Letting God Choose		선택은 하나님께
[ Genesis 13:9 - 13:13 ] - hymn 433 Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan. - Genesis 13:11 We may have secret longings too deep to utter to others—perhaps a desire for marriage, or a work or ministry we¡¯d like to perform, or a special place to serve. We must put each desire in God¡¯s hands and pray, ¡°Lord, You must choose for me. I will not choose for myself.¡± Genesis 13:10-11 tells us that Lot made his own choice about a desire he had. He ¡°lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere ... like the garden of the Lord ... Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan.¡± The plain of Jordan, with its rich soil and copious water supply, looked best to Lot. But the land was polluted with wickedness (v.13). Pastor Ray Stedman wrote that ¡°Lot, presuming to run his own life, ¡®chose for himself,¡¯ and, deceived by what he saw, stumbled blindly into heartache and judgment. Abram, on the other hand, was content to let God choose for him.... Abram saw it in its true light.¡± Lot chose for himself and lost everything—his family, his fortune, his favor with man. It is always the best course for us to let God choose and to follow His direction, knowing as we do that all our heavenly Father¡¯s choices are prompted by infinite wisdom and love. — David H. Roper		[ 창세기 13:9 - 13:13 ] - 찬송가 433 장 그러므로 롯이 요단 온 들을 택하고－창세기 13:11 우리에게는 너무나 은밀하여 다른 사람들에게 언급할 수조차 없는 비밀스런 소원들이 있을 수도 있습니다. 결혼, 혹은 직장, 혹은 하고 싶은 사역, 혹은 섬기고 싶은 특별한 장소 같은 욕심들 말입니다. 우리는 이러한 갈망들을 하나님의 손에 맡기고, “주님, 저를 위해서 선택 해 주셔야만 합니다. 제 스스로는 선택하지 않겠습니다.” 라고 기도해야 합니다. 창세기 13장 10-11절은 자신이 원하는 것을 자신이 스스로 선택한 롯의 이야기를 말해주고 있습니다. “눈을 들어 요단 들을 바라본즉 소알까지 온 땅에 물이 넉넉하니...여호와의 동산 같고...그러므로 롯이 요단 온 들을 택하고”라고 기록하고 있습니다. 기름진 땅과 물이 철철 흐르는 요단의 들판은 롯에게 그 이상 좋아 보일 수가 없었습니다. 그러나 그 땅은 악으로 물든 곳이었습니다(13절). 레이 스테드만 목사는 다음과 같이 썼습니다. “감히 스스로의 삶을 관리하기로 하여 롯은 ‘자신을 위한 선택’을 했고, 결국 자신이 눈으로 본 것에 현혹되어 고통과 심판의 막다른 골목으로 들어가는 잘못을 저질렀습니다. 반면에 아브람은 기꺼이 하나님께서 자신을 위해 선택하시는 것에 만족했고...... 그렇게 함으로써 참된 빛으로 볼 수 있었습니다.” 롯은 자신을 위해 스스로 선택한 결과 자신의 가족, 재산, 주위 사람들의 마음까지 모두 잃었습니다. 하나님 아버지의 선택은 무한한 지혜와 사랑에서 기인한다는 것을 알고, 하나님 아버지께 선택을 맡기고 그의 지시를 따르는 것이 우리에게는 언제나 가장 좋은 길입니다.

He¡¯s never failed to lead me day by day. — Hess

Contentment comes when we want God¡¯s will more than our own way.

Genesis 13:9-13

[9] "Is not the whole land before you? Please separate from me. If you take the left, then I will go to the right; or, if you go to the right, then I will go to the left."
[10] And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered everywhere (before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar.
[11] Then Lot chose for himself all the plain of Jordan, and Lot journeyed east. And they separated from each other.
[12] Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent even as far as Sodom.
[13] But the men of Sodom were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the LORD.

예전에는 내 인생을 내가 결정했지만
주님을 섬기며 주께 내 길 선택을 맡겼네
삶의 갈림길에서 주저할 때
주님은 어김없이 매일 바른 길로 이끄셨네

우리의 만족은 우리 자신의 방법보다
하나님의 뜻을 더 원할 때에 생긴다.

창세기 13:9-13

[9] 네 앞에 온 땅이 있지 아니하냐 나를 떠나가라 네가 좌하면 나는 우하고 네가 우하면 나는 좌하리라
[10] 이에 롯이 눈을 들어 요단 지역을 바라본즉 소알까지 온 땅에 물이 넉넉하니 여호와께서 소돔과 고모라를 멸하시기 전이었으므로 여호와의 동산 같고 애굽 땅과 같았더라
[11] 그러므로 롯이 요단 온 지역을 택하고 동으로 옮기니 그들이 서로 떠난지라
[12] 아브람은 가나안 땅에 거주하였고 롯은 그 지역의 도시들에 머무르며 그 장막을 옮겨 소돔까지 이르렀더라
[13] 소돔 사람은 여호와 앞에 악하며 큰 죄인이었더라
