Judge Not!		비판하지 말라!
[ 1 Corinthians 4:1 - 4:5 ] - hymn 171 Judge not, that you be not judged. — Matthew 7:1 When Jesus commanded, ¡°Judge not,¡± He was not implying that we should be naïve or imprudent. Of course we need to think critically and analytically in this world where we are often confronted with error and wrongdoing. Instead, He meant that we should not be condemning or accusing, a point Paul made eloquently: ¡°Judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts¡± (1 Cor. 4:5). Poet Robert Burns made a similar point, writing of those whose actions are in doubt: ¡°One point must still be greatly dark—the [motive]. Why they do it.¡± No one knows another¡¯s motives. God alone can bring to light what is hidden in darkness; He alone can expose the intentions of the heart. Jesus knows the latent forces that motivate others: the cruel beginnings, the fear, the disappointment, the broken heart, the sin that is resisted. Moreover, He is working in every submissive heart to bring it to maturity. Thus in the end—quite often contrary to our expectations—He will bring praise to those He has brought to completion. The Lord alone can try the heart. Until He returns, let¡¯s ask Him to help us examine our own.		[ 고린도전서 4:1 - 4:5 ] - 찬송가 171 장 비판을 받지 아니하려거든 비판하지 말라－ 마태복음 7:1 예수님께서 “비판하지 말라”라고 명하셨을때, 그것은 우리가 순진해야 된다거나 분별이 없어야 된다는 것을 뜻하신 것이 아닙니다. 당연히 우리는 실수나 잘못된 행동에 자주 마주치는 세상에서 비판적이며 분별력 있게 생각해야 합니다. 여기서 주님이 의미 하신 것은 우리가 비난하거나 정죄하지 말아야 한다는 것입니다. 바울은 그 점을 생생하게 잘 지적하고 있습니다. “때가 이르기 전 곧 주께서 오시기까지 아무것도 판단치 말라 그가 어두움에 감추인 것을 드러내고 마음의 뜻을 나타내시리니”(고전4:5). 시인 로버트 번즈는 행동이 의심스러운 사람들의 이야기를 쓰면서 바울과 비슷한 지적을 했습니다. “아직도 알 수 없는 한 가지가 있습니다. 그것은 ‘동기’, 즉 그들이 왜 그런 일을 하는가입니다.” 아무도 다른 사람들의 동기를 알지 못합니다. 하나님만이 어두움 속에 감춰진 것을 밝히 드러내실 수 있고, 그분만이 마음의 의도를 들춰낼 수 있습니다. 예수님은 고통스러웠던 어린 시절이나 두려움, 좌절, 상한 마음, 억눌린 죄와 같이, 사람들의 동기를 유발하는 잠재된 힘들을 아십니다. 나아가 주님은 모든 순종하는 마음속에서 그 마음이 성숙하도록 역사하고 계십니다. 그래서 마침내, 종종 우리의 예상과는 달리, 주님은 주님께서 완전하게 만드신 사람들이 하나님을 찬양하게 하십니다. 주님만이 사람의 마음을 심판하실 수 있습니다. 주님이 다시 오실때까지 우리가 우리의 마음을 살필 수 있도록 도와달라고 간구합시다.

Be slow to judge others, but quick to judge yourself.

1 Corinthians 4:1-5

[1] Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
[2] Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.
[3] But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.
[4] For I know nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord.
[5] Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God.

“비판하지도, 정죄하지도 말라”고
형제의 잘못을 감시하지 말라 하셨네
우리에게 주어진 오직 한 가지 과제는
스스로 돌아보아 자신의 잘못을 다스리는 것이라네

다른 사람에 대한 판단은 천천히 하고,
자신에 대한 판단은 빨리 하라.

고린도전서 4:1-5

[1] 사람이 마땅히 우리를 그리스도의 일꾼이요 하나님의 비밀을 맡은 자로 여길지어다
[2] 그리고 맡은 자들에게 구할 것은 충성이니라
[3] 너희에게나 다른 사람에게나 판단 받는 것이 내게는 매우 작은 일이라 나도 나를 판단하지 아니하노니
[4] 내가 자책할 아무 것도 깨닫지 못하나 이로 말미암아 의롭다 함을 얻지 못하노라 다만 나를 심판하실 이는 주시니라
[5] 그러므로 때가 이르기 전 곧 주께서 오시기까지 아무 것도 판단하지 말라 그가 어둠에 감추인 것들을 드러내고 마음의 뜻을 나타내시리니 그 때에 각 사람에게 하나님으로부터 칭찬이 있으리라
