A Man My Age		내 나이의 사람
[ Psalms 71:1 - 71:24 ] - hymn 358 When I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation. — Psalm 71:18 On a recent flight, I got ready to do some work. Spread out on my tray were my laptop computer, backup hard drive, iPod, and other gadgets that are part of being a 21st-century ¡°road warrior.¡± As I worked, a young man seated beside me asked if he could make a comment. He told me how inspirational it was for him, a young man, to see someone my age so enthusiastically embracing modern technology. In spite of his intention to compliment me, I suddenly felt about 120 years old. What did he mean by ¡°someone my age¡±? I wondered. After all, I was ¡°only¡± 57. Then I remembered Psalm 71, the psalm for folks ¡°my age¡± and beyond. It reminds us of the value of a life well lived and of the worth of lessons learned: Lessons are not just for our benefit but also for us to pass along to the next generations. The psalmist wrote, ¡°When I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come¡±(v.18). So, maybe being ¡°someone my age¡± isn¡¯t such a bad gig. It is the privilege of ¡°veteran¡± Christ-followers to declare the strength and power of God to the younger generations. That¡¯s how we can truly be inspirational to them.		[ 시편 71:1 - 71:24 ] - 찬송가 358 장 하나님이여 내가 늙어 백수가 될 때에도 내가 주의 힘을 후대에...전하기까지 나를 버리지 마소서－시편 71:18 최근의 비행기 여행을 하면서 일을 좀 해보려고 21세기의 “길의 전사”들인 노트북컴퓨터와 백업 하드드라이브, 아이팟, 그리고 다른 기기들을 좌석 앞 탁자에 펼쳐 놓았습니다. 내가 일하는 중에 옆 자리의 젊은이가 한마디 해도 되겠느냐고 물었습니다. 그는 젊은 사람이 보기에 내 나이의 사람이 현대기술을 그렇게 열정적으로 받아들이는 것이 너무 인상 깊다고 얘기했습니다. 나를 칭찬하려 한 그의 의도에도 불구하고, 나는 갑자기 120살이나 된 느낌이었습니다. 그 젊은이가 말한 ‘내 나이의 사람’이란 무슨 뜻일까 궁금했습니다. 어쨌거나 나는 “겨우” 57세였기 때문입니다. 그런 후 “내 나이”또래나 더 많은 나이의사람들을 위해 쓴 시인 시편 71편이 생각났습니다. 그 시편은 우리에게 잘 살아온 삶과 그 속에서 얻은 교훈에 대한 가치를 상기시켜 줍니다. 교훈은 우리의 유익을 위한 것만이 아니라 다음 세대에게 전달해주기 위한 것이기도 합니다. 시편기자는 “하나님이시여, 내가 늙어 백발이 되어도 나를 버리지 마시며, 내가 주님의 힘을 이 세대에게, 주님의 능력을 장차 올 모든 세대들에게 전하기까지 그렇게 하소서”(18절, 바른성경)라고 썼습니다. 그러므로 “내 나이의 사람”이 된다는 것은 그렇게 나쁜 것은 아닙니다. 하나님의 힘과 능력에 대해 젊은 세대에게 선포하는 것은 그리스도를 따르는 “노병”들의 특권입니다. 그것이 우리가 참으로 그들에게 감명을 줄 수 있는 방법입니다.

The best gift for the younger generation is a good example from the older generation.

Psalm 71:1-24

[1] In You, O LORD, I put my trust; Let me never be put to shame.
[2] Deliver me in Your righteousness, and cause me to escape; Incline Your ear to me, and save me.
[3] Be my strong refuge, To which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, For You are my rock and my fortress.
[4] Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, Out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.
[5] For You are my hope, O Lord GOD; You are my trust from my youth.
[6] By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother's womb. My praise shall be continually of You.
[7] I have become as a wonder to many, But You are my strong refuge.
[8] Let my mouth be filled with Your praise And with Your glory all the day.
[9] Do not cast me off in the time of old age; Do not forsake me when my strength fails.
[10] For my enemies speak against me; And those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together,
[11] Saying, "God has forsaken him; Pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him."
[12] O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me!
[13] Let them be confounded and consumed Who are adversaries of my life; Let them be covered with reproach and dishonor Who seek my hurt.
[14] But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.
[15] My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And Your salvation all the day, For I do not know their limits.
[16] I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only.
[17] O God, You have taught me from my youth; And to this day I declare Your wondrous works.
[18] Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come.
[19] Also Your righteousness, O God, is very high, You who have done great things; O God, who is like You?
[20] You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, Shall revive me again, And bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
[21] You shall increase my greatness, And comfort me on every side.
[22] Also with the lute I will praise you--And Your faithfulness, O my God! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel.
[23] My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed.
[24] My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long; For they are confounded, For they are brought to shame Who seek my hurt.

