Shine On!		빛을 발하라!
[ Matthew 5:14 - 5:16 ] - hymn 358 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. — Matthew 5:16 I was frustrated that despite my repeated calls, the streetlight in front of my house was still out. Because we don¡¯t have sidewalks and there is such a large distance between the streetlights, it¡¯s important that each light is functional to illuminate the darkness. I worried that I might hit one of the school kids as I pulled out of my driveway in the early morning hours. The idea of light is used frequently in the Bible. Jesus said that He is the Light of the world (John 9:5). We are told to ¡°put on the armor of light¡± by clothing ourselves with the Lord (Rom. 13:12-14). And Matthew 5:16 instructs that we should ¡°let [our] light so shine before men, that they may see [our] good works and glorify [our] Father in heaven.¡± A light that doesn¡¯t shine has lost its usefulness. Jesus said that no one hides a light under a basket but puts it on a lampstand to illuminate everything around it (Matt. 5:15). Our light (our actions) should point people to the One who is the Light. We don¡¯t have any light in ourselves, but we shine with the reflection of Christ (Eph. 5:8). God has placed each of us in a specific environment that will best allow us to shine with His light. Don¡¯t be like a burned-out streetlight. Shine on!		[ 마태복음 5:14 - 5:16 ] - 찬송가 358 장 이같이 너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라－마태복음 5:16 여러 번 전화독촉을 했음에도 불구하고 여전히 우리 집 앞의 가로등에 불이 들어오지 않아 속상했습니다. 우리 집 앞길에는 보도가 없는데다가 가로등과 가로등 사이의 거리가 멀기 때문에 모든 가로등에 불이 들어와서 어둠을 밝혀주는 것이 중요합니다. 어두운 이른 아침, 차를 몰고 차도로 나갈 때마다 혹시 내가 학교에 가는 아이들을 차로 치지 않을까 걱정이 되곤 합니다. 성경에서는 ‘빛’이라는 관념이 자주 사용됩니다. 예수님은 자신이 세상의 빛이라고 말씀하셨습니다(요 9:5). 우리는 주 예수 그리스도로 옷 입음으로써 “빛의 갑옷을 입자”라는 말을 듣습니다(롬 13:12-14). 그리고 마태복음 5장 16절에서는 우리에게 “너희 빛을 사람 앞에 비취게 하여 저희로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라”라고 가르치고 있습니다. 어둠을 비추지 않는 빛은 그 가치를 잃은 것입니다. 예수님은 사람이 등불을 켜서 그릇 아래 두지 아니하고 등잔걸이 위에 두므로 집안 모두에게 빛이 비춰진다고 말씀하셨습니다(마 5:15). 우리의 빛(우리의 행동)은 사람들로 하여금 빛 되시는 예수님을 바라볼 수 있도록 해야 합니다. 우리 안에는 어떤 빛도 없지만 우리는 그리스도의 빛을 반사함으로 빛날 수 있습니다(엡 5:8). 하나님은 우리 각자를 하나님의 빛을 가장 잘 비추어 줄 수 있는 특정한 환경으로 보내주셨습니다. 전구가 나간 가로등처럼 되지 맙시다. 빛을 발합시다!

Lord, help us always put You first
In everything we say and do
So that Your light will shine through us

[14] "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
[15] "Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
[16] "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

[9] But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
[10] who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

주님, 우리가 말하고 행하는 모든 일에서
항상 주님을 먼저 생각하도록 도우소서
그리하여 주님의 빛이 우리를 통해 비췸으로
세상이 주님의 필요함을 알게 하소서

당신이 한구석에 놓인 촛불이든지 언덕 위에 세워진 등대이든지
빛을 발하도록 하라.

[14] 너희는 세상의 빛이라 산 위에 있는 동네가 숨겨지지 못할 것이요
[15] 사람이 등불을 켜서 말 아래에 두지 아니하고 등경 위에 두나니 이러므로 집 안 모든 사람에게 비치느니라
[16] 이같이 너희 빛이 사람 앞에 비치게 하여 그들로 너희 착한 행실을 보고 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하라

[9] 그러나 너희는 택하신 족속이요 왕 같은 제사장들이요 거룩한 나라요 그의 소유가 된 백성이니 이는 너희를 어두운 데서 불러 내어 그의 기이한 빛에 들어가게 하신 이의 아름다운 덕을 선포하게 하려 하심이라
[10] 너희가 전에는 백성이 아니더니 이제는 하나님의 백성이요 전에는 긍휼을 얻지 못하였더니 이제는 긍휼을 얻은 자니라
