Panic Or Pray?		공포에 떨 것인가? 기도할 것인가?
[ 2 Chronicles 14:1 - 14:11 ] - hymn 369 Our Daily Bread Radio is hosted by Les Lamborn Read: Help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. — 2 Chronicles 14:11 An 85-year-old woman, all alone in a convent, got trapped inside an elevator for 4 nights and 3 days. Fortunately, she had a jar of water, some celery sticks, and a few cough drops. After she tried unsuccessfully to open the elevator doors and get a cell phone signal, she decided to turn to God in prayer. ¡°It was either panic or pray,¡± she later told CNN. In her distress, she relied on God and waited till she was rescued. Asa was also faced with the options of panic or pray (2 Chron. 14). He was attacked by an Ethiopian army of a million men. But as he faced this huge fighting force, instead of relying on military strategy or cowering in dread, he turned to the Lord in urgent prayer. In a powerful and humble prayer, Asa confessed his total dependence on Him, asked for help, and appealed to the Lord to protect His own name: ¡°Help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude¡± (v.11). The Lord responded to Asa¡¯s prayer, and he won the victory over the Ethiopian army. When we are faced with tight spots, meager resources, a vast army of problems, or seemingly dead-end solutions, let¡¯s not panic but instead turn to God who fights for His people and gives them victory.		[ 역대하 14:1 - 14:11 ] - 찬송가 369 장 우리 하나님 여호와여 우리를 도우소서 우리가 주를 의지하오며 주의 이름을 의탁하옵고 이 많은 무리를 치러 왔나이다 - 역대하 14:11 수녀원에서 혼자 지내는 85세 된 여인이 사흘 낮, 나흘 밤을 엘리베이터 안에 갇혀 있었습니다. 그녀는 다행히 물 한 병과 셀러리 몇 조각, 그리고 기침약 몇 알을 가지고 있었습니다. 엘리베이터 문을 열어 보려고도 하고 휴대전화 신호를 잡아보려고도 했지만 실패하자, 하나님께 의지하며 기도하기로 결심하였습니다. 그녀는 그 후 CNN뉴스에서 “공포에 떨던지, 아니면 기도해야 할 상황이었습니다.”라고 말했습니다. 그녀는 그런 절박함 속에서 구조 될 때까지 하나님을 의지하며 기다렸습니다. 아사 왕도 공포에 떨 것인가 아니면 기도할 것인가의 기로에 놓였습니다(대하 14장). 백만 명의 에티오피아 군대가 그를 공격했습니다. 하지만 그는 이 막강한 전투력에 맞닥뜨려 군사작전에 의존하거나 겁에 질려 움츠러들지 않고 대신 하나님께 절박한 기도를 드렸습니다. 아사는 겸손하면서도 강력한 기도를 통해 주님께 전적으로 의지함을 고백하고, 하나님의 도움을 구하며, 하나님의 이름을 지켜주실 것을 호소하였습니다. “우리 하나님 여호와여 우리를 도우소서 우리가 주를 의지하오며 주의 이름을 의탁하옵고 이 많은 무리를 치러 왔나이다”(11절). 하나님이 아사의 기도에 응답하셔서 그는 에티오피아 군대를 물리쳤습니다. 궁지에 몰리고, 자원도 부족하고, 수많은 문제들에 봉착하고, 해결책이 도무지 없는 것 같이 보일 때, 공포에 떨지 말고 자기 백성을 위해 싸우고 승리를 안겨주시는 하나님을 의지합시다.

In my distress, anxiety, and fear, Lord, teachme to rely on You and draw close to You. Then Iknow I¡¯ll be able to stand strong in Your powerand won¡¯t be dependent on my own strength.

Prayer is the bridge between panic and peace.

2 Chronicles 14:1-11

[1] And Abijah rested with his fathers and was buried in the City of David. Asa his son succeeded him as king, and in his days the country was at peace for ten years.
[2] Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God.
[3] He removed the foreign altars and the high places, smashed the sacred stones and cut down the Asherah poles.
[4] He commanded Judah to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, and to obey his laws and commands.
[5] He removed the high places and incense altars in every town in Judah, and the kingdom was at peace under him.
[6] He built up the fortified cities of Judah, since the land was at peace. No one was at war with him during those years, for the LORD gave him rest.
[7] "Let us build up these towns," he said to Judah, "and put walls around them, with towers, gates and bars. The land is still ours, because we have sought the LORD our God; we sought him and he has given us rest on every side." So they built and prospered.
[8] Asa had an army of three hundred thousand men from Judah, equipped with large shields and with spears, and two hundred and eighty thousand from Benjamin, armed with small shields and with bows. All these were brave fighting men.
[9] Zerah the Cushite marched out against them with a vast army and three hundred chariots, and came as far as Mareshah.
[10] Asa went out to meet him, and they took up battle positions in the Valley of Zephathah near Mareshah.
[11] Then Asa called to the LORD his God and said, "LORD, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, O LORD our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. O LORD, you are our God; do not let man prevail against you."

하나님, 제가 고난이나 염려, 두려움 속에 있을 때,
주님을 의지하도록 가르치시고 주님 곁으로 이끌어주소서.
그리하시면 제가 주님의 힘으로 강건해지고
제 자신의 힘에 의존하지 않게 될 것입니다.

기도는 공포에서 평안으로 이어주는 다리이다.

역대하 14:1-11

[1] 아비야가 그의 조상들과 함께 누우매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그의 아들 아사가 대신하여 왕이 되니 그의 시대에 그의 땅이 십 년 동안 평안하니라
[2] 아사가 그의 하나님 여호와 보시기에 선과 정의를 행하여
[3] 이방 제단과 산당을 없애고 주상을 깨뜨리며 아세라 상을 찍고
[4] 유다 사람에게 명하여 그 조상들의 하나님 여호와를 찾게 하며 그의 율법과 명령을 행하게 하고
[5] 또 유다 모든 성읍에서 산당과 태양상을 없애매 나라가 그 앞에서 평안함을 누리니라
[6] 여호와께서 아사에게 평안을 주셨으므로 그 땅이 평안하여 여러 해 싸움이 없은지라 그가 견고한 성읍들을 유다에 건축하니라
[7] 아사가 일찍이 유다 사람에게 이르되 우리가 우리 하나님 여호와를 찾았으므로 이 땅이 아직 우리 앞에 있나니 우리가 이 성읍들을 건축하고 그 주위에 성곽과 망대와 문과 빗장을 만들자 우리가 주를 찾았으므로 주께서 우리 사방에 평안을 주셨느니라 하고 이에 그들이 성읍을 형통하게 건축하였더라
[8] 아사의 군대는 유다 중에서 큰 방패와 창을 잡는 자가 삼십만 명이요 베냐민 중에서 작은 방패를 잡으며 활을 당기는 자가 이십팔만 명이라 그들은 다 큰 용사였더라
[9] 구스 사람 세라가 그들을 치려 하여 군사 백만 명과 병거 삼백 대를 거느리고 마레사에 이르매
[10] 아사가 마주 나가서 마레사의 스바다 골짜기에 전열을 갖추고
[11] 아사가 그의 하나님 여호와께 부르짖어 이르되 여호와여 힘이 강한 자와 약한 자 사이에는 주밖에 도와 줄 이가 없사오니 우리 하나님 여호와여 우리를 도우소서 우리가 주를 의지하오며 주의 이름을 의탁하옵고 이 많은 무리를 치러 왔나이다 여호와여 주는 우리 하나님이시오니 원하건대 사람이 주를 이기지 못하게 하옵소서 하였더니
