Confidence In What?		무엇에 대한 자신감?
[ 1 Corinthians 10:1 - 10:12 ] - hymn 424 Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. -1 Corinthians 10:12 While walking through a home-improvement store, I saw a man wearing a bright red T-shirt bearing this melancholy message: ¡°Confidence: The feeling you have just before you understand the situation.¡± I laughed at this humorous concept, but I also realized that the shirt carried a sane and sound warning. It¡¯s a reminder to all of us who try to get things done through confidence in our own ability or credentials but without consciously trusting in the strength of God. If we think we can accomplish life¡¯s tasks in our own strength, that false confidence will inevitably become our undoing—and we¡¯ll collapse under the weight of our own failings. Paul wrote to the Corinthians about this by recalling ancient Israel¡¯s penchant for self-confidence and self-sufficiency. He described everything the Israelites thought they had going for them; then he told how they had turned those benefits into a license to sin and an almost arrogant confidence that would prove to be their undoing. Paul said their self-confidence should warn us. His conclusion? ¡°Let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall¡± (1 Cor. 10:12). Psalm 118:8 shows us the best way: ¡°It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man,¡± or in ourselves. Where is your confidence? Confidence in Christ is the right kind of confidence.

1 Corinthians 10:1-12

[1] Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea,
[2] all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
[3] all ate the same spiritual food,
[4] and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.
[5] But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
[6] Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.
[7] And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."
[8] Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell;
[9] nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;
[10] nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
[11] Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.
[12] Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

선 줄로 생각하는 모든 사람들이
넘어질까 조심하게 하라
이 말은 하나님만이 모두의 주님이시라는 사실을
우리에게 기억나게 해준다

그리스도를 신뢰하는 것이 올바른 자신감이다.

고린도전서 10:1-12

[1] 형제들아 나는 너희가 알지 못하기를 원하지 아니하노니 우리 조상들이 다 구름 아래에 있고 바다 가운데로 지나며
[2] 모세에게 속하여 다 구름과 바다에서 세례를 받고
[3] 모두가 같은 신령한 음식을 먹으며
[4] 모두가 같은 신령한 음료를 뒤따르는 신령한 반석으로부터 마셨으니 그 반석은 곧 그리스도시라
[5] 그러나 그들의 다수를 하나님이 기뻐하지 아니하셨으므로 그들이 광야에서 멸망을 받았느니라
[6] 이러한 일은 우리들의 본보기가 되어 우리로 하여금 그들이 악을 즐겨한 것 같이 즐겨하는 자가 되지 않게 하려 함이니
[7] 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들과 같이 너희는 우상 숭배하는 자가 되지 말라 기록된 바 백성이 앉아서 먹고 마시며 일어나서 뛰논다 함과 같으니라
[8] 그들 중의 어떤 사람들이 음행하다가 하루에 이만 삼천 명이 죽었나니 우리는 그들과 같이 음행하지 말자
[9] 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들이 주를 시험하다가 뱀에게 멸망하였나니 우리는 그들과 같이 시험하지 말자
[10] 그들 가운데 어떤 사람들이 원망하다가 멸망시키는 자에게 멸망하였나니 너희는 그들과 같이 원망하지 말라
[11] 그들에게 일어난 이런 일은 본보기가 되고 또한 말세를 만난 우리를 깨우치기 위하여 기록되었느니라
[12] 그런즉 선 줄로 생각하는 자는 넘어질까 조심하라
