[ Deuteronomy 30:15 - 30:20 ] - hymn 218 Love the Lord your God, ... obey His voice, ... that you may dwell in the land. — Deuteronomy 30:20 When I was young, I thought the cost of living in my parents¡¯ home was too high. Looking back, I laugh at how ridiculous it was to complain. My parents never charged me a cent for living at home. The only ¡°cost¡± was obedience. I simply had to obey rules like clean up after myself, be polite, tell the truth, and go to church. The rules weren¡¯t difficult, but I still had trouble obeying them. My parents didn¡¯t kick me out for my disobedience, however. They just kept reminding me that the rules were to protect me, not harm me, and sometimes they made the rules stricter to protect me from myself. The cost of living in the Promised Land was the same: obedience. In his final address to the nation, Moses reminded the people that the blessings God wanted to give them depended on their obedience (Deut.30:16). Earlier he had told them that a good life would be determined by obedience: ¡°Observe and obey ... that it may go well with you¡± (12:28). Some people think the Bible has too many rules. I wish they could see that God¡¯s commands are for our good; they allow us to live in peace with one another. Obedience is simply the ¡°cost¡± of being part of God¡¯s family on this glorious globe He created and allows us to call home.		[ 신명기 30:15 - 30:20 ] - 찬송가 218 장 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하고 그의 말씀을 청종하며...땅에 네가 거주하리라 - 신명기 30:20 어렸을 적에 부모님과 함께 살면서 나는 너무 많은 대가를 치르고 있다고 생각했습니다. 뒤돌아보면 불평을 늘어놓았던 자신이 우습기만 합니다. 부모님은 내가 그 집에 사는 동안 한 푼도 요구하지 않았습니다. 유일하게 요구하신 “대가”는 순종이었습니다. 나는 내 방을 치우고, 공손하고, 솔직하게 말하고, 교회에 가는 것 등의 간단한 규칙만 지키면 되었습니다. 그 규칙들이 어려운 것은 아니었지만, 그래도 그것을 지키는 것은 어려운 일이었습니다. 하지만 부모님은 불순종을 이유로 나를 내쫓지 않았습니다. 부모님은 그 규칙들이 나를 해치는 것이 아니라 보호해주는 것이라고 계속 상기시켜주었고, 어떤 때는 나 자신으로부터 나를 보호하시려고 규칙을 더 엄하게 만들었습니다. 하나님 주신 약속의 땅에서 사는 대가도 이와 같았습니다. 그것은 순종이었습니다. 이스라엘 백성들에게 고별 설교를 하면서 모세는 하나님이 주시고자 하는 복은 그들의 순종에 달려 있다고 상기시켜 주었습니다(신 30:16). 그 전에도 모세는 복된 삶은 순종에 의해 결정된다고 말한 바 있습니다. “듣고 지키라...너와 네 후손에게 영구히 복이 있으리라”(12:28). 어떤 사람들은 성경에 너무 많은 규칙이 있다고 생각합니다. 하지만 하나님의 계명은 우리 자신을 위한 것이고, 그 계명은 우리가 다른 사람들과 화평하게 지내게 해준다는 것을 그들이 알 수 있었으면 좋겠습니다. 순종은 하나님이 창조하시고 우리가 집이라고 부르도록 허락하신 이 영광스러운 지구에서 하나님의 가족이 되기 위한 “대가”일 뿐입니다.

Heavenly Father, may we not see obedience as aburden but as a privilege. Help us to be gratefulfor Jesus, who shows us how to live, and forthe Holy Spirit, who empowers us to obey.

The Bible is not a burden but a guide to joy-filled living.

Deuteronomy 30:15-20

[15] "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil,
[16] "in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.
[17] "But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them,
[18] "I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.
[19] "I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;
[20] "that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."

하나님 아버지, 우리가 순종을
짐이 아닌 특권으로 생각하게 해주소서.
우리에게 삶의 모범을 보여주시는 예수님과,
순종할 수 있도록 힘주시는 성령님께 감사하게 하소서.

성경은 짐이 아니라 기쁨이 가득한 삶으로 인도하는 안내서이다.

신명기 30:15-20

[15] 보라 내가 오늘 생명과 복과 사망과 화를 네 앞에 두었나니
[16] 곧 내가 오늘 네게 명령하여 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하고 그 모든 길로 행하며 그의 명령과 규례와 법도를 지키라 하는 것이라 그리하면 네가 생존하며 번성할 것이요 또 네 하나님 여호와께서 네가 가서 차지할 땅에서 네게 복을 주실 것임이니라
[17] 그러나 네가 만일 마음을 돌이켜 듣지 아니하고 유혹을 받아 다른 신들에게 절하고 그를 섬기면
[18] 내가 오늘 너희에게 선언하노니 너희가 반드시 망할 것이라 너희가 요단을 건너가서 차지할 땅에서 너희의 날이 길지 못할 것이니라
[19] 내가 오늘 하늘과 땅을 불러 너희에게 증거를 삼노라 내가 생명과 사망과 복과 저주를 네 앞에 두었은즉 너와 네 자손이 살기 위하여 생명을 택하고
[20] 네 하나님 여호와를 사랑하고 그의 말씀을 청종하며 또 그를 의지하라 그는 네 생명이시요 네 장수이시니 여호와께서 네 조상 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주리라고 맹세하신 땅에 네가 거주하리라
