Both Near And Far		가깝고도 먼
[ Matthew 15:7 - 15:20 ] - hymn 359 Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in Your way. — Psalm 119:37 Everything was quiet in our yard. While I worked at the patio table, our dog, Maggie, lay nearby in the grass. A slight rustling of dry leaves changed everything. Maggie made her move, and suddenly she was circling a tree, where a woodchuck clung tightly to the trunk. Maggie came when I called, but I couldn¡¯t get her to look at me. Her neck was in a rigidly fixed position. Although she was near me physically, her thoughts and desires were with that woodchuck. Maggie and the woodchuck remind me of how quickly I become preoccupied with things that take my eyes off Jesus. Old temptations, new responsibilities, or ongoing desires for possessions or pleasure can quickly divert my attention from the One who knows and wants what is best for me. A similar spiritual condition afflicted the Pharisees(Matt.15:8-9). They were serving in the temple and instructing others, but their hearts were far from God. We too can teach and serve at church but be far from God. Even our religious activity becomes meaningless when our focus is not on Jesus. But if we stop being ¡°stiff-necked¡±(Acts 7:51), the Lord can turn our eyes away from worthless things and revive our hearts.		[ 마태복음 15:7 - 15:20 ] - 찬송가 359 장 내 눈을 돌이켜 허탄한 것을 보지 말게 하시고 주의 도에 나를 소성케 하소서 －시편 119:37 우리 집 마당은 평온했습니다. 내가 뜰에 놓인 탁자를 손보고 있을 때 우리 집 개 매기는 근처 잔디밭에 누워 있었습니다. 마른 나뭇잎들의 가벼운 부스럭거림이 모든 것을 바꾸어 놓았습니다. 매기는 몸을 움직여 순식간에 다람쥐 한마리가 등걸에 매달려 있는 나무주위를 맴돌았습니다. 매기는 내가 부르자 내 곁으로 오기는 했지만 나를 보고 있지는 않았습니다. 그 목은 굳게 고정되어 있었습니다. 몸은 나에게 가까이 와 있었지만, 그의 생각과 욕구는 온통 그 다람쥐에게 가 있었습니다. 매기와 그 다람쥐는 예수님으로부터 내 시선을 떼어놓게 하는 것들에게 내가 얼마나 빨리 마음을 빼앗길 수 있는지를 일깨워줍니다. 오래된 유혹이나 새로 맡은 일, 또는 소유나 쾌락에 대한 지속적인 욕구는 나에게 최선이 무엇인지 아시고 최선을 다하기를 원하시는 그분을 향한 나의 주의를 순식간에 다른 데로 돌려 버릴 수 있습니다. 이와 비슷한 영적인 상태가 바리새인들을 병들게 했습니다(마 15:8-9). 그들은 성전에서 섬기면서 다른 사람들을 가르쳤지만, 마음은 하나님으로부터 멀리 떨어져 있었습니다. 우리도 교회에서 가르치고 섬길 수 있지만 하나님으로부터 멀리 떨어져 있을 수 있습니다. 우리의 종교적인 활동조차도 초점이 예수님께 맞춰져 있지 않으면 무의미한 것이 되고 맙니다. 하지만 우리가 “목이 곧게”(행 7:51) 되는 것을 멈춘다면, 주님은 우리의 눈을 가치 없는 것들로부터 멀어지게 하시고 우리의 마음을 회복시켜주실 것입니다.

Some people follow Jesus Christ,
Then obstacles get in their way;
But if they¡¯ll focus on the Lord
They won¡¯t be led astray. — Sper

When Christ is the center of our life, all else comes into proper focus.

Matthew 15:7-20

[7] "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying£º
[8] 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.
[9] And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"
[10] When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, "Hear and understand£º
[11] "Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."
[12] Then His disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?"
[13] But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.
[14] "Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch."
[15] Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Explain this parable to us."
[16] So Jesus said, "Are you also still without understanding?
[17] "Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated?
[18] "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man.
[19] "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.
[20] "These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

예수 그리스도를 따르다가
장애물을 만나기도 하지만
주님에게 초점을 맞추고 있기만 하면
결코 길을 잃는 법이 없다네

그리스도가 우리 삶의 중심이 되면
모든 것의 초점이 바로 맞춰진다.

마태복음 15:7-20

[7] 외식하는 자들아 이사야가 너희에 관하여 잘 예언하였도다 일렀으되
[8] 이 백성이 입술로는 나를 공경하되 마음은 내게서 멀도다
[9] 사람의 계명으로 교훈을 삼아 가르치니 나를 헛되이 경배하는도다 하였느니라 하시고
[10] 무리를 불러 이르시되 듣고 깨달으라
[11] 입으로 들어가는 것이 사람을 더럽게 하는 것이 아니라 입에서 나오는 그것이 사람을 더럽게 하는 것이니라
[12] 이에 제자들이 나아와 이르되 바리새인들이 이 말씀을 듣고 걸림이 된 줄 아시나이까
[13] 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 심은 것마다 내 하늘 아버지께서 심으시지 않은 것은 뽑힐 것이니
[14] 그냥 두라 그들은 맹인이 되어 맹인을 인도하는 자로다 만일 맹인이 맹인을 인도하면 둘이 다 구덩이에 빠지리라 하시니
[15] 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 이 비유를 우리에게 설명하여 주옵소서
[16] 예수께서 이르시되 너희도 아직까지 깨달음이 없느냐
[17] 입으로 들어가는 모든 것은 배로 들어가서 뒤로 내버려지는 줄 알지 못하느냐
[18] 입에서 나오는 것들은 마음에서 나오나니 이것이야말로 사람을 더럽게 하느니라
[19] 마음에서 나오는 것은 악한 생각과 살인과 간음과 음란과 도둑질과 거짓 증언과 비방이니
[20] 이런 것들이 사람을 더럽게 하는 것이요 씻지 않은 손으로 먹는 것은 사람을 더럽게 하지 못하느니라
