What Really Matters		정말로 중요한 것
[ Matthew 16:21 - 16:28 ] - hymn 313 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? — Matthew 16:26 Several years ago a friend of mine visited an exhibit of relics from the infamous Titanic voyage. Exhibit visitors were given a replica ticket with the name of an actual passenger or crew member who, decades earlier, had embarked on the trip of a lifetime. After the tour group walked through the exhibit viewing pieces of silver dinnerware and other artifacts, the tour ended with an unforgettable twist. A large board listed the names of all the passengers, including their status—first class, second class, crew. As my friend looked for the name of the person whose ticket he was holding, he noticed a line across the board dividing the names. Above the line were the names of those who were ¡°saved¡± and below the line all those who were ¡°lost.¡± The parallel to our life on earth is profound. It really doesn¡¯t make any difference how the world ranks your status. The only thing that ultimately matters is whether you are ¡°saved¡± or ¡°lost.¡± As Jesus said, ¡°What profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?¡±(Matt.16:26). Perhaps you¡¯ve already trusted in Christ for your salvation. But what about your fellow passengers? Instead of sizing them up by the externals, talk to them about their ultimate destination.		[ 마태복음 16:21 - 16:28 ] - 찬송가 313 장 사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요－마태복음 16:26 수 년 전 내 친구가 그 유명한 타이태닉호의 항해 유물 전시회를 관람하게 되었습니다. 전시회 관람객들에게 수십 년 전 생애최고의 항해로 여겨졌던 타이태닉호에 승선한 실제 승객 또는 승무원의 이름이 적힌 승선권 복제품이 주어졌습니다. 관람객들이 깨어진 은 접시 조각들과 다른 유물들이 전시된 전시장을 다 돌고 난 후, 잊을 수 없는 반전으로 관람이 마무리되었습니다. 커다란 게시판에 모든 승객들의 이름이 일등석, 이등석, 그리고 승무원으로 구분되어 기록되어 있었습니다. 본인이 가지고 있던 승선권에 적힌 이름을 찾아보던 내 친구는 그 게시판을 가로질러 그어진 선을 보았습니다. 그 선 위로는 “생존자” 명단이 적혀 있었고, 그 선 아래로는 모든 “사망자” 명단이 있었습니다. 이 세상에서의 우리의 삶도 이와 너무나 비슷합니다. 세상에서 갖고 있는 당신의 지위는 아무 소용이 없습니다. 궁극적으로 중요한 단 한 가지는 당신이 “생존자”인가 “사망자”인가 입니다. 예수님께서는 “사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요”(마 16:26)라고 말씀하셨습니다. 당신은 이미 그리스도를 믿고 구원받았을 수도 있습니다. 당신 주변의 승객들은 어떻습니까? 외부적인 조건들로 그들을 가늠하는 대신 그들의 궁극적인 행선지에 대해 대화를 나누십시오.

It¡¯s not what I achieve that qualifies,
It matters not if I gain wealth or fame;
The only thing I must be certain of
Is ¡°Have I put my trust in Jesus¡¯ name?¡± — Hess

In light of eternity, what one believes is far more important than what one achieves.

Matthew 16:21-28

[21] From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.
[22] Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!"
[23] But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."
[24] Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
[25] "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
[26] "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
[27] "For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
[28] "Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."

내가 이룬 업적으로 자격이 주어지는 것도
부유함이나 명성이 중요한 것도 아니네
오직 내가 확실히 해야 할 것은
“예수의 이름을 믿고 있는가?” 바로 이것이라네

영원의 시각에서 보면, 무엇을 믿는가가
무엇을 이루는가보다 훨씬 중요하다.

마태복음 16:21-28

[21] 이 때로부터 예수 그리스도께서 자기가 예루살렘에 올라가 장로들과 대제사장들과 서기관들에게 많은 고난을 받고 죽임을 당하고 제삼일에 살아나야 할 것을 제자들에게 비로소 나타내시니
[22] 베드로가 예수를 붙들고 항변하여 이르되 주여 그리 마옵소서 이 일이 결코 주께 미치지 아니하리이다
[23] 예수께서 돌이키시며 베드로에게 이르시되 사탄아 내 뒤로 물러 가라 너는 나를 넘어지게 하는 자로다 네가 하나님의 일을 생각하지 아니하고 도리어 사람의 일을 생각하는도다 하시고
[24] 이에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 누구든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따를 것이니라
[25] 누구든지 제 목숨을 구원하고자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 찾으리라
[26] 사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요 사람이 무엇을 주고 제 목숨과 바꾸겠느냐
[27] 인자가 아버지의 영광으로 그 천사들과 함께 오리니 그 때에 각 사람이 행한 대로 갚으리라
[28] 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 여기 서 있는 사람 중에 죽기 전에 인자가 그 왕권을 가지고 오는 것을 볼 자들도 있느니라
