A Mighty Stream		힘찬 물살
[ Amos 5:21 - 5:27 ] - hymn 508 Let justice run down like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream. -Amos 5:24 When I was a young teenager, my dad, uncles, cousins, and I went trout fishing at the head waters of the Sacramento River in California. The source of the river is melted snow, so the water was swift, clear, cold, and refreshing. My cousins and I couldn¡¯t resist stepping into the cool current while angling for rainbow trout. On the way home, we stopped for a dip in a pond that was far different. The pond water was warm, and it smelled stagnant. It contrasted greatly with that swiftly flowing, invigorating stream. The prophet Amos used the metaphor of a stream to illustrate the transforming power of righteousness. Appalled at Israel¡¯s dead religious ritual and their exploitation of the poor (Amos 2:6-8; 5:21-27), he called for justice and righteousness to prevail. He saw that God¡¯s people were stuck in the stagnant pond of injustice toward others when what they needed was a life marked by ¡°righteousness like a mighty stream.¡± Likewise, God desires for us to allow justice to ¡°run down like water¡± from our lives. One way that can happen is to strive for just laws and to champion loving care for the poor. May we seek to be a part of God¡¯s mighty stream of His righteousness until Christ returns. — Dennis Fisher		[ 아모스 5:21 - 5:27 ] - 찬송가 508 장 오직 공법을 물 같이 정의를 하수 같이 흘릴찌로다－아모스 5:24 내가 십대 초반이었을 때, 아버지와 삼촌들 그리고 사촌들과 캘리포니아의 새크라멘토 강 상류로 송어낚시를 갔었습니다. 눈이 녹아 생긴 강물은 빠르게 흘렀고, 맑았으며, 또 차고 상쾌하였습니다. 무지개송어 낚시를 하면서 사촌들과 나는 시원한 물살에 뛰어 들지 않을 수가 없었습니다. 집으로 돌아오는 길에 우리는 잠깐 수영이나 하려고 어떤 연못에 들렸었는데 그 연못은 전혀 달랐습니다. 연못물은 따뜻하였고, 고인 물의 냄새가 났습니다. 힘차게 흐르는 상쾌한 시냇물과는 확연하게 대조가 되었습니다. 아모스 선지자는 시냇물의 비유를 통해 변화를 일으키는 공의의 힘을 설명하였습니다. 이스라엘의 죽은 종교의식과 그들의 가난한 자들을 착취하는 모습에 경악한 아모스는(암 2:6-8; 5:21-27), 정의와 의로움이 행해지기를 촉구했습니다. 하나님의 사람들에게 “공의가 강물처럼”흐르는 것이 필요했을 때, 그가 본 것은 그들이 고인 연못에 빠져서 다른 사람에게 불의를 행하는 모습이었습니다. 마찬가지로, 하나님은 우리로 하여금 정의가 우리의 삶 속에서“강물처럼 흐르게” 하기를 원하십니다. 그 한 가지 방법은 법의 정의를 추구하며 가난한 자들을 사랑으로 돌보는 일에 앞장서는 것입니다. 그리스도께서 재림하시기까지 우리가 그분의 의로우심의 힘찬 물살에 기꺼이 합류하게 하소서.

Righteousness follows when truth springs into action.

Amos 5:21-27

[21] "I hate, I despise your feast days, And I do not savor your sacred assemblies.
[22] Though you offer Me burnt offerings and your grain offerings, I will not accept them, Nor will I regard your fattened peace offerings.
[23] Take away from Me the noise of your songs, For I will not hear the melody of your stringed instruments.
[24] But let justice run down like water, And righteousness like a mighty stream.
[25] "Did you offer Me sacrifices and offerings In the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
[26] You also carried Sikkuth your king And Chiun, your idols, The star of your gods, Which you made for yourselves.
[27] Therefore I will send you into captivity beyond Damascus," Says the LORD, whose name is the God of hosts.

정의는 그리스도인의 클라리온 나팔소리
우리가 어찌 하나님의 말씀에서 벗어날 수 있으리
하나님께서 이웃을 사랑하라 일러주신 말씀대로
우리는 그분의 인도하신 길을 따라가야 한다네

진리가 행동으로 용솟음칠 때 의로움이 뒤따른다.

아모스 5:21-27

[21] 내가 너희 절기들을 미워하여 멸시하며 너희 성회들을 기뻐하지 아니하나니
[22] 너희가 내게 번제나 소제를 드릴지라도 내가 받지 아니할 것이요 너희의 살진 희생의 화목제도 내가 돌아보지 아니하리라
[23] 네 노랫소리를 내 앞에서 그칠지어다 네 비파 소리도 내가 듣지 아니하리라
[24] 오직 정의를 물 같이, 공의를 마르지 않는 강 같이 흐르게 할지어다
[25] 이스라엘 족속아 너희가 사십 년 동안 광야에서 희생과 소제물을 내게 드렸느냐
[26] 너희가 너희 왕 식굿과 기윤과 너희 우상들과 너희가 너희를 위하여 만든 신들의 별 형상을 지고 가리라
[27] 내가 너희를 다메섹 밖으로 사로잡혀 가게 하리라 그의 이름이 만군의 하나님이라 불리우는 여호와께서 말씀하셨느니라