하나님 말씀을 신뢰하는 나이든 성도들은
지금 젊은 성도들이 걷고 있는 길을 걸어왔다네
젊은 성도들이 겪게 될 싸움을 그들이 지금껏 싸워왔으니
그들의 지혜가 진리와 정의를 가르쳐 준다네

젊은 세대에게 가장 좋은 선물은
늙은 세대가 좋은 본을 보여주는 것이다.

시편 71:1-24

[1] 여호와여 내가 주께 피하오니 내가 영원히 수치를 당하게 하지 마소서
[2] 주의 의로 나를 건지시며 나를 풀어 주시며 주의 귀를 내게 기울이사 나를 구원하소서
[3] 주는 내가 항상 피하여 숨을 바위가 되소서 주께서 나를 구원하라 명령하셨으니 이는 주께서 나의 반석이시요 나의 요새이심이니이다
[4] 나의 하나님이여 나를 악인의 손 곧 불의한 자와 흉악한 자의 장중에서 피하게 하소서
[5] 주 여호와여 주는 나의 소망이시요 내가 어릴 때부터 신뢰한 이시라
[6] 내가 모태에서부터 주를 의지하였으며 나의 어머니의 배에서부터 주께서 나를 택하셨사오니 나는 항상 주를 찬송하리이다
[7] 나는 무리에게 이상한 징조 같이 되었사오나 주는 나의 견고한 피난처시오니
[8] 주를 찬송함과 주께 영광 돌림이 종일토록 내 입에 가득하리이다
[9] 늙을 때에 나를 버리지 마시며 내 힘이 쇠약할 때에 나를 떠나지 마소서
[10] 내 원수들이 내게 대하여 말하며 내 영혼을 엿보는 자들이 서로 꾀하여
[11] 이르기를 하나님이 그를 버리셨은즉 따라 잡으라 건질 자가 없다 하오니
[12] 하나님이여 나를 멀리 하지 마소서 나의 하나님이여 속히 나를 도우소서
[13] 내 영혼을 대적하는 자들이 수치와 멸망을 당하게 하시며 나를 모해하려 하는 자들에게는 욕과 수욕이 덮이게 하소서
[14] 나는 항상 소망을 품고 주를 더욱더욱 찬송하리이다
[15] 내가 측량할 수 없는 주의 공의와 구원을 내 입으로 종일 전하리이다
[16] 내가 주 여호와의 능하신 행적을 가지고 오겠사오며 주의 공의만 전하겠나이다
[17] 하나님이여 나를 어려서부터 교훈하셨으므로 내가 지금까지 주의 기이한 일들을 전하였나이다
[18] 하나님이여 내가 늙어 백발이 될 때에도 나를 버리지 마시며 내가 주의 힘을 후대에 전하고 주의 능력을 장래의 모든 사람에게 전하기까지 나를 버리지 마소서
[19] 하나님이여 주의 의가 또한 지극히 높으시니이다 하나님이여 주께서 큰 일을 행하셨사오니 누가 주와 같으리이까
[20] 우리에게 여러 가지 심한 고난을 보이신 주께서 우리를 다시 살리시며 땅 깊은 곳에서 다시 이끌어 올리시리이다
[21] 나를 더욱 창대하게 하시고 돌이키사 나를 위로하소서
[22] 나의 하나님이여 내가 또 비파로 주를 찬양하며 주의 성실을 찬양하리이다 이스라엘의 거룩하신 주여 내가 수금으로 주를 찬양하리이다
[23] 내가 주를 찬양할 때에 나의 입술이 기뻐 외치며 주께서 속량하신 내 영혼이 즐거워하리이다
[24] 나의 혀도 종일토록 주의 의를 작은 소리로 읊조리오리니 나를 모해하려 하던 자들이 수치와 무안을 당함이니이다
