A SENSE OF DREAD		두려운 감정
[ 2 Timothy 2:19 - 2:26 ] - hymn 353 Avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. - 2 Timothy 2:23 In Tennyson¡¯s classic poem ¡°The Charge of the Light Brigade,¡± valiant cavalry troops riding into battle are described by the imposing phrase, ¡°Into the valley of death rode the six hundred.¡± Those words portray a sense of foreboding that anticipated the tragedy that lay before them. When I was a pastor, I sometimes felt a sense of dread when heading to church meetings. Being aware of current or potential areas of conflict can easily cause serious concern. But this does not need to be the case in the church. To a young pastor struggling with the pressures of ministry, Paul wrote, ¡°Avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife¡±(2 Tim. 2:23). This applies to pastors as well as church attenders. Our personal conduct can help to reduce the amount of friction instead of elevating it through unwise actions or words. We can model for others the biblical way to avoid, manage, and even resolve conflict. Verses 24-25 encourage us to be gentle, patient, and humble in relating to others. As James says, ¡°The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace¡±(James 3:18). Pursuing the goal of being a peacemaker can reduce the sense of dread that conflicts generate. - Bill Crowder		[ 디모데후서 2:19 - 2:26 ] - 찬송가 353 장 어리석고 무식한 변론을 버리라 이에서 다툼이 나는 줄 앎이라 - 디모데후서 2:23 테니슨의 걸작 시 “경기병 여단의 돌격”에는 용감한 기사단이 말을 타고 전투에 임하는 장면을 “죽음의 계곡으로 600명이 나아갔다네”라는 인상적인 시구로 묘사하고 있습니다. 그 시구는 그들 앞에 놓여있는 비극을 예감케 해줍니다. 목회를 하던 시절, 나는 교회에 회의를 하러 갈 때 이따금 큰 두려움을 느끼곤 했습니다. 현재 갈등이 있거나 앞으로 갈등의 여지가 있음을 알게 되면 심각한 문제로 번지기가 쉽습니다. 그러나 교회 내에서는 이렇게 될 필요가 없습니다. 바울은 목회의 압박감에 힘들어하고 있는 젊은 목회자에게 “어리석고 무식한 변론을 버리라 이에서 다툼이 나는 줄 앎이라”(딤후 2:23)고 썼습니다. 이 말씀은 목회자들뿐만 아니라 교회에 출석하는 자들에게도 해당됩니다. 우리 각자는 지혜롭지 못한 언행으로 마찰을 증진시키는 대신 마찰을 줄이는 데 도움을 줄 수 있게 행동할 수 있습니다. 우리는 다른 사람들에게 갈등을 피하고, 갈등을 처리하며, 더 나아가 갈등을 해결할 수 있는 성경적인 방법으로 본을 보일 수 있습니다. 24-25절은 우리에게 다른 사람들과의 관계에서 온유하고 인내하고 겸손하라고 권면하고 있습니다. 야고보는 “화평하게 하는 자들은 화평으로 심어 의의 열매를 거두느니라”(약 3:18)라고 했습니다. 화평하게 하는 자가 되려는 목표를 향해 나아갈 때 갈등 때문에 일어나는 두려운 감정은 줄어들 것입니다.

2 Timothy 2:19-26

[19] Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
[20] But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.
[21] Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
[22] Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
[23] But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife.
[24] And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient,
[25] in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth,
[26] and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

오 주여, 이기적인 자만심에서 튀어나오는
말을 하지 않도록 도와주소서
하나님은 그 자녀들로 하나 되어
그 사랑하는 아들을 찬양하고 사랑하게 하셨기 때문입니다

서로 싸우는 그리스도인들은 하나님 아버지와 화평할 수 없다.

디모데후서 2:19-26

[19] 그러나 하나님의 견고한 터는 섰으니 인침이 있어 일렀으되 주께서 자기 백성을 아신다 하며 또 주의 이름을 부르는 자마다 불의에서 떠날지어다 하였느니라
[20] 큰 집에는 금 그릇과 은 그릇뿐 아니라 나무 그릇과 질그릇도 있어 귀하게 쓰는 것도 있고 천하게 쓰는 것도 있나니
[21] 그러므로 누구든지 이런 것에서 자기를 깨끗하게 하면 귀히 쓰는 그릇이 되어 거룩하고 주인의 쓰심에 합당하며 모든 선한 일에 준비함이 되리라
[22] 또한 너는 청년의 정욕을 피하고 주를 깨끗한 마음으로 부르는 자들과 함께 의와 믿음과 사랑과 화평을 따르라
[23] 어리석고 무식한 변론을 버리라 이에서 다툼이 나는 줄 앎이라
[24] 주의 종은 마땅히 다투지 아니하고 모든 사람에 대하여 온유하며 가르치기를 잘하며 참으며
[25] 거역하는 자를 온유함으로 훈계할지니 혹 하나님이 그들에게 회개함을 주사 진리를 알게 하실까 하며
[26] 그들로 깨어 마귀의 올무에서 벗어나 하나님께 사로잡힌 바 되어 그 뜻을 따르게 하실까 함이라
