[ 1 Corinthians 1:10 - 1:17 ] - hymn 525 I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you. - 1 Corinthians 1:10 The spotted owl has been disappearing in the US. Originally it was believed that old growth logging was its greatest threat. But research shows that one of the owl¡¯s relatives may be the problem. For the past 15 years, the barred owl has been rapidly migrating westward. Barred owls, which used to live exclusively east of the Mississippi, compete for the same food as spotted owls but are more aggressive and adaptable. In a similar way, our greatest spiritual conflict often comes not from outside the church, but from other Christians. This was happening in the church of Corinth, and Paul took some time to address the divisive spirit that had grown in this congregation. This spirit threatened the unity of the church. Paul, with a pastoral nudge, encouraged the Corinthians to agree on the essentials and not be divided over the nonessentials. People were quarreling because they were aligning themselves with different Christian leaders—Paul, Apollos, Peter, and even Christ. In creating these divisions, they were valuing their favorite leader above unity in Christ. Paul said the one essential that should unify the church is preaching the good news. That should be our united goal as well. — Marvin Williams		[ 고린도전서 1:10 - 1:17 ] - 찬송가 525 장 형제들아 내가 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 너희를 권하노니 다 같은 말을 하고 너희 가운데 분쟁이 없이 같은 마음과 같은 뜻으로 온전히 합하라－고린도전서 1:10 점박이 올빼미가 미국에서 사라져가고 있습니다. 처음에는 고목나무 벌채가 그들에게 가장 큰 위협이라고 믿었습니다. 그런데 연구결과에 의하면 그 올빼미의 친척이 문제인 것 같다고 합니다. 지난 15년 동안 줄무늬 올빼미들이 서부로 급속히 이주해 갔습니다. 미시시피 강 동쪽에서만 서식하던 이 줄무늬 올빼미들은 점박이 올빼미들과 같은 먹이를 놓고 경쟁을 하는데, 더 공격적이며 적응력이 더 강합니다. 이와 비슷하게 우리가 겪는 가장 큰 영적 갈등은 교회 바깥이 아니라 다른 기독교인으로 인한 경우가 자주 있습니다. 바로 이런 일이 고린도 교회에서 일어나고 있었습니다. 그래서 바울사도는 잠시 시간을 내어 고린도 회중들 속에서 자라고 있는 영적 문제를 다루었습니다. 이 분열을 일으키는 영은 교회의 결속을 위협했습니다. 바울은 목회적인 안목에서 고린도 교인들에게 본질적인 것에는 일치를 이루고, 비본질적인 것으로 인해서는 분열되지 않도록 격려해 주었습니다. 사람들이 바울, 아볼로, 베드로, 심지어 예수님까지 포함하여 각기 다른 기독교 지도자들을 따르다보니 서로 싸움을 하게 되었습니다. 이렇게 파를 만듦으로써 그들은 그리스도 안에서 하나가 되기보다 자기가 좋아하는 지도자를 더 중요하게 여기게 되었습니다. 바울은 교회가 하나가 되는 본질적인 요소는 복음을 전하는 것이라고 말합니다. 우리의 하나된 목표도 복음을 전하는 것이 되어야 합니다.

A united church is a strong church.

1 Cor. 1:10-17

[10] Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
[11] For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you.
[12] Now I say this, that each of you says, "I am of Paul," or "I am of Apollos," or "I am of Cephas," or "I am of Christ."
[13] Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
[14] I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
[15] lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name.
[16] Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Besides, I do not know whether I baptized any other.
[17] For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.

하나님께 겸손히 구하오니
우리 교회를 축복하여 주소서
온전히 한 마음이 되어
우리 모두가 함께 걷게 해 주옵소서

하나된 교회는 튼튼한 교회이다.

고린도전서 1:10-17

[10] 형제들아 내가 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 너희를 권하노니 모두가 같은 말을 하고 너희 가운데 분쟁이 없이 같은 마음과 같은 뜻으로 온전히 합하라
[11] 내 형제들아 글로에의 집 편으로 너희에 대한 말이 내게 들리니 곧 너희 가운데 분쟁이 있다는 것이라
[12] 내가 이것을 말하거니와 너희가 각각 이르되 나는 바울에게, 나는 아볼로에게, 나는 게바에게, 나는 그리스도에게 속한 자라 한다는 것이니
[13] 그리스도께서 어찌 나뉘었느냐 바울이 너희를 위하여 십자가에 못 박혔으며 바울의 이름으로 너희가 침례를 받았느냐
[14] 나는 그리스보와 가이오 외에는 너희 중 아무에게도 내가 침례를 베풀지 아니한 것을 감사하노니
[15] 이는 아무도 나의 이름으로 침례를 받았다 말하지 못하게 하려 함이라
[16] 내가 또한 스데바나 집 사람에게 침례를 베풀었고 그 외에는 다른 누구에게 침례를 베풀었는지 알지 못하노라
[17] 그리스도께서 나를 보내심은 침례를 베풀게 하려 하심이 아니요 오직 복음을 전하게 하려 하심이로되 말의 지혜로 하지 아니함은 그리스도의 십자가가 헛되지 않게 하려 함이라
