The Real Hero		진정한 영웅
[ John 3:22 - 3:30 ] - hymn 354 He must increase, but I must decrease. - John 3:30 Louis B. Neumiller was known for his humility, integrity, and commitment to quality. As president of the Caterpillar Tractor Company from 1941–54, he led the manufacturer of earth-moving equipment through the challenges of World War II into global expansion. In the book In Their Time: The Greatest Business Leaders of the Twentieth Century, authors Mayo and Nohria describe Neumiller¡¯s leadership as ¡°success without fanfare.¡± His mark of greatness, they note, was that he took his identity out of the business and ¡°let his company become a hero instead of himself.¡± We see the same quality of selflessness in John the Baptist, the dynamic preacher who repeatedly affirmed his mission of paving the way for the Messiah. When John¡¯s followers became concerned that Jesus was baptizing people and crowds were following Him, John replied: ¡°You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ¡®I am not the Christ,¡¯ but, ¡®I have been sent before Him.¡¯... He must increase, but I must decrease¡±(John 3:28,30). As followers of Christ, are we lifting Him up instead of seeking honor for ourselves? Rather than being disappointed when our contribution is unnoticed, we should be glad because our highest privilege is to magnify the Lord. He¡¯s the hero! Honoring Him is the mark of greatness. — David C. The great Christian is one who is small enough to let God be great in his life.

John 3:22-30

[22] After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea, and there He remained with them and baptized.
[23] Now John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was much water there. And they came and were baptized.
[24] For John had not yet been thrown into prison.
[25] Then there arose a dispute between some of John's disciples and the Jews about purification.
[26] And they came to John and said to him, "Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified--behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!"
[27] John answered and said, "A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.
[28] "You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but, 'I have been sent before Him.'
[29] "He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled.
[30] "He must increase, but I must decrease.

기도: 주님, 저희에게 겸손을 가르쳐주소서. 우리 자신보다
주님이 알려지고 영광 받으시고 사랑 받으시고
모든 생각과 행동을 통해 찬양받으시옵소서. 아멘.

위대한 그리스도인은 자기 삶에서
하나님이 더 크시도록 하기 위해 작아지는 사람이다.

[22] 그 후에 예수께서 제자들과 유대 땅으로 가서 거기 함께 유하시며 침례를 베푸시더라
[23] 요한도 살렘 가까운 애논에서 침례를 베푸니 거기 물이 많음이라 그러므로 사람들이 와서 침례를 받더라
[24] 요한이 아직 옥에 갇히지 아니하였더라
[25] 이에 요한의 제자 중에서 한 유대인과 더불어 정결예식에 대하여 변론이 되었더니
[26] 그들이 요한에게 가서 이르되 랍비여 선생님과 함께 요단 강 저편에 있던 이 곧 선생님이 증언하시던 이가 침례를 베풀매 사람이 다 그에게로 가더이다
[27] 요한이 대답하여 이르되 만일 하늘에서 주신 바 아니면 사람이 아무 것도 받을 수 없느니라
[28] 내가 말한 바 나는 그리스도가 아니요 그의 앞에 보내심을 받은 자라고 한 것을 증언할 자는 너희니라
[29] 신부를 취하는 자는 신랑이나 서서 신랑의 음성을 듣는 친구가 크게 기뻐하나니 나는 이러한 기쁨으로 충만하였노라
[30] 그는 흥하여야 하겠고 나는 쇠하여야 하리라 하니라
