[ Matthew 6:24 - 6:34 ] - hymn 472 No one can serve two masters. - Matthew 6:24 A gripping photograph of an old woman sitting in a pile of garbage made me ponder. She was smiling as she ate a packet of food she had foraged from the garbage dump. It took so little for the woman to be satisfied. There is much talk about a struggling economy and the cost of living going higher. And many are getting increasingly anxious about their livelihood. Is it possible to heed our Lord Jesus¡¯ teaching in Matthew 6:25, ¡°Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on¡±? Our Lord was not saying that we don¡¯t need to work, that we don¡¯t need to eat, or that we shouldn¡¯t bother about how we dress. He was warning against those things becoming so important that we become slaves of money instead of trusting Him. ¡°No one can serve two masters,¡± He said (v.24). Seeking first ¡°the kingdom of God and His righteousness¡± (v.33) is recognizing that no matter how much effort we expend to make a better life for ourselves and our families, ultimately it is the Lord who takes care of our needs. And since God is our heavenly Father, we will have enough. — C. P. Hia		[ 마태복음 6:24 - 6:34 ] - 찬송가 472 장 한 사람이 두 주인을 섬기지 못할 것이니－마태복음 6:24 나이 많은 여인이 쓰레기 더미 위에 앉아 있는 사진에서 나는 눈을 떼지 못하고 생각에 잠기게 되었습니다. 그녀는 쓰레기 더미 속에서 찾아낸 한 줌의 음식을 먹으며 웃고 있었습니다. 정말 보잘것없는 작은 것이 그녀를 만족시켜주었습니다. 최근 경제적인 어려움과 물가가 점점 상승하는 것에 대해 말이 많습니다. 그리고 많은 사람들이 어떻게 살아갈까 점점 더 염려하고 있습니다. 마태복음 6장 25절의 “목숨을 위하여 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 몸을 위하여 무엇을 입을까 염려하지 말라”는 우리 주 예수님의 가르침을 따르는 것이 과연 가능한 일일까요? 우리 주님은 우리가 일할 필요도 없고, 먹을 필요도 없고, 어떻게 옷을 입어야 할지 상관하지 않아도 된다고 말씀하시는 것이 아닙니다. 주님은 우리에게 그런 것들이 너무 중요해져서 우리가 주님을 믿고 의지하기보다 그것들의 종노릇하게 되는 것을 경고하신 것입니다. 주님은 “한 사람이 두 주인을 섬기지 못할 것이니”(24절)라고 말씀하셨습니다. “그의 나라와 그의 의”(33절)를 먼저 구한다는 것의 의미는, 우리가 우리 자신과 가족들의 더 나은 삶을 위해 아무리 노력한다 하더라도 궁극적으로 우리의 필요를 채우시는 분은 주님이시라는 사실을 인정한다는 것입니다. 그리고 하나님이 하늘에 계신 우리 아버지이시기 때문에, 우리는 넉넉히 가지게 될 것입니다.

Money serves us well if we receive it as God¡¯s provision.

Matthew 6:24-34

[24] "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
[25] "Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
[26] "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
[27] "Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
[28] "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow£º they neither toil nor spin;
[29] "and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
[30] "Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
[31] "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'
[32] "For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
[33] "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
[34] "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

축복의 하나님께 예속되어 숨겨져 있으니
적이 뒤쫓을 수도, 반역자가 대적할 수도 없다네
근심이 솟아날 수도, 염려의 그림자도 없으며
우리의 심령을 흔들 갑작스런 돌풍도 없다네

돈이 하나님으로부터 온 것임을 알고 받으면
우리가 돈의 주인이 된다.

마태복음 6:24-34

[24] 한 사람이 두 주인을 섬기지 못할 것이니 혹 이를 미워하고 저를 사랑하거나 혹 이를 중히 여기고 저를 경히 여김이라 너희가 하나님과 재물을 겸하여 섬기지 못하느니라
[25] 그러므로 내가 너희에게 이르노니 목숨을 위하여 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 몸을 위하여 무엇을 입을까 염려하지 말라 목숨이 음식보다 중하지 아니하며 몸이 의복보다 중하지 아니하냐
[26] 공중의 새를 보라 심지도 않고 거두지도 않고 창고에 모아들이지도 아니하되 너희 하늘 아버지께서 기르시나니 너희는 이것들보다 귀하지 아니하냐
[27] 너희 중에 누가 염려함으로 그 키를 한 자라도 더할 수 있겠느냐
[28] 또 너희가 어찌 의복을 위하여 염려하느냐 들의 백합화가 어떻게 자라는가 생각하여 보라 수고도 아니하고 길쌈도 아니하느니라
[29] 그러나 내가 너희에게 말하노니 솔로몬의 모든 영광으로도 입은 것이 이 꽃 하나만 같지 못하였느니라
[30] 오늘 있다가 내일 아궁이에 던져지는 들풀도 하나님이 이렇게 입히시거든 하물며 너희일까보냐 믿음이 작은 자들아
[31] 그러므로 염려하여 이르기를 무엇을 먹을까 무엇을 마실까 무엇을 입을까 하지 말라
[32] 이는 다 이방인들이 구하는 것이라 너희 하늘 아버지께서 이 모든 것이 너희에게 있어야 할 줄을 아시느니라
[33] 그런즉 너희는 먼저 그의 나라와 그의 의를 구하라 그리하면 이 모든 것을 너희에게 더하시리라
[34] 그러므로 내일 일을 위하여 염려하지 말라 내일 일은 내일이 염려할 것이요 한 날의 괴로움은 그 날로 족하니라
