[ Matthew 5:13 - 5:16 ] - hymn 522 Let your light so shine before men. - Matthew 5:16 It was just a routine baggage inspec-tion, but there was nothing ordi-nary about the contents of the suitcase. The Swiss customs agent who exam-ined it discovered 14 original draw-ings by Pablo Picasso. The artwork, which was contained in a sketchbook, was estimated to be worth as much as $1.5 million, yet the passenger indi-cated "nothing to declare" to customs authorities. It's hard to imagine anyone packing Picasso's sketchbook between sweat-ers, trotting off to the airport, and hoping it would remain a secret. The man was obviously smuggling it. We as Christians have something far more valuable than a Picasso to declare! Yet we sometimes keep the treasure of our faith in Christ locked in our hearts instead of sharing it with those around us. Jesus reminded us, "You are the light of the world"(Matt.5:14). Part of our purpose is to reflect God's glory so that others will understand their need for Him. He also calls us to let our light shine, so that they see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven (v.16). We risk becoming spiritual smugglers when we hide our faith in Christ. Instead, let's open the "suitcase," share the treasure, and give glory to the Master. - Jennifer Benson Schuldt		[ 마태복음 5:13 - 5:16 ] - 찬송가 522 장 너희 빛이 사람 앞에 비치게 하여- 마태복음 5:16 일상적인 수하물 검색을 하고 있었습니다. 그러나 그 여행 가방에는 결코 평범하지 않은 것이 들어있었습니다. 그 가방을 검색하던 스위스 세관원은 피카소의 그림 원본 14장을 발견하였습니다. 한 권의 스케치북에 들어있던 그 그림들은 백오십만 달러의 가치가 있는 것으로 추정되었지만, 그 승객은 “신고할 것이 없습니다.”라고 세관에 대답했었습니다. 어느 누구든 피카소의 스케치북을 옷가지 속에 끼워 넣고 총총 걸음으로 공항을 빠져 나가면서 걸리지 않기를 기대한다는 것은 생각하기도 어려운 일입니다. 그 사람은 분명히 밀수를 하고 있었던 것입니다. 우리 그리스도인들에게는 피카소 그림보다 훨씬 더 값진 신고해야 할 것이 있습니다! 그러나 우리는 그리스도 안에 있는 믿음의 보물을 주변 사람들과 나누는 대신 마음속에 담아 꼭 숨겨두고 있습니다. 예수님은 우리에게 “너희는 세상의 빛이라”(마 5:14)라고 상기시켜 주셨습니다. 우리의 목적의 일부는 하나님의 영광을 드러냄으로써 세상 사람들이 하나님이 필요하다는 것을 깨닫게 해주는 것입니다. 예수님은 또한 우리가 빛을 발하여 세상 사람들이 우리의 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라고 우리에게 요구하십니다(16절). 그리스도를 믿는 우리의 믿음을 숨긴다면 우리는 영적인 밀수꾼이 될 위험을 안는 것입니다. 그러지 말고, “가방”을 열고 그 보물을 나누어서 우리 주님께 영광을 돌립시다.

Matthew 5:13-16

[13] "You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
[14] "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
[15] "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
[16] "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

오 주님, 내가 성실히 일하고
분명히 증언할 수 있도록 도와주소서
내가 하는 말을 듣고 친구와 이웃들이
그리스도께로 돌아오게 해주소서

잘 선택된 한 마디 말이 하나님께 마음을 열게 할 수 있다.

[13] 너희는 세상의 소금이니 소금이 만일 그 맛을 잃으면 무엇으로 짜게 하리요 후에는 아무 쓸데 없어 다만 밖에 버리워 사람에게 밟힐 뿐이니라
[14] 너희는 세상의 빛이라 산 위에 있는 동네가 숨기우지 못할 것이요
[15] 사람이 등불을 켜서 말 아래 두지 아니하고 등경 위에 두나니 이러므로 집안 모든 사람에게 비취느니라
[16] 이같이 너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라
