[ 1 Peter 5:5 - 5:11 ] - hymn 379 May the God of all grace, ... after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. - 1 Peter 5:10 In his early years of ministry, the English preacher Charles Simeon(1759-1836) was a harsh and self-assertive man. One day he was visiting a friend and fellow pastor in a nearby village. When he left to go home, his friend's daughters complained to their father about Simeon's manner. So he took the girls to the backyard and said, "Pick me one of those peaches." It was early summer, and the peaches were green. The girls asked why he wanted green, unripe fruit. He replied, "Well, my dears, it is green now, and we must wait; but a little more sun, and a few more showers, and the peach will be ripe and sweet. So it is with Mr. Simeon." Simeon, in due time, did change. The warmth of God's love and the "showers" of misunderstanding and disappointment were the means by which he became a gentle, humble man. The God of all grace works in all His children, humbling the proud and exalting the humble, to make them ripe and sweet. Our task is to take hold of God's grace to endure our afflictions with patience, without growing weary. In time, He will "perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle" us(1 Peter 5:10). We must "wait on the LORD" and "be of good courage"(Ps.27:14). - David H. Roper		[ 베드로전서 5:5 - 5:11 ] - 찬송가 379 장 모든 은혜의 하나님...잠깐 고난을 받은 너희를 친히 온전케 하시며 굳게 하시며 강하게 하시며 터를 견고케 하시리라 - 베드로전서 5:10 영국의 목사 찰스 시므온(1759-1836)은 그의 초창기 목회시절에는 거칠고 자기 뜻만 고집하는 사람이었습니다. 하루는 이웃 동네에 사는 친구 목사를 방문했습니다. 시므온이 집으로 돌아간 후 친구 목사의 딸들이 그의 태도에 대해 불평을 했습니다. 그러자 그는 딸들을 뒤뜰로 데리고 가서 "저기에 있는 복숭아를 하나 따오렴" 하고 말했습니다. 그때는 초여름이어서 복숭아들이 아직 초록빛을 띠고 있었습니다. 딸들은 아버지에게 왜 아직 익지 않은 과일을 원하시느냐고 물었습니다. 그는 "얘들아, 지금은 복숭아가 아직 시퍼렇기 때문에 우리는 좀더 기다려야 한단다. 하지만 햇빛을 좀 더 받고 소나기를 몇 번 더 맞으면 복숭아는 잘 익어서 달게 될 거야. 시므온 목사도 이와 마찬가지란다."고 대답했습니다. 때가 되자 시므온도 변화되었습니다. 하나님의 따뜻한 사랑과 오해와 실망의 "소나기"들로 인해 그는 온유하고 겸손한 사람이 되었습니다. 은혜의 하나님은 거만한 자들을 낮추시며 겸손한 자들을 높이셔서 주님의 자녀들이 잘 익고 향기롭게 되도록 만드십니다. 우리가 해야 할 일은 하나님의 은혜를 붙들고 고통을 인내하여 견디고 지치지 않게 하는 것입니다. 시간이 되면 하나님은 우리를 "온전케 하시며 굳게 하시며 강하게 하시며 터를 견고케"(벧전5:10) 하실 것입니다. 우리는 "강하고 담대하며 여호와를 바라야"(시27:14) 합니다.

1 Peter 5:5-11

[5] Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
[6] Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
[7] Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
[8] Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
[9] Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
[10] But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
[11] To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

주 안에서 성장하여 열매 맺는 것은
순식간에 이루어지는 일이 아니라네
오직 하나님의 말씀을 묵상함으로써
성숙함을 이루게 되네

구원은 한 순간의 기적이지만, 성장은 평생에 걸친 노력이다.

베드로전서 5:5-11

[5] 젊은 자들아 이와 같이 장로들에게 순종하고 다 서로 겸손으로 허리를 동이라 하나님은 교만한 자를 대적하시되 겸손한 자들에게는 은혜를 주시느니라
[6] 그러므로 하나님의 능하신 손 아래에서 겸손하라 때가 되면 너희를 높이시리라
[7] 너희 염려를 다 주께 맡기라 이는 그가 너희를 돌보심이라
[8] 근신하라 깨어라 너희 대적 마귀가 우는 사자같이 두루 다니며 삼킬 자를 찾나니
[9] 너희는 믿음을 굳게 하여 저를 대적하라 이는 세상에 있는 너희 형제들도 동일한 고난을 당하는 줄을 앎이니라
[10] 모든 은혜의 하나님 곧 그리스도 안에서 너희를 부르사 자기의 영원한 영광에 들어가게 하신 이가 잠간 고난을 받은 너희를 친 히 온전케 하시며 굳게 하시며 강하게 하시며 터를 견고케 하시 리라
[11] 권력이 세세무궁토록 그에게 있을지어다 아멘
