Authentic Beauty		참된 아름다움
[ Proverbs 31:21 - 31:31 ] - hymn 414 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised. - Proverbs 31:30 I often take a moment as I wait at our grocery store checkout stand to scan the covers of the magazines displayed there. It seems that if they aren¡¯t about sex and money, they¡¯re about diet, fitness, health, and outward beauty. There¡¯s nothing there for the soul. The problem is that people read the wrong magazines—those that are full of lies that fixate on beauty of face and form as though that¡¯s all there is. This can lead to comparison and terrible despair. Some years ago, a friend of mine told of a conversation he had with a lovely, self-assured teenager. ¡°You¡¯re very self-confident,¡± he observed. ¡°Can you tell me why?¡± ¡°Yes,¡± the young woman answered. ¡°It¡¯s because I¡¯m so pretty.¡± ¡°Oh, I¡¯m sorry,¡± he said with extraordinary wisdom. ¡°Why?¡± she asked in surprise. ¡°Because,¡± he replied, ¡°you may not always be pretty.¡± ¡°Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing¡± is the wisdom we read in Proverbs 31. Physical beauty all too quickly fades away; all one¡¯s efforts to keep it are doomed to fail. But there is an inner beauty—authentic beauty that will endure forever—in the one ¡°who fears the Lord¡±(v.30). — David H. Roper		[ 잠언 31:21 - 31:31 ] - 찬송가 414 장 고운 것도 거짓되고 아름다운 것도 헛되나 오직 여호와를 경외하는 여자는 칭찬을 받을 것이라－잠언 31:30 나는 수퍼마켓에서 물건을 사고 돈을 내기 위해 계산대 앞에 줄을 서서 기다리는 동안 주변에 진열된 잡지들의 표지들을 잠시 훑어봅니다. 그 잡지들은 섹스나 돈에 관한 것들이 아니면, 다이어트, 운동, 건강, 그리고 외적인 아름다움에 관한 것들입니다. 영혼에 관한 것은 전혀 없습니다. 문제는 사람들이 잘못된 잡지를 읽는다는 것입니다. 그 책들은 얼굴과 몸의 아름다움이 전부인 것처럼 그것들에 몰두하게 하는 거짓으로 가득 차 있습니다. 이것은 다른 사람들과 비교하게 만들고 심한 절망에 빠지게 합니다. 몇 년 전 친구 하나가 예쁘고 자신 만만한 10대 소녀와 나눈 대화에 대해 들려 준 적이 있습니다. 친구가 소녀에게 “당신은 정말 자신 만만하군요.”라고 말하며 “그 이유가 무엇입니까?”라고 묻자 그 소녀는 “예, 저는 너무 예쁘니까요.”라고 답하였습니다. 그러자 내 친구가 지혜롭게도 “오, 정말 안됐군요.”라고 소녀에게 말했습니다. 소녀는 놀란 표정으로 “왜요?”라고 물었습니다. 친구는 “당신이 영원히 아름다울 것은 아니기 때문이지요.”라고 대답했습니다. 잠언 31장에 “고운 것도 거짓되고 아름다운 것도 헛되나”라는 지혜의 말씀이 있습니다. 육체의 아름다움은 너무 빨리 사라집니다. 그래서 그런 아름다움을 유지하려는 모든 노력은 실패하기 마련입니다. 그러나 내적인 아름다움 즉 영원히 유지되는 참된 아름다움이 있는데, 이것은 “여호와를 경외하는 자”(30절)에게 있습니다.

Let the beauty of Jesus be seen in me—

Righteousness in the heart produces beauty in the character.

Proverbs 31:21-31

[21] She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
[22] She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
[23] Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land.
[24] She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants.
[25] Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come.
[26] She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
[27] She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.
[28] Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her£º
[29] "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all."
[30] Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
[31] Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates.

예수님의 아름다움이 내 속에서 보이게 하소서
주님의 놀라운 열정과 고결함 모두가!
성령이여, 내 모든 형상 다듬어 주소서
예수님의 아름다움 내 속에서 보일 때까지

의로운 마음은 아름다운 인격을 만들어 낸다.

잠언 31:21-31

[21] 자기 집 사람들은 다 홍색 옷을 입었으므로 눈이 와도 그는 자기 집 사람들을 위하여 염려하지 아니하며
[22] 그는 자기를 위하여 아름다운 이불을 지으며 세마포와 자색 옷을 입으며
[23] 그의 남편은 그 땅의 장로들과 함께 성문에 앉으며 사람들의 인정을 받으며
[24] 그는 베로 옷을 지어 팔며 띠를 만들어 상인들에게 맡기며
[25] 능력과 존귀로 옷을 삼고 후일을 웃으며
[26] 입을 열어 지혜를 베풀며 그의 혀로 인애의 법을 말하며
[27] 자기의 집안 일을 보살피고 게을리 얻은 양식을 먹지 아니하나니
[28] 그의 자식들은 일어나 감사하며 그의 남편은 칭찬하기를
[29] 덕행 있는 여자가 많으나 그대는 모든 여자보다 뛰어나다 하느니라
[30] 고운 것도 거짓되고 아름다운 것도 헛되나 오직 여호와를 경외하는 여자는 칭찬을 받을 것이라
[31] 그 손의 열매가 그에게로 돌아갈 것이요 그 행한 일로 말미암아 성문에서 칭찬을 받으리라
