Ready To Speak		말할 준비
[ 1 Peter 3:13 - 3:22 ] - hymn 350 Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear. - 1 Peter 3:15 Lee Eclov and his wife were at a coffee shop in Estes Park, Colorado. At another table sat four men, one of whom was mocking Christianity and the resurrection of Jesus. Lee could sense the Lord telling him to respond. But his fear kept him from doing so. Finally, he knew he had to make a stand. So he walked over to the men and began giving historical evidence for the resurrection. How do we respond when we¡¯re in a similar situation? The apostle Peter encouraged his readers to make a commitment to stand up for Jesus, especially during extreme suffering. This commitment meant not remaining speechless when circumstances warranted them to defend their faith. He said, ¡°Always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear¡±(1 Peter 3:15). Their readiness to answer required them to know God¡¯s Word. They were to respond in godly meekness and fear, so that their persecutors would be ashamed of their own conduct. Had Lee Eclov remained silent or responded rudely, the cause of Christ would have suffered. Lee later wrote, ¡°God has a way of flushing us out of our quiet little places, and when He does we must be ready to speak for Him.¡± — Marvin Williams		[ 베드로전서 3:13 - 3:22 ] - 찬송가 350 장 너희 속에 있는 소망에 관한 이유를 묻는 자에게는 대답할 것을 항상 예비하되 온유와 두려움으로 하고－베드로전서 3:15 리에크로브와 그 부인이 콜로라도 주의 에스테스팍에 있는 한 커피숍에 갔을 때의 일입니다. 옆 자리에 앉은 네 남자 중 하나가 기독교와 예수님의 부활을 비웃고 있었습니다. 리는 주님이 그에게 이에 대응할 것을 명하고 있다고 느꼈지만 두려움 때문에 잠자코 있었습니다. 하지만 결국 그는 입장을 밝혀야 한다고 깨닫게 되었습니다. 그래서 그는 그 남자들에게로 가서 부활의 역사적 증거를 제시하였습니다. 이와 비슷한 상황에 처했을 때 우리는 어떻게 대처하나요? 베드로 사도는 예수님을 위해 당당히 대처할 수 있도록 특히, 극심한 괴로움 속에서도, 마음을 쏟으라고 독자들을 격려합니다. 이 헌신은 우리의 신앙을 방어해야 할 상황에서 침묵하라는 뜻은 아닙니다. 그는 “너희 속에 있는 소망에 관한 이유를 묻는 자에게는 대답할 것을 항상 예비하되 온유와 두려움으로 하고”(벧전3:15)라고 했습니다. 이렇게 대답할 수 있도록 준비되어 있으려면 하나님의 말씀을 알고 있어야 합니다. 이는 신성한 온유와 두려움으로 대항하여 그들을 박해하는 사람들이 자신들의 행위에 부끄러움을 느끼게 만드는 것입니다. 리 에크로브가 만약 아무 말 없이 가만히 있었다거나 거칠게 대응했다면 예수님이 더욱 곤란해지셨을 것입니다. 리는 나중에 다음과 같이 썼습니다. “하나님께서는 우리를 우리의 조용하고 자그마한 은신처로부터 끌어내시는 방법을 가지고 계시고, 그렇게 하실 때에 우리는 주님을 위해 말할 수 있도록 준비하고 있어야 합니다.”

To be silent about the Savior and His salvation is a dreadful sin of omission.

1 Peter 3:13-22

[13] And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good?
[14] But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you are blessed. "And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled."
[15] But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
[16] having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
[17] For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
[18] For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,
[19] by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison,
[20] who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
[21] There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
[22] who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.

사람들이 우리의 신앙에 대해 호기심을 가질 때
우리는 어떤 답을 줄 수 있을까?

[14] 그러나 의를 위하여 고난을 받으면 복 있는 자니 그들이 두려워하는 것을 두려워하지 말며 근심하지 말고
[15] 너희 마음에 그리스도를 주로 삼아 거룩하게 하고 너희 속에 있는 소망에 관한 이유를 묻는 자에게는 대답할 것을 항상 준비하되 온유와 두려움으로 하고
[16] 선한 양심을 가지라 이는 그리스도 안에 있는 너희의 선행을 욕하는 자들로 그 비방하는 일에 부끄러움을 당하게 하려 함이라
[17] 선을 행함으로 고난 받는 것이 하나님의 뜻일진대 악을 행함으로 고난 받는 것보다 나으니라
[18] 그리스도께서도 단번에 죄를 위하여 죽으사 의인으로서 불의한 자를 대신하셨으니 이는 우리를 하나님 앞으로 인도하려 하심이라 육체로는 죽임을 당하시고 영으로는 살리심을 받으셨으니
[19] 그가 또한 영으로 가서 옥에 있는 영들에게 선포하시니라
[20] 그들은 전에 노아의 날 방주를 준비할 동안 하나님이 오래 참고 기다리실 때에 복종하지 아니하던 자들이라 방주에서 물로 말미암아 구원을 얻은 자가 몇 명뿐이니 겨우 여덟 명이라
[21] 물은 예수 그리스도께서 부활하심으로 말미암아 이제 너희를 구원하는 표니 곧 침례라 이는 육체의 더러운 것을 제하여 버림이 아니요 하나님을 향한 선한 양심의 간구니라
[22] 그는 하늘에 오르사 하나님 우편에 계시니 천사들과 권세들과 능력들이 그에게 복종하느니라
