[ 2 Corinthians 12:14 - 12:21 ] - hymn 321 I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls. -2 Corinthians 12:15 Before my husband and I travel, we go to the bank and trade in our US dollars for the currency of the country we¡¯ll be visiting. We do this so we can pay for expenses while we¡¯re away from home. When we become Christians, another kind of exchange takes place. Our lives are like currency that we convert from one medium to another. We trade our old life for a new one so that we can begin ¡°spending¡± ourselves in a different kingdom. Instead of spending ourselves for the causes of this world, we are able to start spending ourselves for the cause of Christ. The apostle Paul is a good example of this difference. After his dramatic conversion on the way to Damascus(Acts 9), he began spending his life in a dramatically different way. Instead of pursuing Christians to imprison and kill them, he began pursuing non-Christians to convert them. Then he spent the rest of his life for their welfare. He wrote to the church at Corinth, ¡°I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls¡±(2 Cor. 12:15). Everything he did was for the edification of his spiritual children(vv.14,19). Conversion is far more than just changing our final destination. Conversion takes only a momenttransformation
takes a lifetime.

2 Corinthians 12:14-21

[14] Now for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be burdensome to you; for I do not seek yours, but you. For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children.
[15] And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.
[16] But be that as it may, I did not burden you. Nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you by cunning!
[17] Did I take advantage of you by any of those whom I sent to you?
[18] I urged Titus, and sent our brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not walk in the same steps?
[19] Again, do you think that we excuse ourselves to you? We speak before God in Christ. But we do all things, beloved, for your edification.
[20] For I fear lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I wish, and that I shall be found by you such as you do not wish; lest there be contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, backbitings, whisperings, conceits, tumults;
[21] lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.

주님, 하루 만에 사라져버릴 것에 쓰지 않고
영원한 것에 제 자신을 쓰게 도와주소서
제 자신을 주님께 드리오니 제가
다른 이들과 주님의 뜻을 위해 쓰고 또 쓰임 받게 하소서

회심은 한 순간에 일어나고 변화는 일생동안 지속된다.

고린도후서 12:14-21

[14] 보라 내가 이제 세 번째 너희에게 가기를 준비하였으나 너희에게 폐를 끼치지 아니하리라 내가 구하는 것은 너희 재물이 아니요 오직 너희니라 어린 아이가 부모를 위하여 재물을 저축하는 것이 아니요 이에 부모가 어린 아이를 위하여 하느니라
[15] 내가 너희 영혼을 위하여 크게 기뻐하므로 재물을 사용하고 또 내 자신까지도 내어 주리니 너희를 더욱 사랑할수록 나는 사랑을 덜 받겠느냐
[16] 하여간 어떤 이의 말이 내가 너희에게 짐을 지우지는 아니하였을지라도 교활한 자가 되어 너희를 속임수로 취하였다 하니
[17] 내가 너희에게 보낸 자 중에 누구로 너희의 이득을 취하더냐
[18] 내가 디도를 권하고 함께 한 형제를 보내었으니 디도가 너희의 이득을 취하더냐 우리가 동일한 성령으로 행하지 아니하더냐 동일한 보조로 하지 아니하더냐
[19] 너희는 이 때까지 우리가 자기 변명을 하는 줄로 생각하는구나 우리는 그리스도 안에서 하나님 앞에 말하노라 사랑하는 자들아 이 모든 것은 너희의 덕을 세우기 위함이니라
[20] 내가 갈 때에 너희를 내가 원하는 것과 같이 보지 못하고 또 내가 너희에게 너희가 원하지 않는 것과 같이 보일까 두려워하며 또 다툼과 시기와 분냄과 당 짓는 것과 비방과 수군거림과 거만함과 혼란이 있을까 두려워하고
[21] 또 내가 다시 갈 때에 내 하나님이 나를 너희 앞에서 낮추실까 두려워하고 또 내가 전에 죄를 지은 여러 사람의 그 행한 바 더러움과 음란함과 호색함을 회개하지 아니함 때문에 슬퍼할까 두려워하노라
