Walk The Walk		실제로 행하자
[ 1 Timothy 4:6 - 4:16 ] - hymn 507 Be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. - 1 Timothy 4:12 The preacher was speaking tongue-in-cheek when he complained, ¡°My wife is absolutely unreasonable. She actually expects me to live everything I preach!¡± It¡¯s so much easier to tell someone what is right than to practice it personally. When my son and I play golf together, I can tell him exactly how to play the hole and hit the shots. But my own ability to hit those shots is sadly limited. I suppose this is what is meant when we refer to athletes who ¡°talk the talk, but don¡¯t walk the walk.¡± Anyone can talk a good game, but actually performing well is far more difficult. This is particularly true in the challenge of following Jesus Christ. It is not enough for us to talk about faith—we must live out our faith. Perhaps that is why Paul, after giving instructions to his young protégé Timothy about how to preach, included this reminder: ¡°Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity... Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them¡±(1 Tim.4:12,15). As Christ¡¯s followers, we do not have the luxury of just talking a good game—we must live lives of exemplary faith in Jesus Christ. We must walk the walk. — Bill Crowder		[ 디모데전서 4:6 - 4:16 ] - 찬송가 507 장 오직 말과 행실과 사랑과 믿음과 정절에 대하여 믿는 자에게 본이 되어－디모데전서 4:12 한 목사님이 농담조로 불평했습니다. “내 아내는 너무 합니다. 내가 설교한 그대로 살 것을 기대하고 있습니다!” 자기가 몸소 실천하는 것보다 남에게 무엇이 옳은 것인지를 말하는 것이 훨씬 쉽습니다. 나는 아들과 같이 골프를 칠 때 홀을 어떻게 공략하고 어떻게 샷을 치는지 가르쳐 줄 수 있지만, 슬프게도 내가 가르친 것처럼 그 샷들을 치기에는 내 능력에 한계가 있습니다. 운동선수가 말로는 잘하는데 실제 경기를 잘하지 못하는 경우가 바로 이러한 경우 같습니다. 누구나 말로는 좋은 경기를 할 수 있지만, 실제로 경기를 잘하기란 훨씬 더 어렵습니다. 예수 그리스도를 따르는 도전에 있어 이것은 더욱 사실입니다. 믿음에 대해서 말하는 것으로는 충분하지 않고, 믿음에 부합하는 생활을 해야 합니다. 아마도 그래서 바울사도가 그의 젊은 제자 디모데에게 설교하는 법을 가르친 후에 이 교훈에 대해 다음과 같이 덧붙였던 것 같습니다. “누구든지 네 연소함을 업신여기지 못하게 하고 오직 말과 행실과 사랑과 믿음과 정절에 대하여 믿는 자에게 본이 되어...이 모든 일에 전심전력하여 너의 진보를 모든 사람에게 나타나게 하라”(딤전 4:12, 15). 그리스도를 좇아가는 우리는 말로만 좋은 경기를 하는 사치를 누리지 않습니다. 우리는 예수님을 믿는 본보기의 삶을 살아야 합니다. 우리는 예수님이 걸어가신 대로 걸어가야 합니다.

We please God when our walk matches our talk.

1 Timothy 4:6-16

[6] If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.
[7] But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.
[8] For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.
[9] This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.
[10] For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.
[11] These things command and teach.
[12] Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
[13] Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
[14] Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
[15] Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all.
[16] Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

가정과 일터에서, 혹은 휴식할 때
우리 가슴 속에 예수가 계시고 하나님을 위해 매일 사는 것을
우리의 행함을 보고
다른 사람들이 알고 있는가?

우리 행동이 말과 일치되면
하나님을 기쁘시게 해드리는 것이다.

디모데전서 4:6-16

[6] 네가 이것으로 형제를 깨우치면 그리스도 예수의 좋은 일꾼이 되어 믿음의 말씀과 네가 따르는 좋은 교훈으로 양육을 받으리라
[7] 망령되고 허탄한 신화를 버리고 경건에 이르도록 네 자신을 연단하라
[8] 육체의 연단은 약간의 유익이 있으나 경건은 범사에 유익하니 금생과 내생에 약속이 있느니라
[9] 미쁘다 이 말이여 모든 사람들이 받을 만하도다
[10] 이를 위하여 우리가 수고하고 힘쓰는 것은 우리 소망을 살아 계신 하나님께 둠이니 곧 모든 사람 특히 믿는 자들의 구주시라
[11] 너는 이것들을 명하고 가르치라
[12] 누구든지 네 연소함을 업신여기지 못하게 하고 오직 말과 행실과 사랑과 믿음과 정절에 있어서 믿는 자에게 본이 되어
[13] 내가 이를 때까지 읽는 것과 권하는 것과 가르치는 것에 전념하라
[14] 네 속에 있는 은사 곧 장로의 회에서 안수 받을 때에 예언을 통하여 받은 것을 가볍게 여기지 말며
[15] 이 모든 일에 전심 전력하여 너의 성숙함을 모든 사람에게 나타나게 하라
[16] 네가 네 자신과 가르침을 살펴 이 일을 계속하라 이것을 행함으로 네 자신과 네게 듣는 자를 구원하리라
