Retirement Time		은퇴 시기
[ Matthew 16:24 - 16:28 ] - hymn 493 Whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. -Matthew 16:25 After working for 40 years as a teacher, Jane Hanson retired. She and her husband were looking forward to the arrival of their first grandchild. Retirement is that time of life when many people simply relax, travel, or enjoy hobbies. But Jane heard about a ministry to at-risk youth in a city near her home, and she knew she had to get involved. ¡°I realized there are kids just waiting, and I could make a difference,¡± she said. She began teaching English to a young Liberian man who had been forced to flee his home country because of civil war. Though he was in a safe environment, he didn¡¯t understand the new language. Of this ministry opportunity, Jane said with a smile, ¡°I could just go shopping to stay busy, but what fun would that be?¡± Jane is making a difference. Perhaps she has learned a little of what Jesus meant when He said, ¡°Whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it¡±(Matt.16:25). Giving ourselves to the Lord through helping others takes self-denial, yet one day Jesus will reward that effort(v.27). Let¡¯s follow Jane¡¯s example of love for God and others—no matter what our stage of life may be. — Anne Cetas		[ 마태복음 16:24 - 16:28 ] - 찬송가 493 장 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 찾으리라 - 마태복음 16:25 제인 핸슨은 40년 동안 교사로 일한 후 은퇴하였습니다. 그리고 남편과 함께 첫 손자(손녀)가 태어나기를 기다리고 있었습니다. 은퇴라는 것은 많은 사람들에게 있어 단순히 휴식을 취하고 여행을 하거나 취미생활을 즐기는 인생의 시기입니다. 그러나 제인은 집 근처 도시에서 진행되고 있는 위기에 처한 젊은이들을 위한 사역에 대해 알게 되었고 참여하지 않으면 안 된다고 생각했습니다. “내가 변화를 줄 수 있는 아이들이 나를 기다리고 있다는 것을 깨달았습니다.”라고 그녀는 말하였습니다. 그녀는 내전 때문에 조국을 떠나야 했던 젊은 리베리아 청년에게 영어를 가르치기 시작 하였습니다. 비록 그는 안전한 환경에서 살게 되었지만, 새로운 언어를 이해하지 못했던 것입니다. 제인은 미소를 띠면서 이 사역의 기회에 대해서 말합니다. “단순히 시간을 소비 하기위해 쇼핑을 갈 수도 있겠지요. 하지만 그것이 무슨 재미가 있겠어요?” 제인은 변화를 만들어가고 있습니다. 아마도 그녀는 “누구든지 제 목숨을 구원코자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 찾으리라”(마16:25)라고 하신 예수님의 말씀이 무엇을 의미하는지 어느 정도 알았던 것 같습니다. 다른 사람들을 돕는 것을 통하여 우리자신을 주님께 드리는 것은 자기부정을 필요로 합니다. 그러나 언젠가는 예수님께서 그 노력을 보상해 주실 것입니다(27절). 우리의 삶의 상태가 어떠하든지 우리 모두 제인이 보여준 하나님과 다른 사람들을 향한 사랑의 예를 본받도록 합시다.

Oh, let us be faithful to Jesus,
The faith we confessed let¡¯s renew,
And ask Him this question each morning:
¡°Lord, what will You have me to do?¡± — Pangborn

Work for the Lord—His retirement plan is out of this world.

Matthew 16:24-28

[24] Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
[25] "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.
[26] "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
[27] "For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
[28] "Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom."

참으로 예수님께 충성을 다하고
우리가 고백한 믿음을 새롭게 하여
매일 아침 주님께 이렇게 물어보라
“주님, 오늘은 제게 무엇을 시키시렵니까?”

주님을 위해 일하라.
주님의 은퇴계획은 이 세상에 있지 않다.

마태복음 16:24-28

[24] 이에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 누구든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따를 것이니라
[25] 누구든지 제 목숨을 구원하고자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 찾으리라
[26] 사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요 사람이 무엇을 주고 제 목숨과 바꾸겠느냐
[27] 인자가 아버지의 영광으로 그 천사들과 함께 오리니 그 때에 각 사람이 행한 대로 갚으리라
[28] 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 여기 서 있는 사람 중에 죽기 전에 인자가 그 왕권을 가지고 오는 것을 볼 자들도 있느니라
