To Judge Or Not To Judge		비판할 것인가 말 것인가
[ Matthew 7:1 - 7:21 ] - hymn 372 Judge not, that you be not judged. - Matthew 7:1 What better way to tell people to mind their own business than to quote Jesus? People who seldom read the Bible are quick to quote Matthew 7:1 when they want to silence someone whose opinion they don't like. "Judge not, that you be not judged" seems like the perfect response. In context, however, the passage indicates that we are indeed to judge; we're just supposed to avoid faulty judgments. Furthermore, our judgments are to begin with self: "First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye," Jesus said (v.5). He then said, "Beware of false prophets" (v.15). This too requires judging-we need to be able to discern truth from falsehood. Jesus used the metaphor of fruit to give us the proper criteria for judging. "By their fruits you will know them"(v.20). We are to judge people (including ourselves) by the quality of the fruit they produce. This fruit cannot be judged by earthly values such as how good we look(v.15). It must be judged by heavenly values-the fruit of the Spirit produced within us-love, joy, peace(Gal.5:22). Our tendency is to judge by appearance. Be slow to judge others and quick to judge yourself.

Matthew 7:1-21

[1] "Judge not, that you be not judged.
[2] "For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
[3] "And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
[4] "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me remove the speck from your eye'; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
[5] "Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
[6] "Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces.
[7] "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
[8] "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
[9] "Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
[10] "Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
[11] "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
[12] "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
[13] "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
[14] "Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
[15] "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
[16] "You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
[17] "Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
[18] "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
[19] "Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
[20] "Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
[21] "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

겸손하게 주님을 섬기며 사랑으로 인도하는 자들이
진정한 지도자들이니
그들의 삶은 성령의 열매를 맺으며
하나님 말씀을 널리 펼치네

남을 판단하는 것은 더디 하고
자신을 판단하는 것은 속히 하라.

[5] 외식하는 자여 먼저 네 눈 속에서 들보를 빼어라 그 후에야 밝히 보고 형제의 눈 속에서 티를 빼리라
[6] 거룩한 것을 개에게 주지 말며 너희 진주를 돼지 앞에 던지지 말라 그들이 그것을 발로 밟고 돌이켜 너희를 찢어 상하게 할까 염려하라
[7] 구하라 그리하면 너희에게 주실 것이요 찾으라 그리하면 찾아낼 것이요 문을 두드리라 그리하면 너희에게 열릴 것이니
[8] 구하는 이마다 받을 것이요 찾는 이는 찾아낼 것이요 두드리는 이에게는 열릴 것이니라
[9] 너희 중에 누가 아들이 떡을 달라 하는데 돌을 주며
[10] 생선을 달라 하는데 뱀을 줄 사람이 있겠느냐
[11] 너희가 악한 자라도 좋은 것으로 자식에게 줄 줄 알거든 하물며 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지께서 구하는 자에게 좋은 것으로 주시지 않겠느냐
[12] 그러므로 무엇이든지 남에게 대접을 받고자 하는 대로 너희도 남을 대접하라 이것이 율법이요 선지자니라
[13] 좁은 문으로 들어가라 멸망으로 인도하는 문은 크고 그 길이 넓어 그리로 들어가는 자가 많고
[14] 생명으로 인도하는 문은 좁고 길이 협착하여 찾는 이가 적음이라
[15] 거짓 선지자들을 삼가라 양의 옷을 입고 너희에게 나아오나 속에는 노략질하는 이리라
[16] 그들의 열매로 그들을 알찌니 가시나무에서 포도를, 또는 엉겅퀴에서 무화과를 따겠느냐
[17] 이와 같이 좋은 나무마다 아름다운 열매를 맺고 못된 나무가 나쁜 열매를 맺나니
[18] 좋은 나무가 나쁜 열매를 맺을 수 없고 못된 나무가 아름다운 열매를 맺을 수 없느니라
[19] 아름다운 열매를 맺지 아니하는 나무마다 찍혀 불에 던져지느니라
[20] 이러므로 그들의 열매로 그들을 알리라
[21] 나더러 주여 주여 하는 자마다 다 천국에 들어갈 것이 아니요 다만 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 행하는 자라야 들어가리라
