[ Acts 25:1 - 25:12 ] - hymn 350 He is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before ... kings. - Acts 9:15 The book The Preacher and the Presidents chronicles the ministry of evangelist Billy Graham. Spanning presidents from Harry S. Truman to George W. Bush, Graham often had an open door to the White House. Yet despite his unusual sphere of influence, Graham repeatedly credited the grace of God working through him for his influence—not any personal talent he might possess. The apostle Paul was another believer who was called to witness to people in high authority. Christ said of Paul, ¡°He is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel¡± (Acts 9:15). In Acts, we read that Paul¡¯s sphere of influence included rulers such as Felix, Festus, Herod Agrippa, and perhaps Caesar himself (Acts 24–26). But as Billy Graham would do centuries later, Paul pointed to the grace of God working through him: ¡°Not I, but the grace of God which was with me¡± (1 Cor. 15:10). You may not be called to proclaim the gospel to heads of state, but God has placed people in your life with whom He wants you to share His message of hope. Why not pray for opportunities for God¡¯s grace to flow through you as a witness to someone in your sphere of influence? The best place to witness is where God has placed you.

Acts 25:1-12

[1] Now when Festus had come to the province, after three days he went up from Caesarea to Jerusalem.
[2] Then the high priest and the chief men of the Jews informed him against Paul; and they petitioned him,
[3] asking a favor against him, that he would summon him to Jerusalem--while they lay in ambush along the road to kill him.
[4] But Festus answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself was going there shortly.
[5] "Therefore," he said, "let those who have authority among you go down with me and accuse this man, to see if there is any fault in him."
[6] And when he had remained among them more than ten days, he went down to Caesarea. And the next day, sitting on the judgment seat, he commanded Paul to be brought.
[7] When he had come, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood about and laid many serious complaints against Paul, which they could not prove,
[8] while he answered for himself, "Neither against the law of the Jews, nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I offended in anything at all."
[9] But Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favor, answered Paul and said, "Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and there be judged before me concerning these things?"
[10] So Paul said, "I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as you very well know.
[11] "For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar."
[12] Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, "You have appealed to Caesar? To Caesar you shall go!"

주님, 내가 정확하게 증언하며
신실하게 일하도록 도와주소서
그리하여 친구와 이웃이 나의 이야기를 듣고
그리스도께로 돌아오게 하소서

하나님께서 당신을 있게 하신 그곳이
주님을 증거하기에 가장 좋은 장소이다.

사도행전 25:1-12

[1] 베스도가 부임한 지 삼 일 후에 가이사랴에서 예루살렘으로 올라가니
[2] 대제사장들과 유대인 중 높은 사람들이 바울을 고소할새
[3] 베스도의 호의로 바울을 예루살렘으로 옮기기를 청하니 이는 길에 매복하였다가 그를 죽이고자 함이러라
[4] 베스도가 대답하여 바울이 가이사랴에 구류된 것과 자기도 멀지않아 떠나갈 것을 말하고
[5] 또 이르되 너희 중 유력한 자들은 나와 함께 내려가서 그 사람에게 만일 옳지 아니한 일이 있거든 고발하라 하니라
[6] 베스도가 그들 가운데서 팔 일 혹은 십 일을 지낸 후 가이사랴로 내려가서 이튿날 재판 자리에 앉고 바울을 데려오라 명하니
[7] 그가 나오매 예루살렘에서 내려온 유대인들이 둘러서서 여러 가지 중대한 사건으로 고발하되 능히 증거를 대지 못한지라
[8] 바울이 변명하여 이르되 유대인의 율법이나 성전이나 가이사에게나 내가 도무지 죄를 범하지 아니하였노라 하니
[9] 베스도가 유대인의 마음을 얻고자 하여 바울더러 묻되 네가 예루살렘에 올라가서 이 사건에 대하여 내 앞에서 심문을 받으려느냐
[10] 바울이 이르되 내가 가이사의 재판 자리 앞에 섰으니 마땅히 거기서 심문을 받을 것이라 당신도 잘 아시는 바와 같이 내가 유대인들에게 불의를 행한 일이 없나이다
[11] 만일 내가 불의를 행하여 무슨 죽을 죄를 지었으면 죽기를 사양하지 아니할 것이나 만일 이 사람들이 나를 고발하는 것이 다 사실이 아니면 아무도 나를 그들에게 내줄 수 없나이다 내가 가이사께 상소하노라 한대
[12] 베스도가 배석자들과 상의하고 이르되 네가 가이사에게 상소하였으니 가이사에게 갈 것이라 하니라
