[ Proverbs 31:10 - 31:31 ] - hymn 184 She watches over the ways of her household, and does not eat the bread of idleness. -Proverbs 31:27 During the early years of the Protestant Reformation in Europe, Katharina Von Bora, a former nun, married Martin Luther(1525). By all accounts, the two had a joyous married life. Luther said, ¡°There is no bond on earth so sweet, nor any separation so bitter, as that which occurs in a good marriage.¡± Because Katharina rose at 4 a.m. to care for her responsibilities, Luther referred to her as the ¡°morning star of Wittenberg.¡± She was industrious in tending the vegetable garden and orchard. Also, she administered the family business and managed the Luthers¡¯ home and property. In time, the couple had six children for whom Katharina felt the home was a school of character development. Her energetic industry and care for the family made her a woman of influence. Katharina seems to have been a woman like the one described in Proverbs 31. She was indeed a virtuous wife who awoke ¡°while it [was] yet night¡± and provided ¡°food for her household¡±(v.15). She also watched ¡°over the ways of her household, and [did] not eat the bread of idleness¡±(v.27). From role models like Katharina, we can learn about the love, diligence, and fear of the Lord that¡¯s needed to be a woman of influence. - Dennis Fisher		[ 잠언 31:10 - 31:31 ] - 찬송가 184 장 자기의 집안 일을 보살피고 게을리 얻은 양식을 먹지 아니하나니 - 잠언 31:27 유럽에서 종교개혁이 일어나던 초기에 전직 수녀였던 카타리나 본보라는 마틴 루터와 결혼했습니다(1525년). 이 두 사람은 행복한 결혼생활을 한 것으로 전해집니다. 루터는 말했습니다. “이 세상에서 행복한 결혼생활 만큼 달콤한 것도 없고, 헤어졌을 때만큼 쓰라린 고통도 없다.” 카타리나가 집안일을 하기 위해 새벽 4시에 일어나곤 했기에, 루터는 그녀를 “비텐버그의 새벽 별”이라고 불렀습니다. 그녀는 부지런히 채소밭과 과수원을 가꾸었습니다. 가계를 꾸려가면서 남편의 집과 재산을 관리했습니다. 그들 부부가 여섯 자녀를 갖게 되었을 때, 카타리나는 가정이야말로 자녀들의 인격을 개발하는 하나의 학교라고 믿었습니다. 넘치는 의욕과 부지런함으로 가정을 돌보게 되면서 그녀는 영향력이 있는 어머니가 되었습니다. 카타리나는 잠언 31장에서 그려놓은 사람과 같은 여자였던 것 같습니다. 그녀는 참으로 “밤이 새기 전에” 일어나서 “자기 집안 사람들에게 음식을” 준비하는(15절) 덕망 있는 아내였습니다. 그녀는 또한 “집안 일을 보살피고 게을리 얻은 양식을 먹지”(27절) 않았습니다. 우리는 카타리나 같은 모범적인 여인을 통해서 영향력이 있는 여성이 되기에 필요한 사랑과 근면과 하나님에 대한 경외 등을 배울 수 있습니다.

Lord, thank You for the influence our mothers and wives
have had on us. We too want to touch the lives of
others, to point them to You. We know we need Your
Spirit¡¯s power to do that. Fill us and use us, we pray.

Good mothers not only tell us how to live-
they show us.

Proverbs 31:10-31

[10] Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.
[11] The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.
[12] She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.
[13] She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands.
[14] She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar.
[15] She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants.
[16] She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard.
[17] She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.
[18] She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night.
[19] She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle.
[20] She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
[21] She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
[22] She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
[23] Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land.
[24] She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants.
[25] Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.
[26] She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
[27] She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.
[28] Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her£º
[29] "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all."
[30] Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
[31] Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates.

주여, 우리 어머니들과 아내들이 저희에게 끼친 영향에 대해
감사드립니다. 우리도 다른 사람들의 삶에 감동을 주어
그들의 삶이 주님을 향하도록 하기 원합니다.
이를 위해 성령님의 역사가 필요함을 우리가 알기에,
성령 충만케 하셔서 저희를 써 주시기를 기도드립니

훌륭한 어머니들은 말뿐만 아니라
모범을 보임으로 우리를 가르친다.

잠언 31:10-31

[10] 누가 현숙한 여인을 찾아 얻겠느냐 그 값은 진주보다 더 하니라
[11] 그런 자의 남편의 마음은 그를 믿나니 산업이 핍절치 아니하겠으며
[12] 그런 자는 살아 있는 동안에 그 남편에게 선을 행하고 악을 행치 아니하느니라
[13] 그는 양털과 삼을 구하여 부지런히 손으로 일하며
[14] 상고의 배와 같아서 먼 데서 양식을 가져오며
[15] 밤이 새기 전에 일어나서 그 집 사람에게 식물을 나눠주며 여종에게 일을 정하여 맡기며
[16] 밭을 간품하여 사며 그 손으로 번 것을 가지고 포도원을 심으며
[17] 힘으로 허리를 묶으며 그 팔을 강하게 하며
[18] 자기의 무역하는 것이 이로운 줄을 깨닫고 밤에 등불을 끄지 아니하고
[19] 손으로 솜뭉치를 들고 손가락으로 가락을 잡으며
[20] 그는 간곤한 자에게 손을 펴며 궁핍한 자를 위하여 손을 내밀며
[21] 그 집 사람들은 다 홍색 옷을 입었으므로 눈이 와도 그는 집 사람을 위하여 두려워하지 아니하며
[22] 그는 자기를 위하여 아름다운 방석을 지으며 세마포와 자색 옷을 입으며
[23] 그 남편은 그 땅의 장로로 더불어 성문에 앉으며 사람의 아는 바가 되며
[24] 그는 베로 옷을 지어 팔며 띠를 만들어 상고에게 맡기며
[25] 능력과 존귀로 옷을 삼고 후일을 웃으며
[26] 입을 열어 지혜를 베풀며 그 혀로 인애의 법을 말하며
[27] 그 집안 일을 보살피고 게을리 얻은 양식을 먹지 아니하나니
[28] 그 자식들은 일어나 사례하며 그 남편은 칭찬하기를
[29] 덕행 있는 여자가 많으나 그대는 여러 여자보다 뛰어난다 하느니라
[30] 고운 것도 거짓되고 아름다운 것도 헛되나 오직 여호와를 경외하는 여자는 칭찬을 받을 것이라
[31] 그 손의 열매가 그에게로 돌아갈 것이요 그 행한 일을 인하여 성문에서 칭찬을 받으리라
