The Arlington Ladies		알링턴 부인회
[ Matthew 26:6 - 26:13 ] - hymn 36 What this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her. - Matthew 26:13 In 1948, the US Air Force Chief of Staff noticed that no one attended the funeral of an airman at Arlington National Cemetery, and that deeply disturbed him. He talked with his wife about his concern that each soldier be honored at burial, and she began a group called the Arlington Ladies. Someone from the group honors each deceased soldier by attending his or her funeral. The ladies also write personal notes of sympathy and speak words of gratitude to family members when they are present. If possible, a representative keeps in contact with the family for months afterward. Margaret Mensch, an Arlington Lady, says, ¡°The important thing is to be there for the families.... It¡¯s an honor to ... pay tribute to the everyday heroes that make up the armed forces.¡± Jesus showed the importance of paying tribute. After a woman poured a costly, fragrant oil on His head, He said that she would be honored for years to come(Matt.26:13). The disciples were indignant and thought her act was wasteful, but Jesus called it ¡°a good work¡±(v.10) for which she would be remembered. We know heroes who have given their lives in service to God and their country. Let¡¯s honor them today. — Anne Cetas		[ 마태복음 26:6 - 26:13 ] - 찬송가 36 장 이 여자의 행한 일도 말하여 저를 기념하리라 - 마태복음 26:13 1948년 미 공군참모총장은 알링턴 국립묘지에서 치러진 한 병사의 장례식에 참석한 사람이 아무도 없는 것을 보고 마음이 매우 언짢았습니다. 그는 아내에게 각 병사의 장례식에 경의를 표해줘야 한다고 말하였고, 그의 아내는 ‘알링턴 부인회’라는 모임을 만들었습니다. 죽은 병사 하나하나의 장례식에 그 모임 중 한 사람이 참석하여 경의를 표합니다. 부인들은 또한 직접 위로의 편지를 써서 주기도 하고, 참석한 유가족들에게 감사의 말을 건네기도 합니다. 그 이후에도 되도록이면 몇 달 동안은 대표 한 명이 유가족과 계속 연락을 주고받습니다. ‘알링턴 부인회’의 일원인 마가렛 멘쉬 여사는 이렇게 말합니다. “유가족들을 위해 옆에 있어주는 것이 중요해요...군대에서 날마다 영웅으로 살아갔던 병사들에게 경의를 표할 수 있다니...영광스러운 일이죠.” 예수님도 경의를 표하는 일의 중요성을 보여주셨습니다. 한 여인이 값비싼 향유를 그의 머리에 부었을 때 주님은 앞으로도 계속 이 여인을 기념하게 되리라고 말씀하셨습니다(마 26:13). 제자들은 화를 내면서 그 여인의 행동을 낭비라고 생각하였지만, 예수님은 그것을 “좋은 일”(10절)이라고 하셨고 그 일로 인하여 여인이 기억될 것이라고 하셨습니다. 우리는 하나님과 자신의 조국을 섬기기 위하여 목숨을 바친 영웅들을 알고 있습니다. 오늘 그들에게 경의를 표합시다.

The service given from their hearts,

We honor God when we honor one another.

Matthew 26:6-13

[6] And when Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper,
[7] a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table.
[8] But when His disciples saw it, they were indignant, saying, "Why this waste?
[9] "For this fragrant oil might have been sold for much and given to the poor."
[10] But when Jesus was aware of it, He said to them, "Why do you trouble the woman? For she has done a good work for Me.
[11] "For you have the poor with you always, but Me you do not have always.
[12] "For in pouring this fragrant oil on My body, she did it for My burial.
[13] "Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her."

주님, 저희로 하여금 감사하게 하소서
다른 이들이 행한 일들을
그들의 마음에서 우러나온 수고들을
당신을 위한 그들의 헌신을

우리가 서로에게 경의를 표할 때
우리는 하나님께 경의를 표하는 것이다.

마태복음 26:6-13

[6] 예수께서 베다니 나병환자 시몬의 집에 계실 때에
[7] 한 여자가 매우 귀한 향유 한 옥합을 가지고 나아와서 식사하시는 예수의 머리에 부으니
[8] 제자들이 보고 분개하여 이르되 무슨 의도로 이것을 허비하느냐
[9] 이것을 비싼 값에 팔아 가난한 자들에게 줄 수 있었겠도다 하거늘
[10] 예수께서 아시고 그들에게 이르시되 너희가 어찌하여 이 여자를 괴롭게 하느냐 그가 내게 좋은 일을 하였느니라
[11] 가난한 자들은 항상 너희와 함께 있거니와 나는 항상 함께 있지 아니하리라
[12] 이 여자가 내 몸에 이 향유를 부은 것은 내 장례를 위하여 함이니라
[13] 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 온 천하에 어디서든지 이 복음이 전파되는 곳에서는 이 여자가 행한 일도 말하여 그를 기억하리라 하시니라
