Running The Race		달리기 경주
[ 1 Corinthians 9:19 - 9:27 ] - hymn 434 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. - 1 Corinthians 9:24 Spiridon Louis isn¡¯t well known around the world, but he is in Greece. That¡¯s because of what happened in 1896 when the Olympic Games were revived in Athens. During the competition that year, the Greeks did quite well—winning the most medals of any nation. But the event that became a source of true Greek pride was the first-ever marathon. Seventeen athletes competed in this race of 40 kilometers (24.8 miles), but it was won by Louis—a common laborer. For his efforts, Louis was honored by king and country, and he became a national hero. The apostle Paul used running a race as a picture of the Christian life. In 1 Corinthians 9:24, he challenged us not just to run but to run to win, saying, ¡°Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.¡± Not only did Paul teach this but he lived it out. In his final epistle, he said, ¡°I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith¡± (2 Tim. 4:7). Having finished his race, Paul joyfully anticipated receiving the victory crown from the King of heaven. The Christian¡¯s race is not a sprint—it¡¯s a marathon.

1 Cor. 9:19-27

[19] For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more;
[20] and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law;
[21] to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law;
[22] to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
[23] Now this I do for the gospel's sake, that I may be partaker of it with you.
[24] Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
[25] And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.
[26] Therefore I run thus£º not with uncertainty. Thus I fight£º not as one who beats the air.
[27] But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

우리가 이 달음질을 하면서
최선의 노력을 다하면서
우리의 왕 하나님을 위해
이겨야 한다는 사실에 고무를 받네

그리스도인의 경주는 단거리 경주가 아니라 마라톤이다.

고린도전서 9:19-27

[19] 내가 모든 사람에게서 자유로우나 스스로 모든 사람에게 종이 된 것은 더 많은 사람을 얻고자 함이라
[20] 유대인들에게 내가 유대인과 같이 된 것은 유대인들을 얻고자 함이요 율법 아래에 있는 자들에게는 내가 율법 아래에 있지 아니하나 율법 아래에 있는 자 같이 된 것은 율법 아래에 있는 자들을 얻고자 함이요
[21] 율법 없는 자에게는 내가 하나님께는 율법 없는 자가 아니요 도리어 그리스도의 율법 아래에 있는 자이나 율법 없는 자와 같이 된 것은 율법 없는 자들을 얻고자 함이라
[22] 약한 자들에게 내가 약한 자와 같이 된 것은 약한 자들을 얻고자 함이요 내가 여러 사람에게 여러 모습이 된 것은 아무쪼록 몇 사람이라도 구원하고자 함이니
[23] 내가 복음을 위하여 모든 것을 행함은 복음에 참여하고자 함이라
[24] 운동장에서 달음질하는 자들이 다 달릴지라도 오직 상을 받는 사람은 한 사람인 줄을 너희가 알지 못하느냐 너희도 상을 받도록 이와 같이 달음질하라
[25] 이기기를 다투는 자마다 모든 일에 절제하나니 그들은 썩을 승리자의 관을 얻고자 하되 우리는 썩지 아니할 것을 얻고자 하노라
[26] 그러므로 나는 달음질하기를 향방 없는 것 같이 아니하고 싸우기를 허공을 치는 것 같이 아니하며
[27] 내가 내 몸을 쳐 복종하게 함은 내가 남에게 전파한 후에 자신이 도리어 버림을 당할까 두려워함이로다
