, He will intercede. God is never in a hurry, but He is always on time. - David Roper		[ 이사야 18:1 - 18:5 ] - 찬송가 337 장 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 내가 나의 처소에서 조용히 감찰함이 - 이사야 18:4 이사야 18장의 내용을 보면, 온 세상이 하나님의 백성들과 전쟁할 준비가 되어 있는 것처럼 보입니다. 그러나 이에 대한 전능하신 하나님의 반응은 어떻습니까? “내가 나의 처소에서 조용히 감찰하리라”(4절). 하나님의 잠잠하심은 하나님 백성들을 향한 세상의 계략을 허용하는 것처럼 보일 수 있습니다. 하지만 그렇지 않았습니다. 하나님의 반응은 그분의 시간표대로 가장 적절한 시간에 하나님의 뜻을 행하신다는 것을 우리에게 일깨워주었습니다. 나는 예수님께서 나사로가 나흘 동안 무덤 속에 있도록 기다리셨음을 생각해봅니다(요 11:39). 예수님이 모르고 계셨을까요? 상관하지 않으셨던 걸까요? 물론 아니지요! 예수님은 가르치고 싶으신 교훈을 행하고 가르치시기에 가장 적절한 시간을 기다리고 계셨던 것입니다. 성경은 하나님의 “더디심”을 기록하고 있습니다. 대부분의 경우 그 당시 우리의 관점으로는 납득하기가 쉽지 않습니다. 그러나 하나님의 모든 더디심은 그분의 깊은 지혜와 사랑에서 흘러나오는 것입니다. 우리가 그의 더디심을 받아들인다면, 그것은 겸손과 인내, 끈기, 지구력과 같은 잔잔한 덕을 우리에게 쌓아 줄 것입니다. 이런 덕목들은 다른 무엇으로도 쌓을 수 없으며, 대개 사람들이 가장 배우기 힘든 덕목들입니다. 고통 중에 있습니까? 하나님이 멀리 떨어져 무관심하신 것처럼 보입니까? 하나님은 당신의 어려운 상황에 무심하지도 않으시고 당신의 간구에 냉담한 분도 아니십니다. 하나님은 하나님의 의도하신 바가 무르익을 때까지 기다리고 계시다가 가장 적절한 시간에 개입하십니다. 하나님은 절대 서두르지 않으시지만, 언제나 정확한 시간에 역사하십니다.

Turn not aside, discouraged one;
Stir up your gift, pursue your goal;
In God¡¯s own time you¡¯ll see Him work;
He¡¯ll give you hope and lift your soul. - D. De Haan

God is worth waiting for; His time is always best.

Isaiah 18:1-5

[1] Woe to the land of whirring wings along the rivers of Cush,
[2] which sends envoys by sea in papyrus boats over the water. Go, swift messengers, to a people tall and smooth-skinned, to a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers.
[3] All you people of the world, you who live on the earth, when a banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it, and when a trumpet sounds, you will hear it.
[4] This is what the LORD says to me: "I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place, like shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."
[5] For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning knives, and cut down and take away the spreading branches.

좌절하는 자여, 물러서지 말라
은사를 되살려 목표를 향해 나아가라
하나님의 때에 하나님이 행하심을 보게 되리니
하나님이 희망을 주시고 네 영혼을 들어 올리시리라

하나님의 때를 기다려라.
언제나 최적의 시기에 베푸신다.

이사야 18:1-5

[1] 슬프다 구스의 강 건너편 날개 치는 소리 나는 땅이여
[2] 갈대 배를 물에 띄우고 그 사자를 수로로 보내며 이르기를 민첩한 사절들아 너희는 강들이 흘러 나누인 나라로 가되 장대하고 준수한 백성 곧 시초부터 두려움이 되며 강성하여 대적을 밟는 백성에게로 가라 하는도다
[3] 세상의 모든 거민, 지상에 사는 너희여 산들 위에 기치를 세우거든 너희는 보고 나팔을 불거든 너희는 들을지니라
[4] 여호와께서 내게 이르시되 내가 나의 처소에서 조용히 감찰함이 쬐이는 일광 같고 가을 더위에 운무 같도다
[5] 추수하기 전에 꽃이 떨어지고 포도가 맺혀 익어갈 때에 내가 낫으로 그 연한 가지를 베며 퍼진 가지를 찍어 버려서
