[ Matthew 24:36 - 24:44 ] - hymn 163 Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age? — Matthew 24:3 News that a solar eclipse would take place on July 22, 2009, brought an alarming prediction. It was predicted that the eclipse would sufficiently affect gravitational pull, causing tectonic plates to ¡°pop a seam,¡± resulting in a sizable earthquake and a subsequent devastating tsunami in Japan. The US Geological Survey responded that no scientists ¡°have ever predicted a major earthquake. They do not know how, and they do not expect to know how, anytime in the foreseeable future.¡± There have also been many false predictions about the date of Christ¡¯s second coming—despite our Lord¡¯s emphatic words: ¡°But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only¡±(Matt.24:36). Christ told His followers that instead of trying to predict the date of His return, they should ¡°watch¡±(v.42) and ¡°be ready¡±(v.44). Peter warned, ¡°The day of the Lord will come like a thief.¡± Then he added: ¡°What kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives¡±(2 Peter 3:10-11 NIV). Striving to live for God—that¡¯s what Jesus wants us to focus our energy on while we wait for that ¡°blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ¡± (Titus 2:13). Matthew 24:36-44

[36] "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.
[37] "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
[38] "For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
[39] "and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
[40] "Then two men will be in the field£º one will be taken and the other left.
[41] "Two women will be grinding at the mill£º one will be taken and the other left.
[42] "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.
[43] "But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into.
[44] "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

누군가가 “주님이 언제 재림하실지
난 정확히 알고 있다”고 해도
그 말에 속거나 잘못된 길에 빠지지 말라
아무도 그 날을 알 수 없다고 주님이 말씀하셨으니

그리스도의 재림을 고대하는 것은
주님의 영광을 위해 사는 것이다.

[37] 노아의 때와 같이 인자의 임함도 그러하리라
[38] 홍수 전에 노아가 방주에 들어가던 날까지 사람들이 먹고 마시고 장가 들고 시집 가고 있으면서
[39] 홍수가 나서 그들을 다 멸하기까지 깨닫지 못하였으니 인자의 임함도 이와 같으리라
[40] 그 때에 두 사람이 밭에 있으매 한 사람은 데려가고 한 사람은 버려둠을 당할 것이요
[41] 두 여자가 맷돌질을 하고 있으매 한 사람은 데려가고 한 사람은 버려둠을 당할 것이니라
[42] 그러므로 깨어 있으라 어느 날에 너희 주가 임할는지 너희가 알지 못함이니라
[43] 너희도 아는 바니 만일 집 주인이 도둑이 어느 시각에 올 줄을 알았더라면 깨어 있어 그 집을 뚫지 못하게 하였으리라
[44] 이러므로 너희도 준비하고 있으라 생각하지 않은 때에 인자가 오리라
