For The God I Love		사랑하는 하나님을 위하여
[ Matthew 6:16 - 6:18 ] - hymn 12 When you fast, do not be like the hypocrites. — Matthew 6:16 A couple of years ago in our church we did a sermon series on the Old Testament tabernacle. Leading up to the message on the table of showbread, I did something I had never done before—I fasted from food for several days. I fasted because I wanted to experience the truth that ¡°man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord¡± (Deut. 8:3). I wanted to deny myself something I love, food, for the God I love more. As I fasted, I followed Jesus¡¯ teaching about fasting in Matthew 6:16-18. Jesus gave a negative command: ¡°When you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance¡± (v.16). Then He gave a positive command about putting oil on your head and washing your face (v.17). The two commands taken together meant that they should not draw attention to themselves. Jesus was teaching that this was a private act of sacrificial worship that should not provide any room for religious pride. Finally, He gave a promise: Your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you (v.18). Although fasting isn¡¯t required, in giving up something we love, we may have a deeper experience of the God we love. He rewards us with Himself.		[ 마태복음 6:16 - 6:18 ] - 찬송가 12 장 금식할 때에 너희는 외식하는 자들과 같이 슬픈 기색을 내지 말라 －마태복음 6:16 몇 년 전 우리 교회에서는 구약성경의 성막에 대한 설교를 시리즈로 했습니다. 진설병이 놓인 상에 관한 말씀에 이끌려 나는 지금껏 한 번도 하지 않았던 어떤 일을 하게 되었습니다. 며칠 동안 금식을 한 것입니다. 내가 금식을 한 이유는 “사람이 떡으로만 사는 것이 아니요 여호와의 입에서 나오는 모든 말씀으로 살리라”(신 8:3)라는 말씀을 체험해 보고 싶었기 때문입니다. 내가 더 사랑하는 하나님을 위해 내가 너무너무 좋아하는 것, 즉 음식을 절제하고 싶었습니다. 금식을 하면서 마태복음 6:16-18에 기록된 금식에 관한 예수님의 가르침을 따랐습니다. 예수님은 “금식할 때에 너희는 외식하는 자들과 같이 슬픈 기색을 내지 말라”(16절)라고 금지명령을 내리셨습니다. 그리고는 머리에 기름을 바르고 얼굴을 씻으라고 실행명령을 내리셨습니다(17절). 이 두 명령을 모두 따른다는 것은 본인 자신들에게 관심이 집중되지 않도록 한다는 것을 뜻합니다. 예수님은 금식이 헌신예배라는 개인적인 행위이기 때문에 신앙적인 교만이 들어설 그 어떤 공간도 허용해서는 안 된다고 가르치셨습니다. 마지막으로 주님은 은밀한 중에 보시는 우리 아버지께서 우리에게 갚아주실 것이라고 약속해 주셨습니다(18절). 금식이 필수적인 것은 아니지만, 우리가 좋아하는 무엇인가를 포기함으로써 우리가 사랑하는 하나님을 더 깊이 체험할 수 있습니다.하나님은 자신을 우리에게 보상으로 주십니다.

Lord, we desire to walk closely with You every day.
Help us to seek You diligently that we might
know You intimately and follow You
obediently. Amen.

Moving away from the table can bring us closer to the Father.

Matthew 6:16-18

[6] "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
[7] "And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
[8] "Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
[9] "In this manner, therefore, pray£º Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
[10] Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
[11] Give us this day our daily bread.
[12] And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
[13] And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
[14] "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
[15] "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
[16] "Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.
[17] "But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
[18] "so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

주님, 매일 주님과 가까이 동행하길 원합니다
성실하게 주님을 찾도록 우리를 도우셔서
주님을 깊이 알고 순종하며
주님을 따라갈 수 있게 하소서. 아멘

음식을 멀리함으로써 하나님 아버지와 더 가까워질 수 있다.

마태복음 6:16-18

[6] 너는 기도할 때에 네 골방에 들어가 문을 닫고 은밀한 중에 계신 네 아버지께 기도하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 네 아버지께서 갚으시리라
[7] 또 기도할 때에 이방인과 같이 중언부언하지 말라 그들은 말을 많이 하여야 들으실 줄 생각하느니라
[8] 그러므로 그들을 본받지 말라 구하기 전에 너희에게 있어야 할 것을 하나님 너희 아버지께서 아시느니라
[9] 그러므로 너희는 이렇게 기도하라 하늘에 계신 우리 아버지여 이름이 거룩히 여김을 받으시오며
[10] 나라가 임하시오며 뜻이 하늘에서 이루어진 것 같이 땅에서도 이루어지이다
[11] 오늘 우리에게 일용할 양식을 주시옵고
[12] 우리가 우리에게 죄 지은 자를 사하여 준 것 같이 우리 죄를 사하여 주시옵고
[13] 우리를 시험에 들게 하지 마시옵고 다만 악에서 구하시옵소서 (나라와 권세와 영광이 아버지께 영원히 있사옵나이다 아멘)
[14] 너희가 사람의 잘못을 용서하면 너희 하늘 아버지께서도 너희 잘못을 용서하시려니와
[15] 너희가 사람의 잘못을 용서하지 아니하면 너희 아버지께서도 너희 잘못을 용서하지 아니하시리라
[16] 금식할 때에 너희는 외식하는 자들과 같이 슬픈 기색을 보이지 말라 그들은 금식하는 것을 사람에게 보이려고 얼굴을 흉하게 하느니라 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 그들은 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라
[17] 너는 금식할 때에 머리에 기름을 바르고 얼굴을 씻으라
[18] 이는 금식하는 자로 사람에게 보이지 않고 오직 은밀한 중에 계신 네 아버지께 보이게 하려 함이라 은밀한 중에 보시는 네 아버지께서 갚으시리라
