[ Colossians 1:3 - 1:12 ] - hymn 483 [We] do not cease to pray for you. - Colossians 1:9 An article in The Washington Post told about a 15-year-old girl who sent and received 6,473 cell phone text messages in a single month. She says about her constant communication with friends, ¡°I would die without it.¡± And she is not alone. Researchers say that US teens with cell phones average more than 2,200 text messages a month. To me, this ongoing digital conversation offers a remarkable illustration of what prayer could and should be like for every follower of Christ. Paul seemed to be constantly in an attitude of prayer for others: ¡°[We] do not cease to pray for you¡±(Col.1:9). ¡°Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit¡±(Eph.6:18). ¡°Pray without ceasing¡± (1 Thess. 5:17). But how can we possibly do that? Missionary Frank Laubach described his habit of ¡°shooting¡± prayers at people as he encountered them during the course of each day. In a sense, he was ¡°texting¡± God on their behalf, staying in constant communication with the Father. Laubach believed that prayer is the mightiest force in the world, and said: ¡°My part is to live in this hour in continuous inner conversation with God and in perfect responsiveness to His will.¡± Pray without ceasing. Perhaps what Paul urged us to do can be done. — David C. McCasland		[ 골로새서 1:3 - 1:12 ] - 찬송가 483 장 너희를 위하여 기도하기를 그치지 아니하고....－골로새서 1:9 「워싱턴 포스트」에 단 한 달 동안에 휴대폰으로 보내고 받은 문자 메시지가 6,473개나 된다는 어떤 열다섯 살 난 소녀의 이야기가 실렸습니다. 친구들과 하루 종일 쉬지 않고 소통한다는 그녀는 “난 문자 메시지 없이는 못 살아요.”라고 말했습니다. 이 이야기는 그 소녀에게만 국한된 일이 아닙니다. 조사에 의하면 휴대폰을 소지한 미국의 청소년들은 한 달에 평균 2,200건 이상의 문자 메시지를 주고받는다고 합니다. 이러한 끊임없는 디지털 대화는 그리스도를 따르는 모든 이들에게 기도가 무엇인지, 어떤 것이 되어야 하는지에 대한 훌륭한 예시가 될 수 있다는 생각이 듭니다. 바울은 쉬지 않고 다른 사람들을 위해 기도를 했었던 것 같습니다. “너희를 위하여 기도하기를 그치지 아니하고 구하노니”(골 1:9). “모든 기도와 간구로 하되 무시로 성령 안에서 기도하고”(엡 6:18). “쉬지 말고 기도하라”(살전 5:17). 그러나 항상 기도하는 것이 어떻게 가능할까요? 선교사 프랭크 라박은 하루를 살아가며 사람들과 마주칠 때마다 기도를 “쏘는” 자신의 버릇에 대해 설명했습니다. 어떻게 보면 그는 그가 만나는 사람들을 위하여 하나님과 끊임없이 소통하며 하나님께 문자 메시지를 보낸 셈입니다. 라박은 기도란 세상에서 가장 위대한 힘이라고 믿었으며, “나의 소명은 바로 이 시간 하나님과 계속적인 내면의 대화를 하며 살아가는 것이고 그 분의 뜻에 온전하게 순종하는 것이다.”라고 말했습니다. 쉬지 말고 기도하십시오. 바울이 우리에게 권면한 일은 이루어질수 있습니다.

Give me a spirit of prayer, dear Lord,
That I may commune with Thee
As I travel along life¡¯s rugged road,
In Thy company always to be. — Dawe

Prayer should become as natural as breathing.

Colossians 1:3-12

[3] We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
[4] since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints;
[5] because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,
[6] which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth;
[7] as you also learned from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf,
[8] who also declared to us your love in the Spirit.
[9] For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
[10] that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
[11] strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;
[12] giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

사랑하는 주님, 기도의 영을 내게 허락 하소서
당신과 사귈 수 있도록
삶의 험한 길을 다닐 때
당신과 늘 함께 하게 하소서

기도는 숨 쉬는 것과 같이 자연스러워져야 한다.

골로새서 1:3-12

[3] 우리가 너희를 위하여 기도할 때마다 하나님 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 감사하노라
[4] 이는 그리스도 예수 안에 너희의 믿음과 모든 성도에 대한 사랑을 들었음이요
[5] 너희를 위하여 하늘에 쌓아 둔 소망으로 말미암음이니 곧 너희가 전에 복음 진리의 말씀을 들은 것이라
[6] 이 복음이 이미 너희에게 이르매 너희가 듣고 참으로 하나님의 은혜를 깨달은 날부터 너희 중에서와 같이 또한 온 천하에서도 열매를 맺어 자라는도다
[7] 이와 같이 우리와 함께 종 된 사랑하는 에바브라에게 너희가 배웠나니 그는 너희를 위한 그리스도의 신실한 일꾼이요
[8] 성령 안에서 너희 사랑을 우리에게 알린 자니라
[9] 이로써 우리도 듣던 날부터 너희를 위하여 기도하기를 그치지 아니하고 구하노니 너희로 하여금 모든 신령한 지혜와 총명에 하나님의 뜻을 아는 것으로 채우게 하시고
[10] 주께 합당하게 행하여 범사에 기쁘시게 하고 모든 선한 일에 열매를 맺게 하시며 하나님을 아는 것에 자라게 하시고
[11] 그의 영광의 힘을 따라 모든 능력으로 능하게 하시며 기쁨으로 모든 견딤과 오래 참음에 이르게 하시고
[12] 우리로 하여금 빛 가운데서 성도의 기업의 부분을 얻기에 합당하게 하신 아버지께 감사하게 하시기를 원하노라
