Upside Down		뒤집어진 상태
[ Matthew 5:38 - 5:48 ] - hymn 508 You have heard that it was said, ¡°You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.¡± But I say to you, love your enemies. — Matthew 5:43-44 If you were to ask me who I am, I¡¯d tell you that I¡¯m a follower of Jesus. But I have to admit, at times following Him is a real challenge. He tells me to do things like rejoice when I¡¯m persecuted (Matt. 5:11-12); to turn the other cheek (vv.38-39); to give to someone who wants to take from me (vv.40-42); to love my enemies, bless those who curse me, and do good to those who hate me (vv.43-44). This kind of lifestyle seems very upside down to me. But I¡¯ve come to realize that He¡¯s not upside down—I am. We have all been born fallen and broken. Being twisted by sin, our first instincts are often wrong, which inevitably leaves a big mess. We¡¯re like toast slathered with jelly that has fallen upside down on the kitchen floor. Left to ourselves, we can make a pretty big mess of things. Then Jesus comes along, like a divine spatula, scrapes us off the floor of our sinful ways, and turns us right side up. And as we follow His right-side-up ways, we discover that turning the other cheek keeps us from getting caught in a brawl, that it is more blessed to give than to receive, and that dying to self is life at its best. After all, His ways are not our ways(Isa.55:8), and I¡¯ve come to realize that His ways are always best!		[ 마태복음 5:38 - 5:48 ] - 찬송가 508 장 또 네 이웃을 사랑하고 네 원수를 미워하라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나 나는 너희에게 이르노니너희 원수를 사랑하며 －마태복음 5:43-44 만일 당신이 나에게 누구냐고 묻는다면 나는 예수 믿는 사람이라고 대답할 것입니다. 그러나 때로는 예수를 믿는다는 것이 정말 쉬운 일이 아니라는 것을 인정하지 않을 수 없습니다. 예수님은 나에게 핍박 받을 때에 기뻐하고(마 5:11-12), 다른 뺨을 돌려대며(38-39절), 내 것을 취하려는 사람에게 주고(40-42절), 원수를 사랑하며, 나를 저주하는 사람을 축복하고, 나를 미워하는 사람들에게 친절을 베풀라(43-44절)라고 말씀하십니다. 이런 생활방식은 나에게는 완전히 뒤집어진 것처럼 느껴집니다. 그러나 나는 예수님이 뒤집어진 것이 아니라 바로 내가 그렇다는 것을 깨닫게 되었습니다. 우리는 모두가 타락하고 불완전한 존재로 태어났습니다. 죄로 말미암아 뒤틀려 있어서, 우리의 본능은 종종 잘못되어 삶을 큰 혼란에 빠뜨리는 일을 피할 수 없게 합니다. 우리는 마치 젤리를 듬뿍 발라놓은 빵이 부엌마루에 떨어져 뒤집어진 상태와 비슷합니다. 우리 스스로에게 맡겨두면 사태는 더 걷잡을 수 없게 되어버릴 수 있습니다. 그때 마치 신성한 주걱처럼 예수님이 오셔서 우리를 우리의 죄 많은 삶의 마루바닥에서 떼어내 깨끗케 한 후 바로 세워주십니다. 이렇게 우리가 주님의 방법대로 바로 서게 되면, 우리는 다른 뺨을 내어주면서 다투지 않게 되고, 받는 것보다 주는 것이 더 큰 축복이며, 자아가 죽을 때 최상의 삶에 이르게 된다는 사실을 발견하게 됩니다. 결국 하나님의 길은 우리의 길과 다릅니다(사 55:8). 그리고 그분의 길이 언제나 최고의 길임을 나는 깨닫게 되었습니다!

We see things differently;
What once seemed right we now abhor,

What may seem upside down to us is right side up to God.

Matthew 5:38-48

[38] "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.'
[39] "But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
[40] "If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.
[41] "And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
[42] "Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.
[43] "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
[44] "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
[45] "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
[46] "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
[47] "And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
[48] "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

우리가 변화되어 새 사람이 되면
세상 보는 관점이 달라지네
이전에 옳게 보이던 것 이제는 싫어하고
잘못되었다는 것을 확실히 보게 되네

우리에게 뒤집어진 것처럼 보일지 몰라도
하나님에게는 그것이 제대로 된 것이다.

마태복음 5:38-48

[38] 또 눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로 갚으라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
[39] 나는 너희에게 이르노니 악한 자를 대적하지 말라 누구든지 네 오른편 뺨을 치거든 왼편도 돌려 대며
[40] 또 너를 고발하여 속옷을 가지고자 하는 자에게 겉옷까지도 가지게 하며
[41] 또 누구든지 너로 억지로 오 리를 가게 하거든 그 사람과 십 리를 동행하고
[42] 네게 구하는 자에게 주며 네게 꾸고자 하는 자에게 거절하지 말라
[43] 또 네 이웃을 사랑하고 네 원수를 미워하라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나
[44] 나는 너희에게 이르노니 너희 원수를 사랑하며 너희를 박해하는 자를 위하여 기도하라
[45] 이같이 한즉 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 아들이 되리니 이는 하나님이 그 해를 악인과 선인에게 비추시며 비를 의로운 자와 불의한 자에게 내려주심이라
[46] 너희가 너희를 사랑하는 자를 사랑하면 무슨 상이 있으리요 세리도 이같이 아니하느냐
[47] 또 너희가 너희 형제에게만 문안하면 남보다 더하는 것이 무엇이냐 이방인들도 이같이 아니하느냐
[48] 그러므로 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 온전하심과 같이 너희도 온전하라
