[ Matthew 7:7 - 7:11 ] - hymn 480 If you ... know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! - Matthew 7:11 With a handful of Cheerios, I tip-toed across the deck in my backyard trying to sneak up on the fish in the pond. Perhaps it was my shadow on the water . . . or maybe I wasn¡¯t as sneaky as I thought. As I approached the railing, 15 enormous goldfish raced toward me, their large mouths frantically opening and closing in eager anticipation of an expected treat. So, why did the fish so furiously flap their fins? Because my mere presence set off a conditioned response in their tiny fish brains that told them I had something special to give them. If only we always had such a response to God and His desire to give us good gifts—a response based on our past experience with Him that flows from a deep-seated knowledge of His character. Missionary William Carey stated: ¡°Expect great things from God. Attempt great things for God.¡± God desires to equip us perfectly for what He wants us to do, and He invites us to ¡°come boldly¡± to find mercy and grace in time of need (Heb. 4:16). When we as God¡¯s children are living in faith, we can have an exciting expectancy and a quiet confidence that God will give us exactly what we need, when we need it (Matt. 7:8-11). — Cindy Hess Kasper		[ 마태복음 7:7 - 7:11 ] - 찬송가 480 장 너희가...좋은 것으로 자식에게 줄줄 알거든 하물며 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 좋으신 것으로 주시지 않겠느냐－마태복음 7:11 나는 시리얼을 한 줌 들고 연못에 있는 물고기들에게 몰래 다가가기 위해 뒤뜰의 테라스를 가로질러 발끝으로 가만히 걸어갔습니다. 물위에 내 그림자가 비쳤는지, 아니면 생각만큼 조용히 다가가지 못했는지 내가 난간에 가까이 갔을 때는 이미 15마리의 커다란 금붕어가 큰 입을 벙긋거리며 먹이를 달라고 내 쪽으로 급히 헤엄쳐왔습니다. 물고기들이 지느러미를 왜 그토록 열심히 휘저었을까요? 내가 나타나면 그들에게 특별한 것을 준다고 알려주는 조건반사가 물고기의 자그마한 뇌속에 설정되었기 때문입니다. 만일 우리가 하나님께, 그리고 우리에게 좋은 은사를 주고 싶어 하시는 하나님의 열망에 대해 항상 이러한 반응을 보일 수 있다면 얼마나 좋겠습니까? 그런 반응은 하나님의 성품을 깊이 아는 데서 나오는 하나님과의 과거 경험을 통해서 얻은 반응입니다. 윌리엄 캐리 선교사는 “하나님으로부터 위대한 것을 기대하라. 하나님을 위해 위대한 일을 시도하라.”라고 말했습니다. 하나님은 그가 원하시는 일을 우리가 할 수 있도록 완벽하게 준비시켜 주시기를 원하시며, 동시에 우리가 긍휼하심을 받고 때를 따라 돕는 은혜를 얻기 위하여 은혜의 보좌 앞에 “담대히 나아가라”고 권하고 계십니다(히 4:16). 하나님의 자녀인 우리가 믿음으로 살 때 우리는 하나님께서 우리에게 필요한 것을 필요한 때에 틀림없이 주실 것이라는 놀라운 기대와 확신을 가질 수 있습니다(마 7:8-11).

When with expectancy we pray
According to God¡¯s will,
We¡¯ll see Him working in our lives
His purpose to fulfill. — Sper

Prayer without expectancy is unbelief in disguise.

Matthew 7:7-11

[7] "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
[8] "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
[9] "Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
[10] "Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
[11] "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

하나님의 뜻에 따라
기대하며 기도할 때
그분의 목적이 성취되도록
우리의 삶속에서 역사하심 볼 수 있네

기대없이 하는 기도는 믿음을 가장한 불신앙이다.

마태복음 7:7-11

[7] 구하라 그리하면 너희에게 주실 것이요 찾으라 그리하면 찾아낼 것이요 문을 두드리라 그리하면 너희에게 열릴 것이니
[8] 구하는 이마다 받을 것이요 찾는 이는 찾아낼 것이요 두드리는 이에게는 열릴 것이니라
[9] 너희 중에 누가 아들이 떡을 달라 하는데 돌을 주며
[10] 생선을 달라 하는데 뱀을 줄 사람이 있겠느냐
[11] 너희가 악한 자라도 좋은 것으로 자식에게 줄 줄 알거든 하물며 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 좋은 것으로 주시지 않겠느냐
