[ John 1:14 - 1:18 ] - hymn 418 May the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all. — 1 Thessalonians 3:12 A friend of mine pastors a church in a small mountain community not far from Boise, Idaho. The community is nestled in a wooded valley through which a pleasant little stream meanders. Behind the church and alongside the stream is a grove of willows, a length of grass, and a sandy beach. It¡¯s an idyllic spot that has long been a place where members of the community gather to picnic. One day, a man in the congregation expressed concern over the legal implications of ¡°outsiders¡± using the property. ¡°If someone is injured,¡± he said, ¡°the church might be sued.¡± Though the elders were reluctant to take any action, the man convinced them that they should post a sign on the site informing visitors that this was private property. So the pastor posted a sign. It read: ¡°Warning! Anyone using this beach may, at any moment, be surrounded by people who love you.¡± I read his sign the week after he put it up and was charmed. ¡°Exactly,¡± I thought. ¡°Once again grace has triumphed over law!¡± This love for one¡¯s neighbor springs from God¡¯s kindness, forbearance, and patience with us. It¡¯s not the law, but the goodness of God that draws men and women to repentance (Rom. 2:4) and to saving faith in His Son Jesus Christ.		[ 요한복음 1:14 - 1:18 ] - 찬송가 418 장 주께서…너희도 피차 간과 모든 사람에 대한 사랑이 더욱 많아 넘치게 하사 - 데살로니가전서 3:12 내 친구는 아이다호 주의 보이시 시로부터 그리 멀지 않은 작은 산골마을에서 목회를 하고 있습니다. 이 마을은 굽이쳐 흐르는 아름다운 작은 개울을 따라 숲이 우거진 골짜기에 자리 잡고 있습니다. 교회 뒤편 개울가에는 버드나무 숲과 길게 자란 풀들과 모래사장이 있습니다. 이곳은 오랫동안 마을 주민들이 야유회 때 모이는 이상적인 장소입니다. 어느 날, 한 교인이 교회 소유의 땅을 “외부인”들이 사용하는 경우에 일어날 수 있는 법적 책임에 대해 “누군가 다치기라도 하면 우리 교회가 소송을 당할 수도 있습니다.”라고 말하면서 우려를 표했습니다. 장로들은 조치를 취하는데 주저했지만, 그 남자는 사유지 표지판을 세워 방문객에게 알려야 한다고 장로들을 설득했습니다. 그리하여 목사님은 표지판을 세웠고, 거기에는 다음과 같이 쓰여 있습니다. “경고! 이 모래사장을 사용하는 사람은 어느 순간엔가는 당신을 사랑하는 사람들에게 둘러싸일 수 있습니다.” 나는 목사님이 세워놓은 다음 주에 그 표지판을 읽고 나서 마음이 기뻤습니다. 그리고는 생각했습니다. “바로 이거야, 다시 한 번 주님의 은총이 법을 이기고 승리했군!” 이러한 이웃을 향한 사랑은 우리에게 베푸신 하나님의 인자하심과 관용과 인내에서 비롯됩니다. 사람들을 회개케 하고(롬 2:4), 그의 아들 예수 그리스도 안에 있는 믿음을 구하게 하는 것은 법이 아니라 하나님의 선하심 때문입니다.

Love is the magnet that draws believers together
and attracts unbelievers to Christ.

John 1:14-18

[14] And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
[15] John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, 'He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.'"
[16] And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
[17] For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
[18] No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

어두움에 거하는 길 잃은 영혼들을
주님께서 그랬듯이 나도 사랑하게 하소서
궁핍한 자들을 주님께로 이끌도록
주여, 내게 강렬한 열심을 품게 하소서

사랑은 믿는 사람들을 서로 뭉치게 하고
불신자들을 주님께로 끌어당기는 자석이다.

요한복음 1:14-18

[14] 말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그의 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라
[15] 요한이 그에 대하여 증언하여 외쳐 이르되 내가 전에 말하기를 내 뒤에 오시는 이가 나보다 앞선 것은 나보다 먼저 계심이라 한 것이 이 사람을 가리킴이라 하니라
[16] 우리가 다 그의 충만한 데서 받으니 은혜 위에 은혜러라
[17] 율법은 모세로 말미암아 주어진 것이요 은혜와 진리는 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 온 것이라
[18] 본래 하나님을 본 사람이 없으되 아버지 품 속에 있는 독생하신 하나님이 나타내셨느니라
