[ Philippians 2:12 - 2:18 ] - hymn 505 Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault. - Philippians 2:14-15 During a summer of international sports scandals involving gambling and substance abuse, two athletes were applauded for their character as much as their professional accomplishments. A record crowd of 75,000 cheered Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn during their 2007 induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. ¡°Whether we like it or not,¡± Ripken said, ¡°as big leaguers, we are role models. The only question is, will it be positive or will it be negative?¡± Gwynn echoed the sentiment: ¡°There¡¯s more than just playing the game of baseball.... You¡¯re responsible, you¡¯ve got to make good decisions and show people how things are supposed to be done.¡± Every day, people are watching us. As followers of Christ, we are guided by Paul¡¯s challenge to ¡°become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world¡±(Phil.2:15). Compromise causes others to become disillusioned, while character fosters hope. As the life of our Savior flows out from us, we can encourage others and point them to Him. What kind of role model will we be for someone watching today? — David C. McCasland		[ 빌립보서 2:12 - 2:18 ] - 찬송가 505 장 모든 일을 원망과 시비가 없이 하라 이는 너희가 흠이 없고 순전하여...하나님의 흠 없는 자녀로－빌립보서 2:14-15 국제적으로 체육계에 도박과 약물 복용 등 추문이 많이 터져 나와 시끄러웠던 2007년 여름에, 체육인 두 사람이 자신들이 이룩한 선수로서의 업적뿐만 아니라 그들의 인격으로 인해 많은 칭찬을 받았습니다. 기록적으로 많은 75,000명이나 되는 관중들이 칼 립켄 2세와 토니 그윈이 야구 명예의 전당에 헌정됨에 갈채를 보내었습니다. 립켄이 이렇게 말했습니다. “좋든 싫든, 우리는 메이저 리그 선수로서 사람들에게 본보기가 되는데, 문제는 좋은 쪽이냐 나쁜 쪽이냐 하는 것입니다.” 그윈도 이렇게 동조했습니다. “단지 야구라는 경기만을 하는 것뿐만 아니라, 그 이상이 있지요. 책임을 지고, 좋은 결정들을 해야 하고, 사람들에게 어떻게 하는 것이 바른 것인지를 보여 주어야 합니다.” 매일 사람들은 우리를 보고 있습니다. 그리스도를 따르는 사람으로서, 우리는 바울사도가 던진 도전에 이끌립니다. “이는 너희가 흠이 없고 순전하여 어그러지고 거스르는 세대 가운데서 하나님의 흠 없는 자녀로 세상에서 그들 가운데 빛들로 나타내며”(빌 2:15). 인격은 소망을 싹트게 하지만, 타협은 다른 사람들을 실망시킵니다. 우리 구주의 생명이 우리 안에서 흘러나올 때에 우리는 다른 사람을 격려할 수 있고 그들을 그분께로 인도할 수 있습니다. 오늘 우리를 보고 있는 사람들에게 우리는 어떤 본보기가 될까요?

Guard well your life, to the Savior be true;
Many are watching each deed that you do;
Hence if you stumble and fall in deep sin,

The best role models model Christ.

Philippians 2:12-18

[12] Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
[13] for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
[14] Do all things without complaining and disputing,
[15] that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
[16] holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
[17] Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
[18] For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.

주님께 진실 되게, 너의 삶을 잘 지키라
많은 사람이 너의 일거수일투족을 보고 있다
네가 넘어져 깊이 죄에 빠지면
세상의 잃어버린 영혼들을 얻기가 더 힘들어진다

가장 좋은 본보기는 그리스도를 본받는 것이다.

빌립보서 2:12-18

[12] 그러므로 나의 사랑하는 자들아 너희가 나 있을 때뿐 아니라 더욱 지금 나 없을 때에도 항상 복종하여 두렵고 떨림으로 너희 구원을 이루라
[13] 너희 안에서 행하시는 이는 하나님이시니 자기의 기쁘신 뜻을 위하여 너희에게 소원을 두고 행하게 하시나니
[14] 모든 일을 원망과 시비가 없이 하라
[15] 이는 너희가 흠이 없고 순전하여 어그러지고 거스르는 세대 가운데서 하나님의 흠 없는 자녀로 세상에서 그들 가운데 빛들로 나타내며
[16] 생명의 말씀을 밝혀 나의 달음질이 헛되지 아니하고 수고도 헛되지 아니함으로 그리스도의 날에 내가 자랑할 것이 있게 하려 함이라
[17] 만일 너희 믿음의 제물과 섬김 위에 내가 나를 전제로 드릴지라도 나는 기뻐하고 너희 무리와 함께 기뻐하리니
[18] 이와 같이 너희도 기뻐하고 나와 함께 기뻐하라
